goemms lab is pretty hard to get portalled through, its useful for that jp.

or if you say.. dont do map completion ever and dont even have bloodtide coast uncovered, much less anything in orr, and want to take that toon to arah/cursed shore in a timely manner.

Probably your thinking of the Twisted Watchwork Portal Device. It sends you to a random spot (vista, jumping puzzle, POI, maybe somewhere really random). This new one sends you to a party member, randomly chosen.

I was actually thinking of the non-twisted version but I haven’t actually logged on all week to look in on things . . . been too busy with work and mentally exhausted more often thanks to losing a few co-workers and having it mess with my schedule. (Among other RL-related affairs.)

More to the point, is this item one of those which can sometimes pop up as a “Daily Achievement Reward” like Forge Stones / Black Lion Kits / Boosters?

I had forgotten about that one, the Watchwork Portal Device which allows anyone to make a Mesmer portal (for a steep price). Imo, not really similar since that one makes a Mesmer portal for someone else to use and this one allows you to teleport to a party member from another map.

Yeah i got the recipe of both the watchwork portal, But its account bound and its mighty expensive. You could hire a mesmer for that kind of money and make him do the JP for you.

I also recently got a teleport to a friend however. And im still saving it, i see potential to travel my 80 tomes level’d character directly to SW, without even stepping a foot outside of my starting zone. Its Funny because i might do that for a free key LS reward, it gives you the literall ability to join a random SW 80% party and just use the tome to travel there.

But im saving it for now, if there will ever be hard content i would probably want more of these and since im opening massive amounts of chests (only reall endgame use for gold when you have everything) I expect to get allot more. Once i reach 5, i might just create a new character, keyfarm till 20, and then continue keyfarming with the teleport.
Seeing as i am already saving up so many tomes from pvp, LS drops, chests and sometiems event rewards. and not to forget the insta 20 tome.

Its funny how you could literally start doing endgame instantly with a newly made character by just pressing books and eventually reach endgame zones. With absolutely no experience of the new class.

I might get a mesmer! lol.

The way I see it this item will either be useless or overpowered. Either way, it’s something this game doesn’t need and ANet could’ve used the resources otherwise but they didn’t. They chose to go for that extra money this item will grant them.

I looted a key in the wastes earlier and opend one of my many hundreds of redundant BL chests.. I got a friend port stone and yea.. it can be useful but no more useful than a mes portal. your argument that the Mesmer is a nice person doing you a fovaor is so poor.. check your LFG’s.. those nice mesmers now want gold to do it, very few offer them for free to puzzles.. those that do offer YOU a choice, just like the port stone does.
If YOU don’t want to use it then don’t, if you do then great but don’t beat yourself up about something that has no affect on you in game.

Sure the stone is a bit of an easy win, but ANET, like any cash shop in MMO’s know that there is always coin to be made out of peoples laziness, especially when the content has such low replay value like most puzzles do in game. I mean its not like the rewards are worth the time, especially this new puzzle… so easywin will be a nice earner for it until the boredom sets in…. but no one is making you or anyone else use them in the first place.

A friend of mine was lagging bad this evening and could not get anywhere close to getting one of the coins in the Drydock (yes the designer of this map/maze/scavenger hunt is crueller than any dragon I have slain) so this portstone proved a saviour for him, so it does have an upside if used for the right reasons

why so much argument about a one use item with a only to party members limitation?just leave it at your bank or use it when you are lazy and you want to reach your party asap.nothing op here if you don’t want to let your party members do a jp and then just teleport up there.
and then yeah people are still lazy in jp waiting for mesmer portals.same thing to me

This was something already available in the code and used in the Chinese version, so basically no resources were needed to implement it here.

The Teleportation consumable is a CLEAR statement that they don’t intend to use the VIP system in the West. Which is a very good statement indeed.

This would be perfect for Griffon Rook Run JP, too bad the rewards would be outstripped by the cost in gold for using this teleporter → unless teleport item is a drop or cheap enough craftable (not like that mesmer teleport wannabe we got).

Leave them alone… only thing that hurts my eyes is the amount of BLK skins, I don’t give a kitten about the rest (and might aswell buy them anyways).

No, i mean there are already (in chinese version) VIP package features that are also directly bought gemshop items. So, having one in no way impacts having the other.

Y’know, I had never considered the use of this item as a way to skip jumping puzzles. That may be because, if people did that, it wouldn’t affect me in the slightest, nor would I care. I had fun doing the jumping puzzles. If people want to skip them to get to a mediocre chest (which will never really outstrip the cost of the teleport item), that’s their free time to use as they please.

I thought it was quite a cool item to potentially have if a friend needs help in an event or something. I guess everything convenient or new is the end of the world though in an MMO to some players.

all the people i know that would be happy to skip jps just want the cheevo points or monthlies, not the chests
