Teq whirlpool Tequatl's Gloom impossible?
Get on a dead or failing map instead of a full one

Yeah, but they still need to get him down to 75% and that doesn’t happen on dead or failing maps.
Oh and believe me, I have tried switching maps at the start if there are 4 comms as know I won’t get anywhere otherwise.
I was sucked down into a whirlpool last night. I wish I knew what to do when that happens. =/ Need the Achievement.
Regardless, they do appear.
I wish I had your luck, I only get poison fields and teqs fingers in any map I join. I have all my graphics set to high as well, so not like i’m missing them ( I make a point of looking for the bloody things)!
Keep trying – you can get it on an organised map, you just need to be a little eagle-eyed and lucky. I managed it recently, although it took me about three weeks of 1-2 attempts per day. Just as you get Tequatl down to 75% health and start the first defence phase, a whirlpool may spawn, and standing at the edge of melee range by Tequatl’s right foot looks to be a good spot for it.
Whirlpools always spawn at 75%, no matter how good or bad a map is. You only have a few seconds to see one and get in it, and they are very easy to miss. Your best bet is to pay close attention when his health is approaching 75%, then as soon as the invulnerable buff appears, jump into the next set of circles that show up. There will be an animation of two of Teq’s fingers that plays when the circle first shows up, but you may miss that if you have your effects turned down or if its in the middle of a group of people.
Another tip is to try to position yourself between/around/close to front/back feet IN THE WATER before Teq lifts off (deeper the better and in the zerg that can be hard to tell)
If you do go beneath the surface look for the submerged chest ASAP
Keep trying you’ll get it!!

Tamasan, guess you missed the bit that said I had looked closely and have my animation turned up high and all I see are poison fields.
Thanks for the advice people, will try to be near his feet, its got to happen at some point eh? What a boring way to play the game though, all around teq until I get it rather than having fun!
i just did the teq gloom for crafting dusk 2 weeks ago and it took me 2 tries. i always make teq directly after reset and always with the same people in a full map and we are also pretty quick with killing teq. its true that full maps which kill teq quickly can cause them to not spawn but its not impossible. the way i found it to work best is when you stand near to his right front paw, i see the whirls there frequently. you prolly just had bad luck so far.

I fell into a whirlpool this last weekend. So, it’s certainly doable.
It was during the zerg rush after the first batteries. I positioned myself in front of the left foot (his right), but not right next to it…. a little ways out, just outside melee range.
Just keep trying, and don’t let yourself get upset about it. The rewards of the fight (imo) are worth the time you’re putting into it.
If you do feel that he’s being taken out to quickly for the whirlpools to spawn… maybe join the map just before tequatil begins? That way you’re more than likely to be in overflow and fighting with a less-than-optimal zerg.

They spawn quite regularly. I love seeing how spending a few days or maybe weeks for this, to help towards a legendary weapon, is always an issue on the forums and in the map chat; but spending over a year to get an ascended weapon from Tequatl seems to be just fine.
I think I’ve got sucked down into the whirl pools like 3 times in the past 4 days. Idk what maps you are getting into but I would happily trade so I don’t get into the whirlpools.
[????] – HoD
It may have been a glitch but when the Teq fight was over and I collected the chest, there was some poison of concern so I ran towards and actually into the water, and was sucked down just as/after Teq splashed dead in the water farther out.
Might want to try this.
Can confirm that just in front of his right foot, about 45 degrees from the head, is the ideal place to get caught in one. The things suck me under all the time and it’s always when I’m in that spot.
A lot of whirlpools appear by front right foot and also by the turrets closest to front right foot. Not impossible, just need to stand in those spots.
I struggled with this for a while, but on my last attempt (because it was successful) I was in the area in front and left of his front right foot and I did actually see the vortex spawn and ran into it. I did turn my texture detail up, but not sure if that mattered. This is VERY frustrating with the Tequatl schedule and wait time for this event not to mention you could easily go down and will not get rezzed and probably miss the window while your running back. I used my guardian with all the heal power I could get.
I actually saw one today, bloody missed it, but saw it at least, it was way over on the last island on teqs right side, couldn’t get there in time. Oh well, at least I know they still actually exist.
Eric, I have my texture detail right up all the time anyway (I have a beast of a machine ). Yeah, I think the schedule is the most annoying as it means during the week if I am not at home, I only get to have a go once or at most twice a day.
Not impossible. I got it and completed dusk. You gotta be in a almost full map. Try going in 5 min before it starts. Thats how I did it.
Finally got it, was in a non full map, had to play it at 3pm GMT to do it though (luckily I can work from home now and again).
