Like the title says, I just want to thank Anet for listening to our begging and releasing the Mini Mystical Dragon in the US/EU too. <3

If you didn’t get yours yet: Turn on 2-step-authentification for your account. If you already use it, turn it off and on again and you’ll be rewarded with your dragon.

The code is found in your ‘My Account’ Security page, when following the instructions to enable Two-Step Authentication.

Good luck.

What!

That’s amazing! I’ve been wanting that dragon for so long, and meaning to turn on the two-step authentication now that I actually have a compatible phone.

I’ll have to do this as soon as I get home tonight.

You’ll probably have to contact Support to unlink. However, wait a day. I read that the mini will be sent tomorrow to all people who already have the authenticator.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

You don’t use that “secret code” to get into the game, you use the authenticator, which will give you the actual numbers you have to use to log in. If you lose your phone (or whatever device you installed the authenticator on), you’ll have to contact customer support and they’ll disable the authenticator, at which point you just redo everything you did before to set up a new authenticator on a new device.

My WinAUTH doesn’t ask for a “code”, a password, yes.

This is how I did it:

1) Login to your account, click security, click Edit on 2-Step Authentication.
2) Click Unlink, which should give you a form that wants two codes.
3) Start WinAUTH, enter password you used to secure it.
4) This should take you to the WinAUTH form with GW2 logo and what looks like a large refresh button on the right.
5) Clicking the refresh button generates a code which appears next to the GW2 logo for a few seconds.
6) Enter this code in to the first box in your Unlink Form.
7) Wait a minute.
8) Click the refresh button in WinAUTH to generate a second code.
9) Enter this code in to the second box in your Unlink Form.
10) Click Unlink. Done.

Failing that you’ll have to email support and ask them to unlink it.

Because it looks like a noodle XD And a group of people with them create some air-spaghetti xD

There’s another game where you can tame dragons that you can ride, fly, use for diving and stuff and that you can let fight with you. They had these chinese dragons during an event in different colors. Everyone wanted one. They looked the same and were called “noodles” all around. That’s why. xD I just think it suits then xD

I love my ‘Noodle’ though <3

You only need to use the ‘extra’ code if you log in from another computer / network.
But you can switch the 2 step authentification off after receiving your mini if you do not like it. Though, I’d suggest to leave it turned on, as it makes it harder to hack your account and you won’t probably even notice it if you always log in at home only.

It doesn’t matter if you forget the secret code. I made that mistake just now but luckily it is saved in the WinAuth.exe app. Just open it up and right-click your Authenticator and choose ‘Show Secret Key’.

And what if someone doesn’t have a Smartphone?
How do they get the Mini?
I would be quite surprised that ANet would now be segregating rewards to the haves and have nots outside the game.

Thanks for that. I have a lot of accounts in my authenticator app, having to remove re-add it for this would have meant having to remove and re-add every single one, as they are not reorderable and I need them in a particular order.

No, I don’t think so. This is something that gives you a code and you type that code in another place (the Guild Wars 2 log in screen for the Windows version).

Correct, it’s not the same.

Rainbow, go into “My Account” under ‘Services.’ Then go to the “Security” tab. On the left hand side, click on 2-Step Authentication and follow the instructions to set it up.

It’s a good idea and I appreciate it. Although idk how effective it is with securing accounts since a lot of people just activate it, get mini, deactivate.

I think the way wild star or FF AR does this is much better. You could reduce waypoints by 20% or increase XP/mastery point acquisition by 5% or something while the authenticator is active.

How do you know that a lot of people just activate then deactivate it?

Even if a fair number do deactivate, and I’m not so sure so many do since once you tell it to trust the computer it doesn’t ask again for that computer but runs silently in the background, the number that leave it are more than they had before which will save them money with reduced Support costs, and at only the cost of one mini pet.

Be careful what you ask for

Any info about how long you can get the mini? Since I use e-mail authentication I’ll have to set this whole 2-step-authenticator-thingy up, something I definetly don’t want to do in a hurry. So if I install during next weekend, will I still get the mini or is there some tight time gate?
