-Go go Espartz.-
Is the only way for these to spawn to fail in phase one of the event?
Do they spawn at any other phase of a successful event?
They will spawn if the burn phases aren’t fast enough. It’s best to go only a couple minutes early to a map that isn’t full but still trying.
Don’t forget to hold your control key when under to see the chest.
There are a bunch that spawn directly in front of the turrets. Hard to miss once you know what you’re looking for. You don’t have to fail in phase one, but they’ll disappear quick. Once you see Teq getting close to 75% health you might want to break off a bit and stand near the turrets so you can grab it while they’re up.
3rd failed attempt.
1st we DPS too fast and ultimately finished the event.
And two consecutive times didn’t even get it to 25%.
This is what happens when you don’t play the game and choose
the collection requirements for the precursors by reading the wiki.
Basically I have to be on a fail map,or do whatever I can to fail the map,
but just make it past the first phase,or convince a zerg of hundreds of players
to lay off the DPS.
What an epic and truly legendary journey.
This is fun meta innovative gameplay at it’s best.
Today is the Sparkly Fen Daily also so there are many people on those maps, and doing the Teq run basically fills that with the different events in it. You may want to try when that’s not happening and there are less people/less dps.

Happened to me a few days ago. I’ve done Teq dozens of times (usually on N defense team) and had no idea that could happen, lol.
Thank you for your answers guys,I’ll keep trying.
But, am I the only one who sees the huurduurness
in asking from the players to play content in a non optimal,
almost fail way,in order to achieve getting the best rewards
in the game?
This could be anecdotal joke material if it wasn’t true.

Non-optimal, yes, fail, no.
Since HoT launch, the zerk meta is really not as prolific as it is. If you’re a hardcore Teq farmer like I am, you’ll notice that it’s very hard to find a map that successfully chains all the burn phases anymore. The reason is because most players bring characters that are wearing gear for other purposes such as raids to Teq. Same reason why nowadays it’s so hard to find a full zerker group for dungeons. With such a significant drop in people bringing full zerker gear to Teq, DPS has been consistently slower for Teq since HoT launch.
If you’re finding difficulty getting sucked into whirlpools, you’re probably doing it wrong. If you get to Sparkfly Fen 10 minutes before spawn, you’ll almost certainly wind up in a non-optimal map that can still successfully complete it while having whirlpools for at least after the 1st burn phases.
That gives you two chances for whirlpools, once right before the first battery event, another time after the 1st burn. The subsequent burns go much better cuz there are a lot of traits and skills that deal bonus damage once an enemy is below the 50% health threshold.
if you arrive 20 min before, you’re likely to end up in a well-organized PUG map. Good for fast kill, bad for whirlpools. If you join an organized guild map, you’ll likely get consecutive chaining burn phases with only whirlpools right before the 1st battery event, also great for fast kills and bad for whirlpools.
So to answer your question, no, it is very easy to get a map with lots of whirlpools that don’t fail. You just need to know when to show up. Don’t show up on the dot in case you get a really lousy map, which is very likely. Goldilocks time for your collection needs is 10 min before spawn. And do it on a weekday. When you come in, check and see if your map is taxiing people in. If it’s sparse and players are lazy to get organized, taxi your way out. At 10 minutes before spawn, the late maps will start getting organized. The most organized maps at this point in time will be full so you won’t get in, which is fine. You just need to get into a late organized map that has people working to get it full, and you’ll have a slow DPS-ing full map that will get the kill and lots of whirlpools. Ideally, you should also be ferrying in people in LFG into your late Teq map until you can’t get anymore in.

I got into a whirlpool right after the NPC that gives instructions said something about “avoid the whirlpools”, I was right by his front feet and he was around 75%. I saw nothing special about the fight, there were masses of people there as always and the damage rate didn’t seem out of the ordinary.,
Na.Thank you for your answers again, but I believe it’s just time
to take a break from GW2.
The Teq whirlpool thing is bad enough, now I have to play the
map hoping game and find a Cursed Shore where the defence
phase of Grenth Temple has failed in order for the attack phase
to spawn, because the mobs that apply corruption won’t spawn
otherwise.Given how easy it is to even solo the defence event,I don’t even.
I’m sorry but this is not serious gameplay. These are gimmicks to say the least.
Spend hours in a map and then ask from your fellow players to FAIL and event
so that you can finish a collection.
Whomever thought this is a good idea.It isn’t.
I was worried about not getting this achievement as well. but its still possible to get it.
I got to the map during the low pop hours, after midnight. even though the server is big. there is still a chance to just the right amount of people to hop onto your map. don’t try right after daily reset. there is way too many people.
I also didn’t do much to help the boss battle knowing that my DPS would push the opportunity window.
look carefully. the Whirlpool animation can get overlapped by the terrain.
I do Teq frequently and still see the pools spawn often at 75% and sometimes after first burn. I tend to pop onto the map 10 min before the fight or less. You just need to know where to be. As mentioned, in front of the turrets is a good place, as is near the little island by his foot. Try manning north boats or north hills defense team, which might help you see them.
I try to do teq every day if I can. I still see the pools quite often even when I am doing it at reset time. It’s kinda luck of the draw.
That being said, I wouldn’t sweat it. Just keep showing up to the event and you will (literally) stumble into one of the whirlpools naturally haha
