A lot of people, including myself, are pretty upset about the T3 gem store skin.

A simple solution would have been to just add a dye-able aurora to the gem store that could be used on existing t3 armor to upgrade the look, essentially making t3 a prereq to the new look. Anet still would have made tons of money, by rewarding the committed player base for their efforts, instead of slapping us in the face.

T3 armor has always been available with a swipe of a card. The main problem that people have is that it is no longer exclusive to just humans.

That’s actually a really awesome idea.

I’m sure tons of people would be willing to spend some cash to get a cool aura added to their armor. And I doubt anyone would have a problem with ANet releasing a set of auras unique to each set of armor, it’d help them make money and it’d keep the players interested.

I would actually love for that to happen. Although it would have to be limited to armors, as extending it to weapons would basically render legendary weapons obsolete.

I disagree, I think everyone would be fine if all cultural armor was available to all races, the issue is that they should all have the same amount of difficulty in achieving. yes, you could have previously bought it with cash, but previously it would have cost you 4 x the amount of gems it now costs.

to quote another user: “It undermines peoples efforts. I’m not sure why that is hard to understand. Players should never feel like the effort they put forth into obtaining an item in game was wasted time. That used to be a big deal to anet, which was why they made such a big deal about aesthetics and horizontal progression.”

Considering it would be a very difficult proposition to make asura and charr armor work for other races and the fact that many sylvari armors grow out of your body none of these will likely be a omni skin any time soon. So, yes it sucks because humans don’t have an exclusive armor anymore but it sucks even more so because the other races will still have theirs for a good long time.

ALL being the operative word. If all cultural armors became available to all races, this move would be understandable. However as it is, only one race and armor type has been singled out to be screwed over. Now light human t3 armor is less unique and prestigious than every other t3 in the game, and arguably every t1 and t2 as well (at least a norn can’t equip those yet). And yes, that is the major problem almost everybody has with this move.

Exactly. I’m not saying it’s not a problem, just putting emphasis on the real issue.

Unlocking cultural to all races is a thought that needs to be finished, and once finish will be acceptable, i can have patience for that if indeed they are doing it.

Putting them in the gem store is unacceptable, a thought and practice that should stop here and now.

The thing is, it’s barely even possible to port sylvari and asura armor to other races. So we will likely never see those races singled out in this fashion.

Good thing I can see these armours on other races because they really are not impressive. The light helm and boots are about the only thing I would buy, maybe medium gloves. The heavy helm you can get from the Sanctum vendor.

No, they are whining because t3 human light cultural is no longer a cultural armor.

Please don’t bait people. Your comment implies you think yourself above others and that we are complaining or whining about issue with no merit. I can assure you, it has plenty of merit.

Pretty sure that was the point of his troll post.

They have been purchasable for real world money since launch. Why should it stop now if people have not been complaining about it for the last fourteen months ?

incorrect. gold has been purchasable since launch, and that has been the acceptable standard. taking an expensive item, cutting it’s value into 1/4 of what it used to be and making it available to 100% of the population instead of 20%, cheapens and undermines players efforts.
