TP item to change class.
Its already there, its called extra character slot.
Bloin – Running around, tagging Keeps, getting whack on Scoobie Snacks.
Point is to use one of your existing characters like your second guardian or warrior and turn it into a Revenant.
Also extra character slot do have a limit at 24.
Just saying, for those who cant get a new one…

Character slot limit is now 67 because they raise it. Much more than 24. Before they raise it character slot limit was 64.
I am a casual player so I can only get to about level 45 with this method. But Using that scroll to get a character to level 20 instantly, then use Writs of Experience/Tomes of Knowledge to level up to 80. Though of course this only works if you saved that stuff.

Why on earth would ANYONE need that many slots?! There are 8 professions. 1 slot per profession should be enough! And don’t go telling me it’s for “different builds”, because you can simply change the build on the existing profession as many times as you wish…. Seriously, I don’t get it. Lol.

I stand corrected, even tho that doesn’t change the situation, i would still pay more than a extra character slot for a way to switch profession without having to level again, simply using an existing character as Revevant a bit like Rytlock did in the story would make it great.
For those who will mention the Tome of knowledge, please just dont. This is a service that could be provided with little to no effort and give them profit along the way, i dont see why not.

I don’t know. But for them to increase the max to 67, from 64, as a result of the Expansion pre-order deal, must mean there are people out there that were already at 64 characters. I am sure these people with that many slots can tell you why they have so many.
It’s more worthwhile for A-net to sell character slots rather than a race change item.
-This item would require a load of development, for starters. There’s a bunch of things that it could mess up and hugely bug out. Profession is “hard coded” into the game- it’s a parameter that A-net probably never wanted to be editable, so therefore it would be difficult to isolate everything that it might effect. (Meanwhile, things like character appearance and gender was always intended to be customisable, so therefore the code is “clean” and not “spaghetti-mode”).
-As with above, who knows what kind of effects this would have? What would happen to the gear you have equipped, that is wearable on the initial profession but not on the changed one? How would people feel about losing the ability to equip their hard earned legendary or ascended gear? What about soulbound items? What about traits and initial character choices (which unique gear piece you chose, for example, which is included in the character bio).
-I think the most important point is this: A-net would rather somebody buy an extra character slot than be able to change your current profession simply from a profit standpoint. If you have multiple characters, you have more characters to dress up uniquely, and thus you’re more likely to buy a range of aesthetic items from the gem-store. It also means you’re more likely to purchase boosters and convenience items to help whilst levelling.
-Finally, anything significantly changeable is either easily reversible, or has very little effect on game-play (e.g. cosmetics). Adding an item like this is bound to cause some CS work, simply from people who used the item and hate the class they changed to.
I would like to be able to change my Necromancer’s patron God from Balthazar to Grenth. Why not make a new Necromancer? My Necromancer was made day 1 of headstart.
We are not friends.

Why do you need even one character slot? Because that’s how you have fun.
Other people enjoy creating leveling more than being L80. Some folks like having one character parked at each world boss, for storage, or for farming JP chests. I have extra mesmers for tag-team porting. And don’t get us started on the preferences of roleplayers — some might think that 67 slots are too few.
Story is very closely related to the race and choices you made at the creation of your character, i can understand that so changing race would be a chinese puzzle.
Changing proffession however shouldn’t be such a challenge, class exclusive gear for instance wouldnt be usable like heavy armor if you change to light armor class user, same would go for the weapons.
With the expansion coming and the Revenant, i know a lot of people who would be ready to ’’convert’’ an existing character into one, even pay for that option, i know i would.
You can already change your name, gender, body features from scratch and even ahve more options with the makeover kits then the original editor, why not give the the last change option left. Notify the player that exclusive gear wont be usuable after the change, MAKE IT VERY CLEAR.
Please Anet, my wallet is ready!
Anet has a system in place for quick leveling a character. Writ of experience, tomes of knowledge, experience scroll, food, and experience boosters; can give crazy experience gain. You also get 10 tomes every month and other good items simply for logging in every day. Plus if you choose Chest of Grand Experience from chest of loyalty that’s six more. then there’s tomes from pvp reward tracks, chest of the mists, etc.
If you leveled a character to 80 and you just really don’t like the profession, then i feel for ya. Been there. I’ve also leveled a thief 4 times over the yrs. One to early 20’s, later 20’s, 50’s,. Finally 80 using cheap method. I kept wanting to like thief but couldnt so just got rid of them( except the 80 and only thing I use him for is SW chest trains) Good news is it doesn’t take all that long to cheap your way to 80.
Necrobumping this in light of expansion.
I would like to re-open the discussion for a class change.
There are some of us out there who have been with our main character from day 1. Headstart. We’ve invested alot into our characters. Ascended gear, legendaries, bag slots. Most of all, those of us who have a true main on which we experience pretty much everything the game has to over. In this game, finish HoT’s story first, doing all the meta event’s first, exploring the jungle for the first time. We feel connected. However, sometimes changes are made to your class, or rather, not enough changes are made in comparison to others (elite specializations) that we no longer feel comfortable playing said class. We would want to change to another class. But at the same time not give up all we’ve worked for on our character. The class is just a small part of the total identity of our main character.
I am in this predicament right now and decided against rerolling purely because I have so much invested in this character. I have 100% map completion. Something I’m not to keen on doing all over again, especially right now when I’m so busy with HoT stuff. I don’t want to give up my 3 bag slots. I don’t want to give up the /age of my character. I have everything you could want on this character, too. Harvesting tools, salvage o matic, airship pass. Pretty much everything. Ofcourse I can give all the gear, utility, bags etc to a new character but then I’d have to leave my old naked main. Who has the name I want, the looks, evertyhing. Or I could delete it and remake it as a new class. But then I loose map completion, /age, bag slots.
I don’t think ‘anet would rather want you to buy a character slot’ is a good argument either. These class changes would not be free. And if they have to be double the cost of character slots to be profitable then fine. I don’t care. I’d pay 4k gems for this if I had to. People who are altoholics will keep buying the character slots anyway. Hell, I even have 9 character slots open right now. I understand it might not be so easy to code this into the game but realize that all MMO’s that are good (like WoW) have class changing options available. It’s a normal thing for MMO’s and this game should offer it too. I would strongly suggest putting it into the game and rest assured that people would shell out huge amounts of gems if they were able to preserve there ‘main’ but change classes when they don’t like the direction developers are taking their class to.
An alternative could be: being able to buy 100% map completion, 3 extra bag slots, /age transfer and anything else you might lose when you reroll to a new class at discounted prices, and only eligible for purchase if you indeed have acquired all the contents of this ‘character reroll jump start pack’ as I will call it. Then you can simply delete your main, retake the name, appearance, transfer all the items and use this new jump start pack consumable. I’m sure that would be much easier to code.
