Tanky - Warrior VS Guardian
Haven’t tried it but if i were for a warrior it would be:
Full Defense and Tactics Traits
Healing Signet, Signet of Stamina, Banner of Defense, Endure Pain, & Battle Standard
Run with a Mace & Sheild
You gear should be focused on vitality and healing power (buffing your passive healing)
Swansonites of North Shiverpeak – Northern Shiverpeaks
I couldn’t find any rune on the gear that buffed both healing and vitality, I found a toughness + healing though. But that’s what I’m thinking of doing actually. Since a mace involves nothing but stuns, that’s something I’m interested in. The one problem I’m seeing so far is that I like the gun for range. But if I just have the mace + gun, I’ll have 1 gap closer. So I’ll have to ditch guns. =/
Well you could drop banner of defense to open with Bull Charge as that both damages and knocks down allowing you a bit of time to dps without blowing a stun. But you’ll lose the passive End regen which means less dodging.
Swansonites of North Shiverpeak – Northern Shiverpeaks
Ordika summed it up nicely. Regarding the gap closer, that’s the trade off you’ll need to think about. You’ll have more gap closers available if you use a main hand sword and Bull’s Charge, or Throw Bolas, but you’ll lose the mitigation from the signets and you won’t get to use a mace. You could use Mace/Shield in one weapon set and Sword/Shield in the other, but that’s sacrificing having a ranged weapon.
It’s all a series of trade-offs. Just keep experimenting until you find something that works for you, and you can always change things up to suit your mood that day.
True, that to be honest was my plan the entire time. But the question still remains, how does a defensive warrior stack vs a defense guardian? The skill sets seem somewhat similar, the only real difference I can see is that warriors have more passive traits and guardian is more active. So to sum up my thoughts, warrior is more melee oriented as in focused on the sword sets and guardian is more spell oriented focusing on casting.
