I just wanted to thank you guys for bringing ALL of the permanent harvesting tools back to the gem store, but even more, for keeping them there for longer than a couple of days.
I’m saying a little prayer that they are there permanently now.

I’ve already gotten 2 more tools and I’m planning on buying gems again this weekend so that I can get another.
Again thank you for giving me the time to plan, which resulted in me actually purchasing gems with rlm for items in the gem store, along with a plan for more purchases in the near future. This is the model that, imo, you should be using for most gem store items. It allows people to work gem purchases into their personal financial plan.

Not sure what you mean by “better”. I don’t like any of the newer ones. They’re just odd. I think they take design too far with these things.
That’s why I said “all”, because I was able to get the ones I wanted. Namely, the watchwork mining pick, but also chop-it-all logging axe and consortium harvesting sickle. Old style lol
If, by better, you mean a new mining pick that harvests with the chance to gain ambrite or azurite or something like that, I would be very interested & would def purchase more gems for that lol
I know it’s a heated topic for some but, I would buy that in a heartbeat (as long as it was in the gem store long enough for me to work it in >.>)

Quoted for truth. I will put money on this, come PAX South / LS they will reveal an entire new line of harvesting tools that give something similar to the watchwork tools, and everyone will rush to buy them because they give x items upon gathering.
I remember when the watchwork tools were released, I heard plenty of players who already had three of the infinite harvesting tools rush to buy the watchwork ones at the expense of 3,000 more gems just because they gave sprockets and they were used to create the new ascended back piece.
It also created a pretty big kittenstorm, and the following Aetherized gathering tools (or any other since) did not get a bonus gathering effect.
They still might do it. Every now and again I get the feeling arenanet simply cashes in their “good will tokens” with a kitten move that makes them some easy money. Get raged at, apologize or ignore it, and some time later do it all again.

Actually I think there’s a completely separate BLTC group in ANet whose only job it is to make skins and promotions. It seems that usually the ones doing the apologizing / ignoring aren’t even involved with that part of the game. Mind you someone still needs to give the final approval I guess so it’s not a excuse. Mind you (and here comes the excuse) looking back at it the sprockets are pretty useless beyond a single back piece (well ok a single back piece with 4 or so proper skins and a bunch of inprogress skins)..
I have vowed not to buy another gem store harvesting tool, so long as Anet won’t exchange my bone pick for a watchwork pick. Having spent hundreds, quite surely over a thousand dollars on gems, I’m in awe that customer service refuses a simple exchange “due to the nature of the item.”

I bought an item for gems after changing gold recently, and while the system took my gems, it didn’t grant the item. Filed a ticket to be informed by support that they had no trace of the item, the gem movement or even the gold-gem exchange and therefore absolutely nothing would be done about the situation. This was in spite of having the precise time of the exchange logged.
Don’t get your hopes up over an exchange when even a ‘no goods on arrival’ problem is not addressed. As far as I know they DO have records for real money→gem exchanges though, so this problem I had will never involve real money.

Runes of Perplexity, for those confusion-loving folk. I figure that’s why my sprockets still sell for 3 silver a piece. Imagine how bad the price of those would be if they went the way of Azurite.

Honestly, I’d be fine with a tool that rarely drops some of the forgotten materials, just to pad the trading post with them again.

Uh, pretty sure the unholy firestorm of Erage (much deserved) told them that would never fly again. Also, there’s only 1 watchwork tool. Not “tools”. If people purchased 3 picks, that was their choice.
