The Barber NPC is a vendor that lets you preview your new hair/body. It uses the same interface as the self-style kit. However, If you want to get the new look, you will have to pay with the Self-style kit.
Why? Because I want to know what I want to look before I change my style.
Why should ANet add this? Because ANet can expect more money off of self-styling kits.
Is this for people that have no Styling Kits in their possession? So they might buy one?
Because if you have one, you can preview your look before committing. Lol, I need to do that some time, I have a few in my bank I’ve never touched.

It was great. You could speak to the NPC http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Anatomical_Engineer_Llye and see what you looked like with a sex change, new hair color, new hair style, face, skin color, etc without having to buy a kit first. It was a great motivator to buy and spend makeover credits.
I’d rather have a barber than those kits. Especially if accepted gold OR gems. I just really like little things like that used to expand the overall world.

I’m with videoboy on this one… get rid of the kits, give us a NPC we can pay for changes. it makes sense for RP-ers as well as the rest of you.
Good idea, currently I have to keep one Total Makeover Kit in my bank so that I can "preview" before I decide to get more kits.
