Thank you.
I believe his name is Colin Johanson.
Well, if that’s what he actually said then more power to them. I as well feel that strengthening the current content is way more important then adding new and trivial ones. Plus the game has alot of areas where it needs improvement like Fractals for example.
No extra content? Wow, well I guess what they said about an expansions worth of stuff being added soon was a lie?

Woops. xD I just woke up, spelling mistakes are bound to happen.
Next to content/storyline, whats most important to me are RETURNS for playing. Returns such as gold, treasures, new items, all shinnies!! I want to find fun ways to make alot of gold and have a steady stream of new items to buy with it. If Anet need to make money in their gem store, all they have to do is simply stock it up with alot of items that are more beautiful.

“In saying this will be an expansions worth of stuff in these releases, we’re talking about the number of new features that will be rolled out across PvE, WvW, and PvP in early 2013, which usually you’d only find in an expansion for a traditional MMORPG.””

Just, because there isn’t really new content into the game, doesn’t mean it’s not an expansion.
They’re re-designing several of the games original features to work better, and function correctly. This is way more important then continually adding in new content, and never fixing the old. So just, because they’re not releasing new areas, and classes. That doesn’t mean they’re not changing the core game. He’s saying they’re changing that the original game is hopefully going to be improved, and have a better experience.
That’s what I got from his comment.
I agree completely.
Whoever in ANet HQ understood that we have enough world space but not enough world depth has my full gratitude.
There is no need for new maps that everyone will ignore, we need a reason to visit the current world, more depth to it, more world bosses on every map, etc.
I agree completely.

I totally agree.
I’m gonna bring up an old game here, but Runescape made the mistake of never, ever fixing their old content that desperately needed to be fix. This made the community even more mad, because back when I still played magic was seriously broken, and pvp combat was also broken. They never fixed it. They kept pumping out new content.
So fixing the old content can benefit the entire game.

He means… “No new content” equals old content revamped & maybe some of the newer items added to it.. ie. more FotM kitten.
We’ve been awake since March 2007! Please help!
“GW2 the game with more rolls than roles!”

No one played RuneScape for its combat but for its multifaceted crafting and questing system and it’s possibilities to RPG Jagex actually really managed to break out that straight tunnelsystem- there was everywhere something to do for everyone. So most of the World felt alive. But your’re right- they just added instead of fixing- and when they fixed something they screwed it up^^

I honestly hope they add in a dueling option, and a free for all type spvp, and 2 vs 2, and stuff like that.

Not necessarily.
Content = stuff to do.
They can add new content to the existing world. Considering their aim is to strengthen the existing content, that makes sense.
Time is a river.
The door is ajar.

I get the feeling FOTM will be substantially emptier when they put ascended gear on the karma vendors and dynamic event chests.
This was an awesome post by Colin and exactly what is needed, the game world is so beautiful -devoting time to it rather than pumping out new content is exactly the right thing to do.
Also him saying quality of life improvements makes me wonder about things like preview tab in TP, maybe some of the mini games in cities etc.
What do you guys think would be small simple things that improve your experience because they add up?
Agreed, TS.
The open-world content that’s already in place is great – so great I’m really enjoying just alting without doing instances, but especially the DE’s that are already in place feel too small in scope and too repetitive, like placeholders. Vastly increasing the number, scope and depth of the DE’s in the world is going to lift this game from excellent to peerless, IMO.

I’d like to see the individual DE’s turned into zone-wide campaigns, and the way those events play out scripted out over a period of a week to a month rather than a couple hours. If they program it right they can alter the flow of these campaigns to make them feel unique with the flip of a few variables.
It would create a world in which the dynamic events never felt the same twice.

That would seriously rock

I would love to see more in-depth content like this as well. This is a brilliant idea.
They should also get rid of the majority of escort quests. ._. They’re not fun!
The game seriously needs to be looked at and finished off, so I welcome this news. It just wasn’t ready for release, but it was pushed out anyway (despite many known issues from beta still being present) and since then we have had Halloween and Christmas as well as a content patch, but only the more serious bugs/exploits have been corrected.
The game is suffering from lack of maintenance to correct the bugs and QoL issues (such as respawn rate) that are dragging it down, I just hope these issues are going to be the priority for the incoming patch.
And then there is the underwater combat, and the underwater skills synergy with the Traits (ie why does my Auramancer have no underwater Aura etc). Maybe we should have a separate trait setup for underwater combat, as we do with utility skills? There is still much to do to get the existing content to a high standard. With Easter being the next major holiday, they have time to get the game to the standard it should have been at for launch.

Your idea for underwater skills, that would mean double, or more skills to unlock. If this was made I would like to see two trait points per skill challenge, and 2 trait points at level 5. This will keep it even out, because 1-80 leveling I barely had to go underwater for any hearts/DE only a few.
Although I really like all the stuff they have planned for Jan/Feb/March, I really can’t wait to see what will be in the next real Expansion.
Cheers.

I honestly do not care about seeing an Expansion already. They game hasn’t even been out for 6 months, and they’re already releasing, and or planning on an Expansion?
That’s like getting DLC that was already on the disk, but you would have to pay to unlock it.
I rather much see them work on the original game for at least at year , and have PTR servers before they talk about expansions. If they work on the original Guild Wars 2, and listen to the community wants, and needs. It will improve content for Expansion, because then the Dev know what the players want.
Tournament PVP features should be the priority.
PVEers have already been given fractals and all the event stuff which was an absolute truckload of content and stuff to do.
It’s PVPers’ turn!
Content doesn’t only mean new maps, can someone at ArenaNet teach these guys something?
Take your time to improve the game, but please, don’t disappoint us…
Darn…was really looking forward to a new profession to add to my current 8.

I agree with the OP. ANet is even more on the ball, faster, and definitely more equipped to handle their challenges than they were with GW1. It’s wild. They’re awesome at their jobs is all I can say.
Eventually we’ll get an expansion, but right now making the game even better is a really good goal, and we’ll benefit.

Well in GW1 they were 30 people, now they are 300+
So far Anet updates have never disappointed me, so I can safely be hyped for the ones coming these months.
Reading the post from Colin it seems he has mind-reading skills because what he listed was exactly what I wanted from the next update, word by word. Scary.
The only thing he missed from my wishes is to create a “common district” for maps in the world so that we can all play together with people from other servers (thus eliminating the “empty maps” issue), but perhaps they’ll find another way around it.
