Temples in Orr
The better solution is to change the Collection requirements that involve events that only occur on failure. This was a problem with several of the Legendary collections, at least 4 of which would frequently bug out and not complete, at least 3 which only occurred on a failure path of an event chain, and 2 which involved events that were removed since beta.
If all the collection items were on the winning side of event chains, or have the ability put an event back on track when it derails after a failure, none of what you’re talking about would ever be an issue.
I vote for both.
It is too easy to defend temples. If defense is attempted, the undead invasion should be more difficult, scale up faster, and be more rewarding, if successful.

A second this, but to add onto it. I don’t think assault should depend on failing defense. i think every temple should be on a constant rotation of assault → defense → assault → defense → etc. with both events being equally worth doing (so same or similar scaling and both should grant the daily reward).
The current system makes collections pretty difficult and, in some maps at least, effectively causes either griefing (person A decides to solo defense just to troll people) or attempting to order people around (Commander A is trying to lead a train through temples/events, person B doesnt want to be in train but sees defence event going and decides to do it. person B does not want to be, and quite honestly shouldn’t be, told not do the event even though its him vs 40 people who want the assault). Some collections do allow defense to complete it, but not at all of them. And while making is to all of them work would help, I think you could kill more birds with one stone by just alternating events
No collection should be behind requiring that another event fails. ANET clearly stated in the past that failing an event on purpose to farm it is considered an exploit and they don’t want people doing it. Then they went and put collection items behind these events, some which require you too do just that. When HoT was released this was a problem and they later changed some of the collection sources.
The BEST solution is to put all temples, like some other maps, on a forced restart and remove the defense completely. Reset them after 2 hours or reset them at every 2-hour time stamp. The fact that a temple can be maintained more than 24-hours straight is BS. IDK how many times I’ve tried to do temple events but was unable because one person wants to defend it.

This is by far the best solution to fixing temple problems. Take the temple and after a period of time, it resets to an assault phase again. The people who under this misconception that defense has better loot is the source of toxicity in Orr. People who want to do the assault can’t because the defense is a lazy way to get loot. You just stand there and AOE.
Buffing temple defenses will kill assaults, and some temples clearly offer more loot on assault phase. Grenth and Arah being the top two. Buffing temple defenses will do nothing but cause 24 hour defends and people that need something from an assault will never get it.

i would have to agree! Misread the fist time. They could still keep defense events for those who want them but allow those who want the assault to still have access.

People who think assault is always better are equally toxic.
Just let the two events alternate regardless of if they fail or not. It won’t allow anyone to “farm defense” or “kill assault” and it won’t break the story line as much either.

Agreed. This would most definitely be the best thing to do. However, since Anet did not put the temples on a strict timer when they did so with all the other world bosses ages ago, something tells me they don’t want to do it. Or maybe they can’t,idk. But it baffles me that they did not do anything about this for so long. The current system annoys beyond reason. It’s basically be at the right place at the right time,or come at 3-4 am when there is no one on the map, and try and solo it :/ After enduring this for so long now,i would accept any kind of improvement to this,be it the same loot on def/att, better scaling,or timed resets.
If anything i’d personally like to see if Orr got a rework into a system like the HoT maps.
With outposts and small event chains and later on a meta event in which the temples get attacked.
Maybe even rework some of the enemies…
Agreed, nothing should be gated behind events failing to restart the whole chain.
My suggestions would be to change the collections that Require killing the Temple bosses, for the bosses to appear for the defense of the temple. So it makes it harder and fulfills the collections. All the defense events should do is eliminate the attack chain events preceeding the finale.
For example, Dwayna Attack, is escort Priory, Kill Champion, escort Malchor, Destroy the possessed statue. On Defense this should condense to kill the champion plus a few waves of risen, Destroy the Statue.
I hope Anet pay attention to this thread, something must be done soon, specially about Lyssa, this is really annoying. There is A LOT to do in this game, people don’t want to be rooted in Orr maps for hours waiting for the assault event, is absurd.
