The Great Collapse area have NEVER (in Lore) been the Canthan area.

Where did ANet say that it was the canthan district? I thought that was just a theory.

some of the npcs still refer to it as having been Canthan.

In China, their history books make no mention of the Tiananmen Square incident either. It never happened.

Actually they only say something along the lines of being from the Canthan AREA of DR, that does not mean there were a specific district for Cantha however.

Really? I thought the big hole in the ground was amazing and mysterious. I remember when the screen shot of the great collapse was first released while the game was still in development and people were wildly speculating on Guru about what it was and what kind of content would be involved. Would we be able to explore those exposed undercity layers? Was there something more sinister than poor foundations behind the collapse? The first chance we got people were trying to jump off of the bridge.

I like the look of the Crown Pavilion, but the hole had added a lot of character to an otherwise grand, shining medievalesque city. It will be a shame if this update paves over the Great Collapse, never to be mentioned in game again. It would be so much wasted potential that clearly sparked the imagination of the player base.

I actually feel as though I’d rather the Cantha/ Art district back. I feel it’s a bit of a stretch and a bit appalling that a queen would rather build a giant structure in her honor over what used to be her people’s homes and recreational sector ¬_¬

Anet missed a golden opportunity with the collapse. They should have had an underworld dungeon there, with Canthan ruins inside. Maybe even some Canthan-themed monsters.
