Tank, Healer, DPS roles coming?
Nah, you can already build up to be a little tanky with several classes, propaply that infusion just adds that to a little. I doubt there is gonna be “true” tanks.
Yes. On top of this, new fifteen-man dungeons will be released within a week of The Lost Shore and players will be able to join queues that will match them with other players remotely. Each of these new, harder dungeons will provide gear drops that are better than the previous content, invalidating older installations as time goes on. A water tank ele is perhaps the greatest support in the game with 30 earth/30 water/10 arcane with healing power/toughness/vit gear. They can’t damage anything, but they’ll live long and keep their party alive. Great for PvP (can survive high burst impact) or dungeons.
At this point everything is now open since the main tenant of play how you want when you want (gear is cosmetic) is tossed out the window.
I have moved on now and expect things to be done properly like Dps meters and player inspection tools and lfg stuff. I want to be able to keep those that arent as leet as meet far away from me as possible.
Adding the holy trinity and raiding would totally crown this game as king of the MMOs (imho ofc), then throw in some goals (DAoC style) to WvW, while removing the repair bill in WvW and it would just be heaven.
This is already the best MMO out atm, but it could grab more players if it used the WoWisk style raids and dungeons, the dungeons clearly arn’t working as thought when the forums are full of players upset about dying so much in every instance. The “everyone’s a DPSer” was a good idea, but it clearly isn’t doing much in the fun department when it’s nothing but die and run back, die and run back.
Some way of adding in trinity style play a bit more may work, we already have the heavy armour classes and some healer elements, and after all, there is no reason not to cover all the bases, making everyone out there happy?
Or do we only play to the call of the choosen few?

This is a funny joke. As a casual player dungeons are way too easy, the hardcore players have the exact opposite complaint you think they do. While I agree with you about WvW I do not want to play the same pve game as you, it seems.
Yes, add elements they promised to not put in the game. Abandon the vision for the game to suit WoW-addicts like you. Just play WoW and leave us alone.

The Problem is not that they threw out the trinity the problem is they didnt have anything to replace it with.

A warrior is just not a tank its how they spec decides if its a tanky person. Such as there is DPS warrior, control warriors which just stun lock you, and there is support warriors who use banners and shouts to support the team.
I can go through all the professions and tell you where your trying to force the trinity when there is no need for one.
Necro can spec for tanky and be a kitten good one at that. My ranger is speced for control meaning i control the “hate” of the boss and enemies so that i become the center of focus. Dude the trinity in this game as Anet has stated time and time again is DPS/control/support. Cause guess what i bet you my support warrior would heal more people then a DPS guardian. Everyone can play every role some better then others but all can do it with efficiency. Such as the water ele example. Is heavy support and control but too lack of damage.
Control: Control falls into controlling the hate and using conditions and stuns to ensure the enemy doesn’t kill your teammates.
DPS: focuses purely on damage output and is squishy as hell no matter what profession you are
Support: provides minor healing and boons to the team. (Guardians are the best class for this where as Thieves are the worst).
Thieves by this true trinity in GW2 means that Thieves are great at 2 roles and kinda poor at 1. A Thief is great at controlling the flow of the battle using invisiblity to engage and disengage as well preventing their teammates from being chased. They are also good at throwing conditions such as stun and blind to ensure less damage on themselves and others. THey are great DPS as well.
I can really really go indepth about each profession and how much you are wrong about them and trying to fit them into the wrong trinity which if put into that trinity context There is no tank and no healers leaving everyone a DPS. Cause no warrior can just stand there and take it from a dungeon boss no matter how speced they are. No one is able to singly heal a player from near death to full hp without the use of healing skill on the character. Which leaves only DPS left in that triangle. You can try to force the old triangle in if you want but it is in a completely wrong context and you have severly bend its rules just to make it work.

lets see , we already got tank , dps and healer class . problem is we don’t have SPAMMABLE HEALER class to make the trinity worked out. with bosses could 2-3 shot a tank, we need any class that have healing skills with 2-3 secs cooldown NOT 30 sec-ish cooldown >>>> pretty sure i dun need dodge if this works

Yes.
This game does techically have the holy trinity. IE, you will never get the def of a warrior/guardian nor will you get the dps of a thief. Maybe the boons an engineer applies, or necro’s conditions. Don’t forget the healing of an elementalist though.
If the game had not the holy trinity, we would have 100 skills for each profession, so that we could build our character in the WAY we ACTUALLY WANT to. We are limited to what Anet has put into our hands.
No, I do not like the holy trinity, but in fact I want to have options, I want freedom of choice, I want unique character progression/builds.
I’m a Mesmer; and if I want to lean onto my illusions, maybe I want to build my character into them so that I can pop more than 3 illusions at once. This is only an example.

I bought this game to get away from exactly that.
I noticed on the latest blog about the new update that under the infusions there was an infusion labeled as:
“Unused Defensive Infusion Slot”
This seems to me that the piece of armor in question is used for a “tank” role as it can not be made to hold any other infusions.
Does this mean we are going to see a move towards the traditional Tank, Healer and DPS roles from other MMOs?
I personally don’t think this is a good idea, the basic premise of this game was “play as you want” so that there would be no set roles. Has that changed?

- off. infusion slot upgrades.
-omni infusion slot upgrades, which can be added to any kind of infusion slot !

If that’s how you play dungeons, no wonder you want it the archaic (easy) way. You could just stand in one spot and button mash. I don’t foresee you sticking with this game for long unless they dumb it down a lot.

It actually makes dungeons stupid easy.
If they are changing one core ideal to try to attract a different crowd then there’s no saying they won’t change others.

They might as well with this new “Ascended” gear giving the impression of them implementing a gear treadmill in future content. Can’t say I’m a fan of either concept, but I don’t see any reason for them not to at this point.
It’s one back item and a couple of rings to add a little item to strive for after releasing a major new content update.

You think they are trying to attract gear treadmill fans buy adding 2 new items? How long will that keep them here?
If they want to please that kind of player they need constant updates.

It’s the principle of their former claims man. I’m relaxed, but the blog post clearly indicates that this “Ascended” and “Infusion” gear concept is going to be expanded in the future. Not a concept I like, no matter how “little” of an impact it has atm.
