TOXIC farming community
2-4 people were being jerks, and suddenly the whole community (thousands of people) is toxic?
???
Getting booted from an open world PvE group for not having zerker gear is just pathetic.
Morrï (Mesmer) | Serah Mahariel (Guardian) | Morrï Mahariel (Warrior)
“colesy’s on rampage today. Slaying casuals left, right and centre” – spoj
Alas, some community people will always be kittens, and will place more emphasis on “what you got” as to “what you bring.”
I almost never join farming groups.. if one happens t zerg by, I will follow for a time, but rarely do I join a group. I still get the same rewards, but I can wear what I want, do what I want, and leave when I want.
The same goes for anything else in the game. If group X kicks you for not being uber enough, find group Y or do it yourself. The game is big enough for you (and me.)
Yes, some people are toxic. If they are privately taunting you, they deserve a report. Screen capture the chat in case ANet asks for it and go on.
Good luck to you.
Even if you give the community the most fun game there is out there, they would still find a way to exploit it…
You want Anet to reprogram human nature?
First of all, this is the most ridiculous thing I ever heard in the game. Gear check for open world PvE??? be happy they kicked you before you had to endure a single minute of them. Regarding the community – no, farming events do not turn people into kitten, but they attract people of the kind (note: I did not say all farmers are like that, enjoying the gold rush myself).
Kicking someone from a party that only exists to maximize the change to get drops for not having zerker gear is crazy stupid. It doesn’t make any sense at all.
It actually shows that they have no idea how tagging actually works in this game.
And flaming you with whispers is inexcusable.
But I would block them and move on.
Unless you are going into a dungeon or story instance there is absolutely no reason to be in a party with strangers while farming. You gain no real advantage from it. Just follow the mob, jump in and fight, rez people if you’re into that. You get the xp, you get the loot, you get all the benefits of farming while being able to ignore jerks completely.
If you feel you need to be in a party, make some friends in the game before you show up for the farming zerg and party with them.
So I had my first experience of Cursed Shore today.
Everyones always posting “lfg farm” so I joined someone group and we got involved with a 100 person massive zerg. They asked to see my equipment so I pinged them my gear. I haven’t been playing long so I’ve got mainly rares with a couple of exotics, trying to get better gear obviously, hence me looking for a group.
They saw I didn’t have full zerker gear, called me a noob, kicked me, and started flaming me in private chat calling me a noob.
Seriously? This farming zerg thing has just gone too far. I reported them but I feel like the previously friendly GW2 community has become obsessed with farming, profits, and are no longer incorporating new players in their madness for farming.
Please fix this ANet, I beg you.
I don’t believe a word of that.
I have farmed that event chain from the start and never once had anyone ask for my gear stats, in fact, I have never seen anyone ask that in map chat. BTW, I do not and never have run full zerker gear, I could but I don’t need it.
All you had to do find another party and join them.
Why didn’t you do that instead of smearing every one farming that event chain?
Any person requesting you to ping your gear is likely an elitist kitten. I’d suggest ignoring people who ask you to ping gear.
If they get uppity about your choice to not ping, likely they are kitteny and even when you quit they feel it’s their duty to ‘chase’ you down and remind you why you suck. These people are just kitteny, pure and simple.
If someone ask you to ping your gear, you refuse and they kick you without a word, likely they’re just elitists so parting ways is the best unless your goal is to also min/max the game.
If your goal is to be a min/maxer as well as an elitist, I implore you to just have fun. When things stop getting fun and start getting ‘annoying’ or ‘tedious’, you’ll understand why I suggest to just have fun and relax. You can still be awesome at the game without min/maxing or taking the optimal route and often takes more skill to accomplish things.

The reason for joining a farming party is that the party improves your chances to tag something successfully.
Remove Zerker.

If any group ever asks for a gear check, just drop the group. That will be a horrible group everytime.
Some people think zerk gear solve everything.
I asked me guild today if they wanted to join for AC explo and ofc someone later on sees i’m only lvl 47 and whines i could swap to my lvl 47 before last boss to get xp to level up and also added that “so you want us to carry you” which is a term used for players being underpowered for the content and are getting run through it by high level players. (mostly for the stats on your armour, exotics etc)
I don’t like that behaviour, especially if you play with your guildmates and you’re the one who started the party. Appereantly we have some elitists in our guild and i told them they could leave the party if they didn’t like it and also leave the guild. (I had no idea we had such players in our guild and most of the elitists in our guild play for themselves anyway and start their own parties, they don’t demand from the leader of the party).
The difference between a lvl 47 and a 80 isn’t that big difference, it’s only the exotic gear that’s the difference and everything else is up to how skilled you are as a player. You get downscaled to 35 anyway so only the stats from exotics make a difference.
When we got further in someone wrote “lvl 47 necro isn’t so bad after all”. That’s what i said, levels don’t make such a huge difference unless you’re a noob. I hope they learned something.
I can understand people want that special build for fractals or arah, they can be really tough and most people don’t want to spend 2-3 hours in dungeon when you can do it in 40 minutes.

What reason would I have to make it up and then post about it?

This right here actually is a decent idea but for a different reason.
As far as the main stats go…
Power
Precision
Toughness
Vitality
healing
condition
crit dmg
Boon Duration
You can then pair these up…
Power….Toughness
Precision…Vitality
Condition….Healing
Crit Dmg….Boon Duration
Zerker is an ‘all offensive’ stat combination. There is no ‘all defensive’ stat combination.
Unfortunately simply removing zerker from the game in an attempt to fix the issue will not work. With zerker gone, knights would just take over as the new must have.
similar issue that I posted on here but from a different angle.
I have seem gear kittens, (can I say that?) snobs then. As people here say ignore em or dont join em. The root of this problem now tho instead of needing great gear to be able to complete the encounter, task, event. You need it to complete for the reward and do 5% damage. If it didnt matter like it didnt before you wouldnt get grief for you gear in open world pve.
Positives : champion being worth while killing is great!
Negatives : 5% damage requirement plus high pop, farming community = bad imho. Anet can only fix the 5% bit, they cant fix the farming community or gear/build snobs.
having good gear and a great build should be a matter of pride, not derision.
rules and then take an overview.

Perhaps, but you know that Knight’s or some other gear would simply take its place.

If mobs and bosses get new mechanics and new AI and new skills they will be tougher and more difficult, then a raid of full zerkers won’t do so well and they are forced to mix other builds into their party. The encounters are the problem, not the stats.
today was the first time i went down to cursed shore to farm. i had a good time.

I really don’t understand what you were doing wrong to not get loot from the bosses, but I run these on my PTV guardian and all it takes is 1 single hit to get the loot from these bosses even in a massive zerg. I’m talking a 900 damage hit at most.
Unstable Shield, Unstable Light
i have seen groups asking for people to have elemental tonics on them. Its getting so ridiculous.
Anyone want to get a five man group and complete these events on every NA server? C’mon it will be fun and funny!
PM me if interested

That is tempting
Weird I have never been asked to ping my gear and if they ask me to do that I would just saykitten Come to frostgorge, much nicer people it seems :/
I am just saying. I don’t need Zerker to pwn in dungeons. Why have it?
Hello,
While we can understand your frustration against such in-game behaviors, this thread is not inviting to constructive and healthy discussion. And therefore, it is now locked
Please remember to use the in-game report feature for such abuses, instead of making that kind of posts on the forums.
Thank you for your understanding.
