The sound of this has changed. It seems that they lessened how fast the sound effect is allowing you to hear the neighing of the unicorn. Also seems that the foot falls have gotten a little less bright or it might be they lessened the amount of footfalls it.

Have you seen changes to other legendary weapon effects?

Did it manage to get less annoying? If not, it can still die in balefire.

And the Howler fans still have no reprieve from the nerfing of their legendary.

Please please please get rid of the new sound on the Dreamer. It is driving me mad (as user) let alone people around me. I did Melandru this morning and had complaints, and had to apologise. It’s so irritating when you need to use shortbow for an extended time.

Edit: oh I just realized… a “new” sound? they made it even more annoying? o.o

I agree, my regular group I play with have a couple of dreamers. when they start up with the bow at the same time, I have to turn my headphones off, or the games sound off. I can’t stand it. It gives everyone that is around a headache.

Quite.

I’ve seen very few posts requesting changes to The Dreamer and yet it gets one. Howler has been diluted to the point where it doesn’t deserve to be called a legendary and there are many complaints about this to which ANet fails to respond – at all.

So disappointing.

Why did you change the audio file of the dreamer? The sound was bugged for ages and then it was “fixed” a few patches ago and now, it’s horrible. Sounds like a sped up sample of the unicorn finisher :-/
I preferred the audio clip before this patch 29/9/15

+1 fully agree. I’m even sad now i made the dreamer. Especially the ‘divine magic’ for lack of better term sound, is now gone (pure unicorn, not a magical glowing projectile) anymore. That was the best part of it, it’s gone now. It also is much faster annoying now. I’d categorize dreamer now as annoying almost as quip, wich is not good.

Please fix.

I’m confused.

When I first crafted by Dreamer, sometime in the first year of the game, I was somewhat concerned that the “neighing” sound would get annoying. Fortunately, after a days, the concern turned to satisfaction that my legendary had a unique sound, much different than the typical pew-pews.

When the sound was changed to its most previous incarnation, I was very disappointed that the difference between Dreamer and other bows was watered down. But, I accepted it.

Now that the unicorns are back.. it is quite obvious, and I can imagine giving some people the same impression I first had.

My advice: wait.. be patient, it will grow on you

There were two sounds in the past, unicorn ‘shouting’, and a magical wave (the arrow moving, was like a ball of light wave in mmo terms of magic sounds). That one is gone, and i liked it a lot. I don’t care to much about the unicorn sound (wich one) that is used.

Recently made changes to Dreamer were really upsetting.
From my point of view this is very bad practice, which shows certain disrespect to players. This invalidates enormous efforts collecting gold/materials/items for Magic Forge precursor gambling and so on.

I could propose a solution, but I don’t know if it would be easy to implement / developers would be willing to make it.
As there wasn’t any transparency behind these changes (have some players asked for changes or developers themselves though they had something to change?), I think the solution which could please different-minded players would be allowing to select Dreamer (and probably other Legendaries) sounds in similar fashion like weapon stats are selected for Legendaries.

In any case I am asking ArenaNet developers to listen to your fans and give us back those properties we were/are making Legendary for.

I could say the same thing about the first time it was changed… but I don’t. If I was going to be upset about something, it would be how the original shortbow range was hobbled back shortly after I made my Dreamer.

Fortunately it’s a short bow so that’s pointless, a bow that has the same range as tossing a balloon!

I also find the new sound annoying. I’d suggest either making the sound happen less often or making an alternative silent skin that is also unlocked when you unlock the normal one. Having a sound option for legendary sound like the player instrument volyme might be the best option but it depends on what’s easiest to implement.

The bow also gets silent for me at times but my party still hears it. I don’t know what causes that but it doesn’t seem intended.

While this weapon looks very nice, holy cow the constant horse noises it makes is extremely annoying. I don’t see how anyone can use it listening to that all the time.

I’m not asking anyone to not use it, or Anet to do…..whatever it is that Anet does or anything like that.

I just wanted to vent a little bit. Carry on.

EDIT: Oh, I wasn’t aware that there was already a thread about this. Glad to see I’m not the only one who thinks the sound it makes is very annoying.

I made the mistake of commenting in map chat about the annoying sound that the Dreamer makes now and questioned how the user could stand it. Boy did that set things off.

Two Dreamer owners stood next to me for a couple minutes spamming whatever skill makes that noise while targeting nothing, and one other player got so salty towards me in map chat I had to use the report function.

So lesson learned. Suffer that annoying sound in silence.

The sound was the one thing that concerned me when I decided to make The Dreamer, I didn’t mind it when I was around other people using it but I thought if I was using it all the time it’d really annoy me.

The old version I didn’t mind, but the new version is really starting to irritate me after just a few days (I couldn’t play for a while after it was updated, so it’s only this week I’ve heard it).

I hope it gets changed back.

Hi,

I have a huge suggestion. Maybe it is better to make The Dreamer sound less frequent. I mostly play with my thief, the shortbow is making this annoying noise everytime I fire.
I love it, the animation and everything, but due to it sound I actually changed it recently to a regular one. Couldn’t stand it.

I am not saying take it away totally. It is a nice additional future, but please, pretty please, make it less frequent.

I’ve had to completely mute my volume on numerous occasions in the passed few days because someone is using this bow. I don’t remember it ever being this loud, but it’s horrifically obnoxious.

Is there anyway for me to mute the sound of it on other players? I’ve tried turning down player instrument sounds, but that’s done nothing.

Its loud and its spammed over and over and over. If I didn’t know better I’d think it were someone trolling and trying to be as annoying as possible.

My Bifrost doesn’t make extremely obnoxious sounds, and I don’t want it to. The flying ponies and rainbow footfall is enough, it’s very evident that you have the legendary with the animations alone, I don’t need to be deafened while I’m at it.

By all means, leave it as it is, but I’d really appreciate a way to mute the sound for it other than muting my entire game just because of that bow. At the moment all I can hear is screaming ponies every 1 second, and it’s not subtle, it’s louder than everything, including my own spells.

Speaking as someone who has the Dreamer, uses it as my main weapon on my main character and loves it I agree with the OP.

The sound was changed recently (last update before HoT if I remember correctly) and is much more annoying than it used to be.

I’d really like to see them either change it back to the old one, which was far less annoying, or make it slightly quieter and only activate every 3rd attack or so. The way it is now they all blend into one and just sound extremely weird and irritating.

It isn’t the volume I have a problem with but the pitch. It’s too high :( While too much bass is annoying too much in the other direction is too. I’m all for it making a friendly neighing sound but please replace the sound file with a playful whinny.

I have the bow myself (made it when it fired unicorn head projectiles) and like it (even the projectile changes +1 on the pop culture/hipster reference by the way) but sometimes Rainbow Dashiell gets too obnoxious especially in certain areas.

I have the lover and someone messaged me and asked me if there was a way to turn the sound off my bow. He said it was annoying, which shocked me, because I thought they did away with the sound because I don’t hear it. Everyone else that I play with, hasn’t said a word about the sound. Then I found this forum about it…now I am really confused. I have updated everything, and i STILL don’t hear it. Any other suggestions? This this issue still getting looked into?
