Sylvari in general are well done, in my opinion. You can make them attractive, ugly, or as weirdly exotic as you like. Males and females.

and with how dry the summer is in some places, they may be on fire! :P

I don’t understand why people choose Sylvari just to make them look human. They can be made to look really cool and unique but 9 out of 10 Sylvari all use the same human face and humanish hair.

Sylvari are indeed hot when i burn them with my flamethrower. They are so hot that then can’t stand in place for one min but after that for some weird reasons they goes to sleep.

I’ll take a crack at it.

Theory 1:
It’s a part of what the Pale Tree picked up about human visage. So while indeed sylvari don’t “need” it, it exists as part of their humanesque appearance.

Same reason they have accurate reproductive organs that don’t actually function for that purpose.

(The parts themselves do actually function mind you, but they’re all sterile. Only the Pale Tree can make new sylvari.)

Theory 2:
Sylvari grow inside their pods a lot like a fetus and their development mimics our own.

The pod equivalent of an umbilical cord separates from there and they have a belly button.

Your first image contains scrapped designs. After player feedback they decided that giving the Sylvari too human looking skin with plant-like colors was really uninteresting, and just made them look like some kind of alien Easter egg humans. That’s why you see stronger leaf, bark, moss and other plant-like textures on all of the currently available Sylvari skins.

Taking stop frames has made me appreciate the beautiful animations even more :x

They get the best version of Magician Legs. Wish other races could have that version (while also preserving the existing non-Sylvari version).

My Sylvari look very alien which is very cool. That’s the best thing about the race. There’s nothing like a poison green Sylvari necromancer.

Personally, I prefer them cold with peppercorn ranch dressing……..

You just have to beleaf that sylvari “hotness” is rooted in firm ground so that this idea can germinate and spread through the jungle of your mind. Once this seed of an idea has sprouted then flowered into a pollen explosion of understanding, you’ll never look at a pistil or stamen in the same way again.

I like sylvaris because they’re different than humans… I find them interesting…wouldn’t call them sexy though.

Well, clothing is more an indictator of wealth, taste (or lack of it) and an ability to choose clothes that compliment your skintone and body type and/or hide any possible “flaws”.

Wealth is normally thought of as attractive, in a capitalist society, as it represents safety and security and someone who is capable of choosing nice clothing, that suits them, is also more attractive (to most people) as they are probably intelligent and artistic.

Whereas, the Sylvari’s plant parts are a part of them.

So, TBH, its probably more like a woman who has nice hair, as opposed to a woman who has less nice hair.

Either way, we’re programmed to find plants visually appealing, so a woman with a pretty floral motif on her clothes will probably look more beautiful; but that is obviously different from finding plants, or plant parts, themselves, sexually attractive.

Most people would consider a woman who grew petals on her head less sexually attractive than one who grew normal hair, for example.

Even if they still found her pretty.
