Target Prioritization

Target Prioritization

While I’ve had issues with the way the game selects targets via Tab targeting or Nearest Enemy targeting, since the October 15 patch it has become even more frustrating.

While in clustered events like in the Mad King’s Labyrinth, the prioritizing of veterans and champions is helpful to quickly get the main target selected, however, in WvW it is quite frustrating. While trying to solo or duo neutralize the Hylek camp in the south of Eternal Battlegrounds, I just want to take out the regular level Hylek. Yet when I use my “Select Nearest Enemy” key, it will target the champion Hylek in the back corner even though there are several regular Hylek in between me and the champion. Sometimes even drawing aggro from the champion.

I haven’t even tried the AC Kholer fight sine the patch. I can’t imagine how frustrating it would be to clear the trash spawns when the targeting system would keep selecting Kholer.

Adding to the frustration is the fact that the key option I use is set to “Select Nearest Enemy,” and yet half of the time it doesn’t select the nearest enemy. Even before this patch it wouldn’t.

tl;dr: While prioritizing Champions and Veterans can be helpful, I feel it hurts more than helps. Can we at least have an option that turns off prioritizing? And for the love of the 6 Gods can the “Select Nearest Enemy” actually function as labeled?

They’ve mentioned that the change to ‘target nearest’ was an accident. That should be getting reverted back soon (it’s in the bug forums). It won’t fix that it doesn’t always target the nearest, but it will at least go back to the way it was (which I can deal with). I hate hitting ‘c’ (the key I bound for target nearest) and getting the champ 4 aggro bubbles away that I have to wade my way though a million minions to get to. sigh

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.
