Southsun is one of my favorite zones. It’s beautiful and unique. Unfortunately, it suffered from some serious risk vs. reward issues and a lack of content, resulting in a lack of players to play what little content it had.

I don’t know if today’s update (or the announced sequel) will be sufficient to make Southsun a sufficiently-popular zone after the 11th when this wraps up, but I appreciate the effort. I want this to succeed and I want to see this gorgeous zone become lively.

I think from a story PoV there’s some explaining that needs to be done.

Hail unfortunate refugee! You may have lost your home, friends and family but fret not, you will be provided for. But fret not for we have arranged a home for you at Southsun Cove. Those reports you have heard about giant horrors of old populating that isle are grossly exaggerated. Now please file onto the awaiting ships … I said please file ONTO the awaiting ships … NOW!

We are heroes. This is what we do!

RIP City of Heroes

Unless something changes very significantly there, it will be empty again shortly after the event ends.

Ye thank you! Southsun is the most beautiful zone in the game, and I love to go there once again.

If I can’t play Guild Wars 2 at work, I won’t work in Guild Wars 2 either.

i like it aswell. Its unique like you said, but wait around 10 days and it will be dead askitten#8230; again

The cool content the (The events etc.) are only temporary so that means when they dissapear, the place will be just like before. Except the karka toss ofc, but how many will farm that mini game for months?

No one knows yet what is temporary and what is not. According to the devs, some of the content will stay behind.

The game draws inspiration from the crab guild challenge but plays a bit differently. There’s achievements, titles, and prizes for participants and winners.

Crab Toss will only be around for the duration of living story events at Southsun Cove. But don’t be too sad, as far as activities go, you might have a very exciting year ahead of you.

We don’t know for sure that there’ll be nothing after the event, they might still add some story stuff and attractions ta make the Cove a fun place to hang out. Listening to people talk on the beach was amusing, though I’m not sure I liked being forced inta my skivies – I’d ah liked the chance to wear my town clothes at least.

But there could be some cool stuff done on the island if they add some and turn it inta an actual resort … (unless, of course, everyone dies when the new big bad shows up) I’d love to see them add some more minigames, bonfires, and random beach stuff once this is all over. Probably not, but we can hope.

I’m sorry I stepped outta yer box, don’ worry, if
ya whine enough they’ll put me right back.
