I think it would be cool to get some of the gold back we spend on TP, like a tax refund. It could be a yearly or monthly refund.
this thought came to me after spending 500g for materials to craft my legendary.

I don’t really see much incentive on Anet’s end to lessen one of their goldsinks.

The influx of money would cause problems once a year. Determining how much and at what threshold players receive refunds could be an issue. Many others would find problems with this as it benefits flippers and very lucky players more than the average player.

Isn’t the TP like 15% tax? I would like to see a very small sum return if possible, gold is hard for a wvwer.

Zer the tax is for listing and selling, not buying.

5% listing fee 10%exchange fee.

You pay a 5% tax upfront when you list an item
You pay 10% when the item sells

As a buyer you pay 0%

But it is not a tax. It is a service fee. The fee is for storing an item in their store while also listing it up for sale. The Black Lion Trading Company has to pay all their employees you see in every major city providing trade services to members of Tyria. Those fees pay for those employees to stand there day and night selling your goods for you.

As has been discussed many times before, the TP tax is necessary to regulate the economy.

Without a TP tax, the rate of inflation would be crazy- it’s a problem that’s seen in many other MMOs and makes things very difficult for casual players.

The TP tax means that there is a limit to what a player can list an item as- it depends on how much money they have on them. The TP tax also means that gold is regularly taken away from the economy- the more that is spent, the more that is taken away. This offers a little stability.

Without the TP tax, casual players would be losing out. TP flippers and other high-income players would earn so much that the purchasing power of gold would sink very fast. It means that a casual player wouldn’t be able to afford much.

I could understand if you were complaining about not having much gold after spending it on necessary items in-game, but a legendary is far from necessary. You chose to spend your gold on it.

Here’s an analogy for you: You go into a designer outlet and buy a really expensive jacket. After you’ve bought it you go back and ask if you can have some money back, because you bought the jacket and you don’t have a high salary. Why would the store give you the money?

Tax refunds exist in order to make sure that each person pays the correct amount of income tax at the end of the year.

The trading post taxes exactly the correct amount of tax on each transaction. Thus, there is no need for a refund.

Maybe you want to argue for an earned income tax credit instead?
