So. Me and my Sylvari were LF a Sylvari based/rooted Guild (as a secondary) because I dig the Sylvari. I don’t role play, but I do want to share that Sylvari pride with like minded(still looking).

If any of you are familiar with the LFG forum category, you know its traffic is a little slower than other cats. However, I got an answer with in minutes. It pretty much said, ‘die you evil Sylvari’. I love it.

I’m posting this thread (probably not the first) to invite other Sylvari to shout their praise and show their pride. I, for one, am down for the cause against the dragons, but should my Mother Pale Tree tell me otherwise, I will roll up on whom ever she puts the crosshairs. Sylvari join me against the naysayers. Share your pride!

I also invite the haters. Those of you whom don’t have faith in the “tree people” whom have fought by your side (and probably saved your *kitten), let me hear your troll call.

I love sylvari, they are so interesting, so aestheticly facinating, much more so than any other race in the game. Just my opinion ofc.

I do main one and I would never want any other character as my main. She loves her mother, the Pale Tree, but she will not follow anyone blindly… not even her beloved mother, she is no minion of the dragon, she defies Mordremorth and will slay him so that all sylvari may be free of his curse.

I don’t main a Sylvari but I do have one and think they’re one of the better races. Any race that gives such importance to the role of a mother cannot possibly be bad/evil/hated.

As an Asuran, I find the Sylvari to be an interesting anomaly worthy of study. One of these days I’ll have to study a few in my lab. However, my lab is currently filled with Quaggans while I research how high their threshold of pain is.

As someone whose main character is a sylvari (of the Dawn Cycle, so obviously I want to be a diplomat even when it may result in…aggressive negotiations), I look forward to Heart of Thorns. I enjoyed the glimpses we had at the early years of the sylvari in Living World season 2, and the sylvari-exclusive dialogue options and such should spice up HoT’s narrative quite a bit if NPC’s different reactions in BWE compared to other races were anything to go by.

I do wonder if Vorpp, sympathethic though he became after he learned his lesson, will ever get his comeuppance by Faolain’s hand. That could be interesting to see…

I like the construction and idea behind the Sylvari. I like their look. Their dialog and writing is for me personally a little sing-songy and annoying. i.e. More violets I say, less violence.

I would like to see more good sylvari that are less “dreamy” and introspective, but less BSC and evil than Faolin and Scarlet. You know, like Canach but more snarky.

Let’s see some Sylvari with a battle cry, “I’m gonna cap a thorn in his kitten.”

The Charr, despite their warlike ways, are brilliant. Their designs may be ugly, but they work, and they work well, and that’s important. They’ve shown their worth and I have a lot of respect for them.

The Booka… I mean, the Humans, I do have a lot of admiration for them. They have lost so much, and yet their spirit and determination remains strong. If only their leaders of old didn’t make such dumb decisions which killed off entire populations.

The Norns, they have their brawn, but only a few of them have brains as well. Still, they will be useful in the upcoming events. I think I’d like to have one as a mount.

We Asurans, despite our small statures, have contributed greatly to this effort with our knowledge and our technology. We used our minds and everyone benefits from us. The Inquest, they’re a bunch of buffoons, and their attempts at controlling the Eternal Alchemy is hurting Tyria more than helping,

The Quaggans, I don’t see much use for them. They’re meat shields at best, which is why I’m studying them to find out what their threshold of pain is. I’ve gathered a lot of data (points at stacks of journals filled with notes that are well protected against vandalism) but more research is required before I can turn the data over to the Arcane Council.

The Tengu seem useful, if only we could get them out from behind their walls.

The Centaurs could be valuable allies, if only we could get them to give up their irrational obsession of wiping out the Booka….I mean, the Humans.

You Sylvari though….are an enigma, and apparently easily controlled. You need futher study for the benefit of all.

Love and comapssion is nice and all, but that won’t save us. Knowledge is where the true power lies, and don’t we all want to be as powerful as we can be to defeat these dragons?

So we were cool until we got here. I beg to differ, IF we were easy to control, Mordy would have never lost control of us, in the first place. See I think GW has tainted our perception of our place in this world. We should be seen more as brave participants rather than Heroes. What some expect to be able to do against Dragons and their Champions is just silly. “No Necros, you should not be able to fear Jormag.” ugh, but that is another discussion.

What I am getting at is, you naysayers claiming we are still tools for Mordremoth. my Sylvari wields Mordrem weapons, but assure you that’s only to fight fire with fire. Our Mother delivered us from the grasp of the dragon. As far as I’m concerned, her feat is more impressive than Glint. She not only freed herself, but a race of people.
