Hi guys

I only started playing in late 2013 and really want to know what the heck the conclusion of the story Tequatl Rising was?

Is he still alive (storyline wise)?
Does he require constant defeat similar to Claw of Jormag which isn’t killed completely?

Tequatl is dead, in Tequatl Rising, Rox’s mission was to kill Tequatl and show proof of it to Rytlock, eventually you’d get a story quest where it was mentioned that she had indeed brought him proof.

My understanding is that Tequatl (like the Shatterer and the Claw) is a title rather than an individuals name. If I remember correctly Tequatl is a hylek word that means ‘sunless’ (which, since the hylek worship the sun is roughly the equivalent of ‘evil’ or ‘devil’).

So Tequatl is simply the strongest/smartest/biggest of the numerous undead dragons that can be seen in and around Orr. When we kill one another takes their place.

In theory with Zhaitan dead there is a finite supply of them and eventually they will run out. But enough that this won’t happen until long after the game time (or a very distant point when Anet figures out a way to make changes like removing the undead without breaking the game for new players).

Although another theory I’ve heard is that the dragon champions are the same race as the elder dragons and if they live long enough would become new elder dragons themselves.

Your reasoning makes sense. But 1 would learn from ones predecessor?
Pretty sure that THE Claw of Jormag and THE Shatterer and Tequatl might be titles but that they are not replaced that simply.

Safe to assume that its just another time lapse like Orr.

That last part is why I asked. Was thinking that WHO THE HELL is absorbing Zhaitans magic and “position”.
