I am loving the balance changes to the game that are opening up new playstyles for characters. However, the amount of time I spend running back to the respec trainer is getting a little absurd. I now have builds for…

1. Dungeon running
2. Speed-clearing maps
3. Support Role in WvW
4. Solo-Gank Role in WvW
5. Crazy-Fun but impractical builds (“Pistol Crit” build on my thief for example)

In addition, I sometimes subdivide these different builds into specific ones for condition damage or power/crit depending on my team composition.

My enjoyment of GW2 would go up exponentially if I could switch builds on the fly like I could with GW1. Even storing at least one additional build would be really helpful so I could go between PvE mode and WvW mode without a respec.

EDIT: I wouldn’t have mind continuing to pay money to respec. It’s the run time and manual reallocation of points that is really annoying.

I have been thinking about this as well. Experienced players realize the differences needed between game play types and have seen the ability to switch builds instantly in the past in other games. It’s pretty standard and I agree would help a lot.

Dude this patch nerfs Mesmer build variety to the ground. All you’ll see are crappy phantasm memsers that use GS and nothing else, even though Sword/Focus DPS is so much greater than GS.

Personally i have been saying this; I have bought all the permanent gathering tools (only the elemental ones, but a full set, nearly bought a second set) , bought the permanent royal pass even though i dont really use it, but I did it to show Anet thta I love permanent, accoutnbound stuff.

Im saying it now; Im willing to pay 1000 gems for a permanent accountboud retraiting thingy. I dont like buying one time use 35 gems stuff, because i dont have that kind of money and I now I will be very tight with it, so tight that i might not use it at all…

I, personally, would do find wvw less tedious, and be more likely to play it for fun instead of just mapping for completion occassionally if it wasn’t such a hassle to switch builds. GW1 had a similar horrible setup in the beginning with having to farm refund points to change attributes, and they got rid of it greatly improving the game, then they added the ability to save, load, and SHARE builds and made it even better. This needs to happen.

I want some delicious build templates added to the game like GW1 where you can save and load them…. and not through the gem store~ this needs to be an actual game feature. If they want I’m sure they can limit it by like 3-5 and allow you to buy more~ account wide hopefully. Lotta newer games have this kinda stuff already. Not with a limit of course tho.

But switching builds is like a game in itself! Looking at the amazing art on load screens, watching the slowly loading map create the world piece by piece before your eyes, and having to play find the right NPC! Oh, and trying to allocate all those trait points and select your traits again at a decent speed is a sign of a skillful player with a good memory!

More seriously, I agree; they really need to make re-specs easier.

Ascended gear basically forces you into a single build for the rest of eternity. Anet basically ensured that the game would get stale more quickly because of this.

This has been a request/suggestion since the earliest parts of the game. I made such a suggestion even during the last beta test. Really hope they listen to this and give it. Don’t mind if it is a paid for upgrade as long as they aren’t limited use items.

It’s better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

I don’t want some stupid cash shop item. It’s a basic QoL change and it should never cost anyone a cent. It was a lesson that they should have learned from the first game and we shouldn’t be having to ask for now.
