The Charr aren't great trappers after all...
Charr in a nutshell.
You put cheese in the bear trap. Eventually a rat tries to eat the cheese, and then the jaws snap shut, going straight over the tiny rat and making a loud noise. The rat is scared by the noise and runs away, but then realises nothing happened.
Eventually, the rats will be conditioned to ignore loud noises when they’re eating because it always happens and it’s fine. And then you shoot them.
…why not just shoot them when they come out then?
…why not just shoot them when they come out then?
Because you’re a Charr so obviously you’re using a giant cannon and you need a stationary target.
A giant cannon and 15 mins of Boasting about what an Invincible Legion does to rodents.
… and a scar to prove it!
Cats and their limited brains.. Pff…
I appreciate the introduction of the best profession in Tyria, but the feline way of handling problems is .. just .. not Asura-compatible.
and politically highly incorrect. (#Asuracist)
“We [Asura] are the concentrated magnificence!”
Well, truth be told, every race seems to exaggerate when dealing with basic problems… Gravity defying platforms as stairs for the asuras, for instance.

As a charr expert & a charr fan; this answer is 500% correct.
There were actual rat traps there before, but they were replaced with the bear traps during the New Player Experience because ANet was concerned that some players wouldn’t see the tiny traps.
Honest. >.>
No, really. <.<
In what way is it practical to use bear traps to help get rid of the local rat problem?
Well, I was going to put bear traps inside my house to kill any mice that get in, but now you’re making me think there are problems with this solution.
I don’t have any cannons like other people are suggesting but maybe something with rifles, string and cheese can be worked out.
ANet may give it to you.
Maybe the guy in charge of the traps misunderstood and thought they had an Inquest problem?
The charr get something that the other races don’t, and that is that there no such thing as overkill. Under kill on the other hand is a different story.
“They can’t see me. I can’t see them.”
Michael J. Caboose ~ RvB
What you’re all missing is that they added some extra springs into the middle of the trap, where the bait is. Now, when it’s triggered, the rat is launched up into the air as the teeth close.
Charr engineering at its finest.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.

I rather we use a cattlepult to handle the rat problems

Sounds reasonable. It worked in Monty Python, it should work here.
ANet may give it to you.
