Why are there so many actions under the same key? Mesmer portal -> press F, res someone -> press F, pick up an item -> press F and even more stuff. It wouldn’t be so bad if we could actually map all those actions under different keys, or perhaps even choose our own priority but we can’t. I’ve died a few times because of this, or failed to destroy something fast enough because of this.

Lets say you’re taking a tower in WvW, you’re ramming the gate and the enemies put heavy AC fire on you, you stop using the ram for a second to heal yourself, and all of a sudden all you can do is res everyone around you, or try to target the ram in all the particle effects and targetable stuff (a completely different issue)

Another example is the Guild Bounty 2-MULT. This bounty becomes immune every 25% of his HP, and requires you to throw 5 sparks in a short amount of time. Same issue as above, a few people start dying and all of a sudden you can’t just press F to pick up the sparks, you have to target them, press F and then try to target 2-MULT again

I’d love to hear the reasoning for this (I assume literally everyone encountered this problem atleast once) and I’d also like to know if this could maybe be changed in the future. Feel free to share your problems you’ve had with this

Assuming you are using WASD to move about then F is a nearby key to attach to all interactions to. Just as V is dodge and R is run.

It would be nice to separate the button for getting loot from the button for picking up environmental weapons. Actually, I have no idea why I can pick up some warrior’s banners in the first place…

It can be changed in the options. In my client ‘F’ is strafe right and TAB is interact.

I know it can be changed, but I want to be able to choose if I want res, pick up, use siege etc all on different keys or the same one

Doesn’t matter, that’s the logic as to why it’s the way it is. Better than the enter key or mouse only as I’ve seen in other MMOs. It’s an action-y MMO so FPS logic rules.

Yes it sucks sometimes if you want to rez first/loot second or talk to NPC and not trigger the Fun Box someone dropped on them but 99% of the time you only have one choice of action.

It does need a bit of mine tuning. I end up wielding Warrior banners a lot of the time because everything is done via “F”.

Ideally there would be two buttons, and whenever there are two choices we are given two options. So I can chose to revive or build, loot of pick up a banner. if need be.

I personally like it. Yes, the ability to customize/change it would be nice, but I like that all interaction is through F. It means that I can reflexively hit 1 key to do almost anything. Repair? F. Siege? F. Talk? F. Build? F. Pick stuff up? F. Rez? F. I don’t have to worry about remembering which key to hit or hitting the wrong key, because there’s only one key.

Well, you can separate ‘picking up loot’ from the other actions, but that is about all.

It’s the worst thing I’ve ever seen in an mmorpg. I’ve died countless times because instead of interacting with an npc that I needed to hand something to, my character instead decides to bend down and pick up 20 broken claws. “Yay, we’re dead, but now I can sell these for 15 copper!”

With so many to choose from, I’m curious what you used to rank them.

technically f key is just 1 action, activate whatever the on screen command is.

loot has an option to be another key, just very people use it (which is odd given that it’s an AOE loot all)

Let us buy vendor mats (eg spools of thread) in 250 stacks, end the excessive clicking.

There aren’t many to choose from, that’s the weird thing. Most of the game is so polished that I’m surprised this piece of kitten made it into the release.
