Support / Healer in Elona expansion??

Hello everyone….
I think I have quit from this game before the first expansion, maybe 6 or 8 months before, because I was very disappointed with this game (PVE).

My main in GW1 was a Monk and I love healing in this kind of game. I’m always the healer in my group (ex. Holy paladin in WOW..etc).

So after reading abut the new expansion, ELONA IS BACK!!!. I really enjoyed playing this GW1 expansion like a child!

So then, I am very tempted to come back but before spending my time and money on this game again, I have some PVE questions

1) How useful is it for a party to have support/healer? I mean, can the party see any positive difference to have a healer or without them?

2) Do people still prefer to run FULL DPS TEAM?

3) Is anyone able to play as support/healer or just Ele and Druid?

4) In relation to the new expansion which classes do you think would be the “best” classes to play as healer/support?

Thanks

1) Pretty useful now. T4 fractals it’s good to have a healer, but especially in 99cm, 100cm and raids healers are basically mandatory. Druids are the best class for healing.

Also, yes, the difference is very noticeable. People tend to drop very fast without one in high level fractals.

2) In raids you might see a chrono with a little more toughness for the purposes of boss tanking, but otherwise basically yes. That’s the one thing that will never change in gw2 unless anet make serious changes to the combat system.

3) Technically yes, but I don’t see why you would. Just wait for xpac release for the new Necro elite spec and see what you think, if you’re tired of Druid. Also, don’t play Ele healer, just play Druid. You won’t have to make another set of gear just to play a second healing class.

4) Druid or Scourge, though I think Druid will win out because of damage buffs unless Barrier is completely necessary for some encounters or Scourge brings better buffs than Druid.

This totally depends on the game mode but concerning raids/fractals (hardest PvE content), here are the following answers:

1. It is very useful to have support in the group. Support does take different forms though from just a healer, Mesmer is a buff bot for quickness and alacrity while Warrior buffs out might as well as banners. Multiple classes can heal (Ranger, Ele, Rev, Guard to an extent) but people gravitate towards the Druid because it has the most offensive buffs to hand out while healing.
2. Full DPS teams still get ran in fractals, but people will gladly take a warrior and mesmer for the damage buffs. Ranger is nice again but people mostly don’t go out of their way looking for supports.
3. Refer to #1. Though I will say I personally think Guardian is the best healer in CM100 because aegis/stability will prevent way more deaths than just healing people.
4. The new expansion is bringing more support for Guardian and Necromancer. Those are the two I know are getting support based specs.

Outside of raids/fractals/dungeons there is no “party”, most game content is done in the open world without grouping. For this there’s no need or reason to play a healer, though you certainly could, none and nothing stopping you.

I’m just hoping we can get a stat set with mainstat healing power, Power, Precision, and Ferocity. Because screw all the healing power stats being tied to useless ones.

With the latest changes I’d say the best class is guardian for healing role. Mine is a bowman with traps, spirit weapons, and sigils. It’s got automatic healing events that occur and it heals when I dodge roll. By far it’s the easiest to play not sure if that’s what you want.

Several classes have minor support but there’s many who have full support now.

Engineer is a fun one to play for this role if you like complex events and keeping up with things. I play a support engi, explosives have had a buff so it’s much easier to play support now. There’s also multiple blast finishers for engis and there’s kits you can use that general water zones and healing zones that become light for regen. The only thing to avoid as an engi is the heal kit because it’s terrible right now.

You do have to think about sigils and your runs.

The best combo of sigils on your weapons should always start with Sigil of Water which is amazing it heals on hit and it does it frequently. I seen green explosions of numbers on people in front of me in battles all the time.

Sigil of restoration and Sigil of Renewal will trigger traits that affect healing. Such as a trait I like to use on my engineer that causes a cleanse effect will go off by itself when swapping between kits when using renewal or restoration will trigger the trait that takes the portion of healing you receive yourself when a trash mob dies that you’ve hit and give it to players around you which is nice for dungeons.

There are lots of options out there. Druid, Dragonhunter, Scrapper all have the capability of being healers. I’ve not played around with any of the other classes however yet in a support role yet.
