Anther idea could be to have adult only servers. For people who can handle things like mature language. It would require a CC validation.
Age doesn’t immediately grant you maturity. If we had to set an age, I’d say 30+. Everything below are just young adults who think they’re super mature and have a license to spread profanity uncontrollably.
That is true. Age doesn’t immediately grant you maturity. But in my humble opinion, if you’re 30+ and still spend times playing computer games there isn’t much mature about you in the first place. No offense
Games have nothing to do with maturity. If anything the adults who play games are more mature then the ones who only sit watching TV and Sports. Games exercise your mind.
Immaturity is taking profanity to seriously. It’s all just sounds made with vocal cords.
As for protecting kids. They all use more profanity then most adults.
Rubbish , rubbish … profanity my kitten!!! What day an age are we living in? I look at television and see heinous acts of murder and rage blatantly highlighted, real wars grossly simplified, all in the name of entertainment. Oh we eagerly zone into the news to share our “sympathies” with victims of crime, more like watching a bloody car wreck, our taste for absurd and bloodletting fulfilled. Then we jump on our hypocritical bandwagons and moral highgound over words, wee what fun to discuss such banal banter.
Guild Wars is a video game. Video games are for gaming. Role playing is not playing the game. If you want to role play so badly you can use external IM software. What do you have to complain about?
My favorite part about the MMORPG genre is that it includes the term role playing.
And you are in the, what, 5%? of population that took “RPG” too literally. Point?
Sounds to me like you’re upset because other people don’t want to “role play” with you.
If you type out some cuss words while I’m playing then guess what, I’ll report you also.
If you don’t like it then to bad, you agreed like the rest of us to the rules of this game.
Let me see you say something bad about someones sexual orientation/race/religion/handicap, and try to use the excuse it’s just me role playing.
If you get off cussing then use either skype or teamspeak. Then you can cuss till your heart content.

It’s more than 5% I’m sure.
5% is a lot anyway. ANet doesn’t want people quitting.
I don’t see how acting within the confines of the term “RPG” is taking it “too literally.”
Maybe you just need to lighten up a bit?
This is the price we’re paying to play this game:
I’m actually against many, many rules of this game and forums but I accept it just because I like to play the game.
We pledge ourselves to Anet censorship by our own will., It’s not a big deal, if you want to make a crusade about society’s hypocrisy, about why “bad language” isn’t actually bad or about why sex is not a traumatic topic for kids and violence usually is this is not a good place to do it, go and write incredible master pieces like Aristophanes’s comedy or Plauto’s, Terentius “Heauton Timorumenos”, Petronius’s “Satyricon”,some of Quevedo’s poems, Boccaccio’s “Decameron”, Rabelais’s “La vie de Gargantua et de Pantagruel”, Miguel de Cervantes’s “El Quijote”, etc
There were, and there are, lots of people along human history that tried to show that bad things, the true bad things, are not profanity, sex or fart jokes…

And you are (according to your stats) the 95% without a hint of creativity or imagination. You most likely haven’t even experienced RP in a game before, therefore your opinion doesn’t even matter.
Back on-topic, those who are purposefully getting RPers banned, should be the ones getting banned themselves. It’s incredibly sad that people go out of their way, willingly, to ban someone, because their style of play doesn’t fit their’s.
I think it’s time ANet introduces a new RP server, once and for all. It’s sad to see, a game with huge lore, cannot be experienced to it’s fullest, without trolls trying to ruin their experience.
I think there is more to the story than what was said.
I find it very hard to believe that Anet bans people just because they were reported for role play.
RPers don’t get a free ride just because they are RPing, you have to abide by the same rules as the rest of the players.
It’s their server, their game you have to play by their rules. Pretty simple.
The price we’re paying to play the game: …it was sixty bucks last time I payed.
As far as an agreement or “pledge”
, a click with a mouse is not an agreement, it’s a statement written by an zealous lawyer-backed company to overtly cover any illegal or fraudulent actions, a contract is negotiable, that cute little bylaw is not, you have to click to play the game.
Free will is not included, only by my not playing would that ascertain to your theory.
And to bring in boring Rabelais, insipid Petronius or an other dusty academic philosophical argument highlights the point of dulcinean proclivities.
Keep on riding the donkey, attack illusionary monsters (Language), and please remember fart jokes are still funny,
Oh can i get permission to offer contrary views? Can i get a ticket to the place where arguments are discussed. Where do I sign up? You say the internet? The forums?
Egads brilliant!
