What is it with Anet and tentacles? First we had the Southsun backpiece, then we had the metal wing one that is pretty much the same but metal, and now we have more tentacles.

I’m not complaining, I’m just wondering why lol.

Because anime.

Wings are tentacles? Since when?!

It’s good when it suits your role-play or visual build.
But, putting it on a tall norn warrior with colorful armor…

its good that i stopped to make the backpack because of how ugly it will become.

So far i am failed to find a decent looking backpack.

Tentacles are a staple in most monsters. And even in most sea life. So it’s just because.. They’re really monstery I guess.

Well there’s only really one tentacle themed backpack being the Sclerite Karka Shell. The new Mordrem Backpieces are more roots than tentacles and it’s a welcomed addition, being asymmetrical with an evil primordial/nature(ish) theme. The skin is great for a Mesmer Sylvari and the asymmetrical Sylvari cultural armors in general.

As for the… tentacle thing. I think players need to get their minds out of the gutter and think “The Thing” or HP Lovecraft novels when it comes to tentacles, instead of thinking about a certain type of anime…

Easy for me because I never watched and detested anime since forever, so my mind was not corrupted. :p

These have been in the GW2 .dat file since at least June 19, 2013. They were never released, and the codes don’t work anymore; likely due to the wardrobe changes. You can still see screenshots in the reddit thread though.
