Well … Since some time ago we’ve crossed the some kind of one-year line, I’ve decided to whine a bit on this subject.

So. I’m killing Tequila almost every day throughout the year. Sometimes two times per day. Sometimes even 3. Guess if I have at least one skin?
But my friend, who visited after a six-month break, just got 2 for 2 nights. I would not say that I envy him. In this situation, I was irritated by the fact that nothing depend on me here. If u add something of value to loot, isn’t it necessary to add some way to get it? Well, badges for example. I think after hundreds of such topics on the forum it’s time to understand that the RNG enrages people and spoils the enjoyment of the game. Personally I, to put it mildly, have start to lose enthusiasm. I do not think I’m the only one. Sooner or later it all comes to the situation that peo ple like me will just stand afk near the boss (because every1 are sick of it) or just forget about it because of futility. All patience has a limit, you know…

The RNG for that is pretty nuts. I’ve had three chests drop in the past month. Initially I thought the drop rate might just be modest, but I’ve talked to a lot of people that have done it hundreds of times and never had a drop.

No you don’t.

I killed him for the first time on my wifes account over the weekend, no mini.

Ive killed him 60+ times on my account, no mini, no Hoard, but 3 ascended(the 3rd one dropped 2 days ago, Knights stats).

The RNG drop rates is garbage with this boss, and now that they added a spoon as a place holder for Teq unique loot, the RNG on the ground chest is EVEN WORSE.

I am at the point where I see no point in continuing to kill this boss, let alone playing the game, anymore. Its dull, has lack luster rewards, and is a complete time sink(Wait and Prep) for a 13-15 min encounter.

WvW and sPvP seem to be Anet’s Focus on this game now (PvE involves the LS releases – which take me 2-3 hours to complete ON AVERAGE – and SOME revamping of the bosses)

Anet needs to get their heads out of their kitten ’s and think of better ways of handing this kind of content.

I have 50+ Tequalt events completed and, so far, the significant loot I got was 2 exotic pieces of armor, 1 ascended weapon chest and last week finally got the mini teq.

WvW and sPvP seem to be Anet’s Focus on this game now (PvE involves the LS releases – which take me 2-3 hours to complete ON AVERAGE – and SOME revamping of the bosses)

Ah no. Do you realize WvW didn’t had a significant change in over one year and that’s accepting EoTM as a part of the WvW system. Anet only promotes WvW tournaments when the Living Story is on a break.

People have put this idea out there for Teq, Fractal skins, and even Precursors from the mystic forge, I doubt it’s even remotely going to happen. Everything Anet does for this game anymore is to get you to log in 1 more day, and RNG is the best thing they can think of to do that(which is honestly sad).

I brought a level FOUR character down for fun, one day, on an account with no level 80 characters.

Guess what I got?

The ascended weapon box.

I had to level up a character on the account just to be able to use it.

There is no sense in RNG

Uhm…no. Those 2 game modes have received far fewer updates than the pve side of the game.

And thats why they should introduce tokens we can get from taco so we dont have to rely on the RNG god. Im waiting since over 300 runs for a skin, but I already got 20 spoons -.-
But knowing how Anet handles this me and the OP are going have to wait 2 more years until this happens or more than 700 runs.

I can sympathise. I ran the Molten Facility dungeon soooo many times back during Flame & Frost hoping to get a Jetpack, but I never did. A guildie told me about a party where he had one of “those” guys who was bossy and rude and kept on going down while yelling about how the others weren’t “doing things right” (despite the fact that he admitted he hadn’t ever done Molten Facility before). The group gritted their teeth and basically carried him to the end, where the rude player who basically spent the entire boss fight dead proceeded to get a Jetpack.

RNG is RNG, but man, can it be a kitten at times. This is why I MUCH prefer the dungeon token system (and the system that was used in SAB). At least this way you know you’ll eventually get what you want if you are dedicated/skilled enough.

I have managed 3 minis so far, but no ascended drop ever (while a friend just got 2 teq hoards in 2 days).
I hope they’ll introduce the token system for it soon, before i’ll give on it completely. The RNG is really ridiculous here.

The drop system for Teq is daft just like a lot of the other RNG in this game. I’ve done Teq over 100 times and have zero weapons. Why do we get those worthless spoons every second day? They should be taken out of the loot table after you get your first one.

Yeah, I think systems work best when there is a combination of RNG AND linear progress, like a system in which you get BOTH a token AND an RNG chance at cool loot, but even if you roll poorly for the RNG, you still get tokens, and eventually they add up to that same cool loot. I don’t think that anything in the game should ONLY be available as a result of RNG (at least not RNG with a chance of lower than 5% or so), everything should be acquirable though some alternate means, even if that means that you’d definitely need to do a task a bunch of times, at least you’re constantly making progress.

Dry Top is another good example of a broken system. You constantly acquire geodes through activities there, and with them you can buy Ambrite recipes and lockpicks. With picks you can open chests, and sometimes get fossils from it. Personally I’ve acquired about 20 of these things, more than I need, but others haven’t found hardly any. The ideal system would be one that mixes the two, one in which Ambrite recipes have a chance to drop, about half the drop rate of fossils, while fossils can be bought for geodes, perhaps one for 600-700 or so (the cost of around 30 picks). It would be a very expensive way of doing it, but without the random chance involved, and players could either choose to gamble, or choose to play it safe, or do a bit of both.

I think that the addition of badges and individual sellers of world boss thematic loot would dramatically raise their popularity as a whole. Currently, people normaly killing Tequila on just a few servers. And normally killing wurm… well…. nowhere. Here AFTER this addition, you can raise the difficulty of the bosses.

Yeah our guild organizes daily for tequatl many of us are approximately 100 or so kills for teq and I think only 1 or 2 in the guild have claimed to have gotten his hoard chest. On a side note, we have plenty of spoons!

There is a selection bias at work (would you still be doing it after 100 runs if you’d gotten the drops you want?) — though I feel your pain. I started doing Teq again recently when I found myself randomly on a good map, and discovered that it is reasonably doable without camping on the map for 30m; and (other than people who lay on the ground dead) it’s fun, even on maps which fail.

On one of my first runs (perhaps my first run since I finished the achievements long ago), I got a hoard chest.

I’ve been doing it daily since (occasionally on multiple accounts), but haven’t gotten another chest. OTOH … I might not still be doing it if I hadn’t gotten one hoard drop — or if I wasn’t trying to get a matched set of weapons.
