I just made my engineer and I am looking to gear it with the best weapons available; legendary weapons. My weapon of choice being the shield, I figured I would start there.

So I began looking into aesthetics of this weapon and I found that there was no aura effect (unless the slight glow coming off the weapon is the aura effect which I feel is still pretty mundane compared to other legendary weapons) and also no footfalls. I can understand to a small extent a lack luster aura effect because many legendary weapons do not have over the top auras and can be subtle, however I feel as though it is almost a staple for all legendary weapons to have footfalls.

So I was wondering if this would be considered along with adding a nicer aura effect as well and for an added option for these features to be turned off upon preference in the character menu screen for people who prefer their legendary weapons with or without auras or footfalls or them both.

Thanks,
Tridanite

There’s probably no footprints because if you had a legendary main-hand as well it would use the footprints for that.

And you think the effect of it is mundane? When that thing is wielded it turns into a giant pulsing forcefield on your arm… Hardly mundane.

This is definitely one of the legendaries that I feel needs some love.
The design of it is awesome, but it does need some additional aura/footsteps effects. Some people have suggested leaving a trail of pages as you walk, that might be cool.

I hope anet doesn’t forget about the old legendaries with the inclusion of the new ones from HoT.

I main a guardian, it’s a mundane and boring legendary. I already have a pulsy forcefield without a shield.

Disclaimer: Under no circumstance should you take this seriously.

This is one of my favorite legendaries. I was so happy when I finally made it.
I don’t think it needs footprints but a nice aura is welcome indeed. And perhaps some sound efects?
Other than that curent effects are good enough. A one of a kind skin

All of the other offhand only (torch, warhorn, focus) legendaries have footfalls.

It seems a lot of people tend to be a little misinformed about the shield, it has one of the most obvious and standout effects of all the legendaries. But it is rare to see one ingame, due to shield hardly being used, and screenshots are always zoomed in too far to show it.

The footprint effect of main hand weapons will always override the footprint of off hand weapons.

Shields are also basically worthless 99% of the time.

Hence making these effects for pure offhand weapons is a waste of time.
