Swiftness Nerf?

Swiftness Nerf?

Swiftness no longer seems to stack duration for most ways of applying it. My mesmer gets no swiftness from Focus 4 skill if she has swiftness from the signet that gives random boons. My elementalist’s several methods of stacking up swiftness no longer stack (trait to give fury/swift with auras), and none of my engineer’s swiftness abilities stack.

Have not checked every character yet, but the only swiftness abilities I’ve found that do stack duration anymore are the guard shouts Retreat and Save Yourselves.

Hoping this is a temporary situation to address an exploit or something and not a permanent nerf to swiftness?

I’ve searched the forums using ANet’s search engine and Google and cannot find a thread that addresses this as an intentional patch change, a post-patch fix for something, or a bug. Have I overlooked something?

Mesmer’s temporal curtain doesn’t stack swiftness since a really long time ( to avoid running in and out and get infinite swiftness in one go). The elementalist’s trait only works with weapons and traits auras, not combos. Engineer should stack, but the 10 sec icd prevents you from spamming speedy kits.

If you’re on EU and need help to get into dungeons, pm me.

Engineer have perma swiftness from “steamlined kit” in Tools specialization

that give 24s swiftness in 20s icd.

Focus 4 won’t give swiftnees if you already have it for a long time.

Don’t know about ele … but I think nothing change .

Not anymore. Swiftness duration and cooldown are now the same. It’s still basically unlimited swiftness, you just have to pay attention to when it runs out now.

It was always like this. Or atleast for a very long time.

The icd of Speedy Kits has always matched the base duration of swiftness it gave, back when it was still 5sec icd/5sec swiftness.

Now it’s 20sec icd for 20sec swiftness.

As mesmer main I remember that focus 4 never stacked swiftness if there was a swiftness on character already.

Nope. Before I took my break in February, you could reactivate speedy kits a few seconds before swiftness ran out.

because one trait line could give you boon duration, it was always 10s cd and 10s duration, check your info

Now that mesmer has more access to swiftness. Maybe it is good idea to change temporal curtain so that it gives 4-5 sec of swiftness but can stack?

If you time curtain right you can have like 80%+ swiftness uptime with signet.

just always use the curtain as your first swiftness. it’s always been this way (since like, just after beta)

speedy kits: you used to be able to have boon duration in your traits. this is likely the overlap you were experiencing. as it is now with no boon duration boosts it recharges in the time it wears off now. no overlap, but no downtime either.

With centaur runes, signet, and heal mantra, I now have 100% swiftness on my mesmer, and have stacked over a minute of swiftness (over time of recasting and running around).
