With all these rumors about sky pirates and maybe a new perma dungeon, new jp, new pvp map, class rebalance etc. Is this the big patch everyone is asking for? Thoughts?

For various reasons I really feel the next patch should be important. It is also going to be the start of summer, probably when students decide what they’re going to play/team up over the summer.

My hopes are up.

I wouldn’t hope for that. I’am curious to see next patch since it’s supposed to be a balance patch, particularly i’am curious to see Warrior changes, but i’am skeptical. Because it’s Anet. xP

I never really gave it much thought to be honest. I do think they try to give us what we asked for (even if it’s apparently not what we wanted, like when they responded to all the “not enough progression after 80!” threads with Ascended gear), but I think everything everyone has asked for in one update is highly unlikely. Especially since some requests contradict others.

I’d be happy if it included the ability to repeat Personal Story instances and a way to keep minis out 100% of the time.

It will likely be a large and wide-ranging update. There will be reactions both positive and negative, and at varying degrees of intensity.

I have foreseen it.

Like the way we got our hopes up with this game?

I still have hope for the game but at this point it is just going off in a direction that is difficult for me to follow, despite its enormous potential. And this began in November.

Like the way YOU had your hopes up for this game. We is a very strong word. You should probably use it less often.

Yes, there are people disappointed with this game. There are also people who love this game, even people with relatively high expectations. They were DIFFERENT expectations than yours.

I could theorize why they were different, but that ship sailed a long time ago. My expectations were largely met (with a few exceptions).

We were talking to an ArenaNet developer in Lion’s Arch and he was telling us that the stuff we’re playing now is content that just a couple of their teams created months ago. So basically they’re working on an expansion of some sorts while they have small living story teams assigned to create content bi-weekly, from what I gathered. If this patch really is big, I hope it signifies that some major project was completed and freed up some resources to work on this living story.

I sure hope this is whats happening, because having updates with go collect 150 of this, gather 250 of that ,light 50 of these talk to these npc gather these samples…it gets pretty dam boring. Anet is 300 ppl strong and i know not all of em work on new stuff but where are all these man hours going when the new content that they released takes so quick to design. Im not going to turn this into what anet is doing right or not but just an intresting thought. Loveing the base game still!! I want that lfg tool!

Right back atcha chief. Quit calling the kettle black. You are telling me the sky is blue. No sh_t. There are people that love the game, people that are disappointed, people that hate it. Im in the disappointed category at the moment. You are inferring that when I said “We” I meant 100% of the playerbase. Don’t be naieve .

I’m saying some guys make it sound like the sky is falling. I’m not alone in feeling that way. Yes, there’s stuff that needs improvement. No, it’s not unusual in an MMO that’s only out a year. Yes, stuff is being worked on. Yes, it takes a long time.

But it’s just as easy to say “I” as “We” and a lot more accurate.

Well. I’m slowly drifting away from the game. I used to be very involved, even bought gems to show support and gemstore items (NOT rng chests) that seemed cool.

What would make me interested in the game with an update would be a serious re-think of the combat system. For me it has become very dull (and I play 7 of the 8 classes). And I’d like them to also be faster paced.

The second thing I’m looking for in patches is a lot more evolving dynamic chain events (emphasis on chain) since this was the main hyping point of this game. And not big meta events because they have shown they are not capable, at this point, to make them anything but an “auto-attack snorefest with extreme lag and culling”.

The RNG kitten is also disgusting. Would like to see them stop with it.

In the meantime I’m playing Company of Heroes 2, Saints Row 3, Sleeping Dogs and Hitman, with many other games in the pipeline. I’m spending my money where it’s worth. Also looking forward to do some map creation in CoH2.

what i hope, since was promissed to come soon enough is:
-lfg tool , not a moment too soon
- improvment in lag and culling aka “tha end of pve culling!” since has ben “not volountarly” spoiled
- the end of “beta” for custom arena
-class balance

and these can be quite realistic expectations.

there can be:
-loot revamp!! as promised by colin “sometime this summer” but don’t hold ur breath
-the s@#][ hunt, that word u cannot say without flames coming dow from the sky
-areal toal split of wvw pvp and pve

thee are unlikely but still possible imho.

and then the third category, i call “leve your hopes”
-MOUNTS, no i’m pretty sure we ain’t gonna get them
-he end of rng boxes
- reintroduction of trinity
-the end of dailys
-locker for skins like pvp
-increased stack size for current collectibles
-dungeon tokens collectible tab or tokens “virtualization”

these are NOT likely to happen because most of them will reduce real money income or gold sinks or a enormus remake of the engine..
then we can switch off speculation mode..

owwwwwwwwwwwwwwww:
i red something from colin saying that they could be working on a method to lower the price orincrease drop of lodestones in general.., that was in the t6you think we ccan expect a similar trick soon? now sell sell sell sell sell

trolling and specultion of lol.

I also think Vayne is right, with the caveat that the correct pronoun for a sentence that has two subjects is “we”.

For example: We started to play the game together and had high hopes; however, they were disappointed with the removal of the peg leg from WvW and left the game. We may try another MMO together in the future.

Anything I post is just the opinion of a very vocal minority of 1.

From what he wrote it is clear of what “we” he was talking about :P

I’m with you on a lot of this but I’m not seeing why everyone thinks ‘the trinity’ is such a good thing. I’m not an MMO player, I played MUDs, and we never had a ‘trinity’. A system based totally around three types of classes is really boring and static. The way GW2 did it is great, IMHO, except that better healing options are needed for every class.

I think the most Rufus Xavier Sarsaparilla (look it up) and I can reasonably expect is to see the changes to the traits ANet has been discussing. A balance overhaul including a change to how weakness works. And possibly (but not necessarily) the “new” condition specific to Necros.

Hoping for more than that is asking to be disappointed.

Anything I post is just the opinion of a very vocal minority of 1.

i don’t really know, this is my first mmo so i have no idea if is bad or good, many threads ask for it, and imho is petty clear is not coming back.
if i had to chose i’d chose not have it since i don’t like fixed roles..
my post wasmore meant to recall all the promisses made to the player base. with a bit of trolling i admit lol.

It’s all fun and games at Guild Wars 2’s dragon bash until someone turns up murdered in Lion’s Arch. That’s what sets the stage for the newest game update, Sky Pirates of Tyria. Launching on June 25th, the update will see players thrown into a murder investigation headed by Inspector Ellen Kiel, forcing everyone to take part in several events to track down the perpetrator. If you’re thinking it’s going to have something to do with the eponymous pirates, well, that’s a reasonable guess.

This update sees the addition of a new dungeon, the Aetherblade Retreat, which pits players against pirates of a decidedly aerial nature. It also features a wide-scale revamp of traits and skills for every profession to promote a wider range of playable builds, a variety of new rewards including miniatures and monocles, and an all-new event tying into the upcoming novel Sea of Sorrows. Custom Arenas and Spectator Mode for PvP are also leaving beta, giving players more ways to enjoy a spirited battle with friends and enemies. Our own Richie Procopio will be taking part in a press preview this weekend, so tune in before launch for a closer look at the details.

it seems my cristalball worked for custom arenas, yai!!

With a zeppelin jumping puzzle and almost certainty that those Aetherblade armor skins will be available in the gem store, I’m already sold. Not much chance of this patch disappointing me, unless my Ele and Engie, who will be wearing those skins, suddenly become unplayable due to the “largest balance patch ever”.
