Tengu and flying cities in the sky
… Tengu dont have wings. How the hell are they supposed to fly, lol?
If they had a gemstore glider and the mastery line leveled they could glide……..
ANet may give it to you.
Maybe they can’t fly, but they looks exactly like a birds after all.
Well, except for the arms part, and the size. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a human sized bird, with arms instead of wings, flying around my yard.
Ok, there was that one time, but it was New Years Eve and alcohol was involved and the police told me to go home and go to bed when I reported it……

The early birds had wing like arms that could not be used for flying.

But i thought i created this topic not about tengu themselves, but about their cultural cities, which can fly on some technology in the skies. I thought that somebody will like this idea.
Yah. It’s a pretty good idea. it could be interesting to have a city way up in the sky with updrafts around it to let you glide up to it. I guess they could have gliders also.

ye great idea +1

But the tengu already have a city… we can’t access it, but they have it.
Don’t think it is in their lore to have floating cities.
Might be something more for the djinn things that were in GW1 Elona.
Charr look like cats – why don’t they have litter boxes?
I think that a sky city would be a better fit for Asurans.

They do. They’re called Orr and Ascalon.

Aerie was on the ground. According to the wiki, they used to be able to fly but long ago lost their ability. However, with the invention of airships, helicopters and gliders, they could have sky-based settlements. I remember in the Tarnished Coast there were massive stones suspended in the air which would be pretty cool for Tengu settlements.
dragons, I sometimes wonder if we’ll ever find a way to save us from ourselves.”
actually isnt rata sum a flying city already

Is your yard near Route 66? I heard that’s haunted by man sized Bird Men.
Someone in my Role playing group even wrote an Rp setting round it…
Don’t let “the man” tell you you imagined it!

What made you think tengu have flying cities?

Actually, that’s not a too far off idea.
First, their home is called “The Dominion of the Winds”. Second, look at the Zepherite airships, and how they were anchored at the Labyrinthine Cliffs. A larger area built like that could easily be considered a flying or “semi-flying” city.
It’s true that the Tengu wouldn’t have Glint’s magic to help hold the place up, but their apparent love of wind and flying may have lead them to finding other ways to make it work. The Zepherites may have even copied the Tengu designs, which would explain the kite-like styles and use of what appeared to be bamboo.
