Been playing since beta, all professions and crafting disciplines maxed, map completion, etc. etc. I’ve stopped playing, though.

I can appreciate that Anet is congratulating themselves for being innovative and changing the MMO paradigm for content release, but I remember when Factions was about to be released, the preview weekend, the tremendous excitement.

which brings me to why dribbled feature updates are not getting me interested in returning.

what would?

new playable races
new professions
new crafting disciplines or upgrades to current lines
new continent to explore with multiple maps. (for example, we’ve had ONE map introduced since launch, Southsun Cove. A beautiful and well-designed map imo.)

My point: there’s no reason why a new race or a new map or a new profession can’t be introduced through living story….but the “christmas morning” effect of having an expansion with a whole new world to explore, new profession to master, new race to play, new crafting disciplines to master, etc. all at one time is gone with the Living Story method.

It’s obvious that I’ll have to change my expectations going forward, but i can’t force myself to be excited.

Anyone else in the same boat?

I can certainly understand where you’re coming from. Expansions are exciting.

Of course, they also generally cost money and getting content for free is also exciting, but in a different way. That’s assuming they do release the big stuff in the Living Story.

I’d personally prefer an expansion to what they’re doing, but I think I’ll have to reserve judgement to see how/where it goes.

Because I can get excited about little stuff, like the new weapons and armor and buffs for achievement points.

I can’t say I am. But then again, I don’t like having too much all at once.

I’d say it depends entirely on different things, like what the LS is about, little hints as to what is happening ect.

For example, if I saw the Tengu roaming around LA tomorrow, I’d feel the excitement of anticipation that something to do with the Tengu is coming up. Maybe leading elsewhere (Dominion of Winds), maybe unlocking them as a race, as well as a profession specific to them (which they teach the other races about of course) when you complete the LS.
