This cheap parlor trick you use to Cull the amount of things rendered to make your engine seem better then it is is getting old real fast…..

I may of lagged like hell in SWTOR, and in DAOC, but at least I could bloody see the targets 2 feet in front of me.

9/10 when I die in PvP, it’s to something I can’t see, I have to scroll up and realize that it was some melee class beating on me that was invisible because you put a moronic limit on the amount of players I can see..

It’s simply not fun, I would rather lag like hell and at least know where to possibly kite away from. Or know when to run for that matter…

So either bloody fix this crap, or this will never be a true PvP game.

Whoa whoa, calm down a second…are you sure some of this isn’t on you end as well?

I have been in MASSIVE fights and I see everyone just fine.

As for straight calling out that this will never be a pvp game, that is simply untrue even if you are experiencing those issues.

This isn’t on my end Chris, if you’re not experiencing this issue, then you’re not doing World vs World at all and fighting large numbers, This is a bloody massive problem.

You can carry the water for the game in other ways, but you’re not going to carry the water on this issue.

And yes, this will not ever be a true PvP game if this issue remains, because people will get tired of it and quit..

He is right chris, WvW will NEVER EVER be seen as a truly PvP experience, when you can be running along seeing a few people fighting, then you die, only to wait a minute to see infact there were upwards of 50 people there.
Or you are defending a gate, and see a handful of people, so you jump down to get in their face, only to die, and see, again, 30+ people were actually there, just not loaded.

I havent touched WvW since i was brutally done in many a time because of the loading issue. Its no fun thinking you are making good, tactical choices with your world, only to drop because they didnt load, and then having to make that trek all the way back because the game forced you into dieing because the advancement of your team was destroyed by an invisible force.

And there has been threads about people all standing on top of each other, so it looks like 1 person, only to have them all run out to attack an advancing force, they had a shocking advantage because no one could see them until the enemy was dead!

I’ve experienced this in certain places, and my computer is very much a high-end computer. You’d think they’d give you the option to adjust this, but no. Probably for the same reason we’ve got no FoV slider or decent camera system.

Its definitely not our end issues, anet have already said how the system works and why it happens and have admitted its not working as intended, so they are fixing it, but IMO its killed WvW for me for a while at least.
Plenty of other stuff to do, just a shame really.

There is a thread about this and Anet posted in it. They explained why the issue was happening, that they were working on it and that they had not ETA.

So something you gonna have to put up with on the zerg servers. I’m on Tarnished Coast and I have never experienced it. I rarely have more than 50 on screen and it always draws them. My only other short term suggestion is make a nice little guerilla group for hit and run tactics and dominate supply camps. Avoid the zergs and clash against smaller groups.

At one point, the GPU-usage of the high-end pc was at 60% (with video memory around 40% usage) while the CPU usage was at around 70%. FPS still at a steady 110, but a lot of people are invisible.

What seems a bit weird to me is that it renders all allies -even those half a mile away-, but not enemies 5 feet away.

Are you sure this is for culling during graphic intense phases? Sometimes when I am totally alone and not in pvp at all, all I can see is my shoulders running around. Only way to solve it is restart game or portal around a few times until it decides to load.

So something you gonna have to put up with on the zerg servers. I’m on Tarnished Coast and I have never experienced it.

We’ve had it happen on TC also.
The most notable was a three way battle for Maguuma Garrison on Saturday night. The server suddenly decided that it was only going to render 10 people on the screen at any given time. Sure, i could still hit 10-70 people with a single melee swing, but I couldn’t see them. I don’t think Maguuma or EB ever knew the other side was there, and we held the garrison only because the Guild Lord was permanently invisible.

The real fun times were when the system decided that I wasn’t important enough to render on my own computer.

Been having this problem too even just standing in a city, the draw distance is stupidly short and is the same no matter what graphics settings you use. Its ridiculous when a huge zerg arrives in WvW.

In these screens you can see how short it is even when its not graphically intense.

Every single WvW is a fight between 5 visible allies, 5 visible enemies, and 50 invisible ones.

I’ve seen this happen with substantially fewer people involved, during PvE. It only happens in a couple of places though and it happens consistently. Because of this, I always thought it was map related.

Every single WvW is a fight between 5 visible allies, 5 visible enemies, and 50 invisible ones.

Yeah this is the one thing that is turning me away from WvW pvp right now. WvW pvp is why I wanted this game, so it is really affecting my opinion of this game in a negative way.

They did acknowledge and gave reasons for the way this is working so that is a good sign. Taking months to fix wont be a good thing though.

It happens all the time in PVE during defense events too. The NPCs just appear out of nowhere and people couldn’t see them coming.

this is HUGE problem that killed my WvW experience.
Have same issue with DE with big zerg runs (Grenth), i hit empty space and get kills out of air…

Kinda killed WvW for me as well tbh, which is a shame because it was the one thing I was looking forward to the most, lol

It does it with low numbers of characters present as well so either something is a bit screwy with the algorithm or it works [echo]in mysterious waaaaays![/echo]

More than once now I’ve been pottering along an open road en route to a waypoint and before I know it —WHAM!-- I’m right in the middle of six enemy raiders who are all slapping me purple. No warning. It’s like being dropped on by a Terminator squad from orbit. Presumably the group of six were able to see me approach, alone, and couldn’t quite believe what they were seeing. “6v1? This guy must have just arrived on the special bus. This will not take long…”

Until the problem is fixed I can’t afford (yes, afford – it costs money to repair armour after these Terminator squad planetfalls) to play WvW anymore. Sad, because I was getting to like it (even the Zerging).

Strange how I’d conditioned myself to accept that’s how PvE was meant to work, but now that you mention it there are beasties warping in running. Happens a great deal on the Escort type missions. I’m not talking about seeing mobs spawn in the near distance, I’m talking about having them suddenly appear _within_ the player group already beating down on folks - en masse!

Not good is it. *sad face*

Maybe it’s a network relevancy packet throttling routine that decides how much traffic each client is sent based on how busy the server is at that moment. Perhaps you’ve not yet been unlucky enough to be packet shaped at just the wrong moment. I dunno, I’m just guessing. Whatever it is, it’s probably not working as well as was intended so with any luck it should only be a short while before it gets tweaked (or at least explained).

I was run over by an invisible Zerg once it was really funky as I was already falling asleep from playing late at night. Running up to a defenseless zone and all the sudden ghost zerg!!!!

Not that I have any idea about why it happened, but good to see others are running into it too.
