The Amazing Warrior.
If you’ve ever played D&D/Pathfinder/etc, I think it’s like the fighter in that. Fighters are simple – they hit things with weapons. To make that interesting, they are much more customisable than most other classes, allowing you to be tactical with your relatively simple role and make it your own.
Similarly, profession mechanics for most classes define a kind of play style. They give unique capabilities and flavour to each profession (as class features do in D&D). The warrior has an extremely simple mechanic, some would say boring, but what it means is that you get a lot of freedom with traits and such. You can decide what you want to do with a warrior, and every two weapon combo will lend itself to something different.
Zsymon, get back to us in a few days after you get bored of using the same few skills forever. GW2 classes offer less than any other mmo I have ever played.
warrior: awesomely made and solid as a rock, but insanely dull
I don’t find warrior that dull..maybe if all you do is play 5 signet + greatsword it would be..try running yojack’s build (sword+warhorn heavy support) or taugrim’s “captain hammer” build (cc/heal shout medium support ok dps) both are in the warrior forum and both definitely aren’t dull.
2 Mesmer (sPvP only)
Errr…warriors are bad…
I don’t know where you see that “versatility” you are talking about when they have only one viable build in PvP in order to be able to do anything other than run around and shout.
Seriously, play an elementalist, then tell me how versatile and effective a warrior is compared to that…
Apos, are you honestly telling me that an elementalist is worth anything at all compared to a warrior? Even saying that they are MORE effective? Are we playing the same game? Maybe you are thinking about the first beta session? Trust me since first beta, the elementalist was not hit with a nerf stick, but with a nerf roman marble pillar.
With an elementalist I will die against most single veterans, with my warrior I destroyed a group event ELITE boss along with 8 minions within two minutes, without ever going below 80% health, without kiting and without healing. This was in the norn area, at lvl20 or so it was, just after I got Deep Strike trait.
Exactly Kyokara, warrior is as fun and interesting as you make it.. if all you do is 100B with a 5 signet greatsword, then yeah you’ll be very powerful but also very bored.
There are many other weapons to use that are much more interesting and just as powerful in their own way, the warrior has many very powerful builds. I am not talking out of my behind, as I have played warrior myself, as well as every other class except necromancer, I just can’t get myself to playing an evil profession, but I don’t hear good things about the necromancer.

Warriors wear heavy armor, yet they drop dead within seconds. A well played elementalist has enough escapes and other mechanisms to survive for ages. Same goes for mesmers, thiefs ,guardians and to some lesser degree, necromancers.
Warriors have close to zero damage if you know what to avoid and/or cc them at the right time. Sure,a greatsword warrior will shred someone to pieces if he lands his bull’s charge and the target has zero stun breakers. IF is the keyword here.
Warriors have no versatility. Greatsword is the only viable weapon currently and even that falls flat against good opponents who know what to do.
To summarise, warriors are bad. Or maybe they aren’t bad, maybe they are just fine and balanced and everything else has just too many good skills, but that doesn’t change how extremelly the class is outshined in everything by almost every other class, except maybe one or two classes who have their own problems going.
I guess Apos, that everyone else must be wrong, and you must be the only player in the game that knows how bad the warrior really is?
Yes, I noticed playing the Warrior in this game, you actually feel like your playing one, and part of it.

Sure, don’t mind me, just do some pvp and see for yourself how much of a gap there is when you get to play against someone who is actually good.
Apos, you don’t use the greatsword against skilled players, the greatsword is for zergs and for killing newbies who don’t use a stun breaker and who don’t dodge. There are plenty of other weapon builds you can use as a warrior to play on high level sPvP and in duels against skilled players.
A tanky sword condition build for example, is less flashy, but very effective against skilled players. You get rid of power and critdamage, and you stack toughness, vitality and condition damage. Useless build for dungeons, but very effective in high skill pvp.
The warrior can pull this off much easier than a ranger for example, because to avoid damage from the ranger all you have to do is face him, that’s why most rangers go class cannon, their condition build is too easily negated and only works in teams. Personally I try to find a mix between power, precision and crit damage, while bringing toughness up as high as I can, while using signet of renewel to deal with condition damage.

meh, I’m not ragging on them, I may eventually level one, but I “personally” find them dull and it’s not just me even though I’m sure there’s a ton of fans of warriors too etc, honestly? it’s just the fact that I prefer the perceived superior utility of a guardian to a warrior any day, dmg is nice but support is better for what I enjoy ingame
I don’t disagree Hellkaiser, the problem with support in WvW is that you get no rewards for it at all. You can play all day without getting anywhere that way.
