The Flameseeker Prophecies III: The Chosen
o.O That’s a requirement for the shield? I’m so happy I don’t want to make that one! ANet likely has the metrics but I’d be surprised if any DT map ever bothers to kill the giant given that it takes up most of the sandstorm time to do so and doesn’t reward compared to doing lots of smaller events in that window.
They should nerf the giant, raise its rewards hugely (and announce they’ve done so), or change that collection requirement. Whichever is easiest for them to implement.
I don’t visit Dry Top more often than when I end up with extra keys or need to buy something, i.e. randomly. In those times, I’ve seen people (successfully) tackle the Sand Giant about 1/3 of the time. I feel sure you can manage it with your guild (unless it’s just 3 people).
Here are a couple of suggestions:
- Connect with one of the many groups dedicated to T6 dry top, e.g. [SAND]. Tell the commander your interest and ask for their help.
- Gather your guildies, form a squad, and use the LFG — you aren’t the only one interested in killing Ralph (not his real name).
- Start announcing early in /map that you are planning on taking down the SG.
You might have to give it a couple of tries. The dude has a lot of health, but he will go down if people bring DPS, cc him, and don’t get caught in his AoE.
Unfortunately yes. Already spend so much gold just a waste to giveup on this.

That’s lotsa work for just 400g prec, might as well buy it. They really need to chg that one.
That is a fairly ridiculous requirement. I’m still amazed they haven’t changed that fight after all the feedback about the issues with it, even if to remove the timer from it. Really though, I think it’s better they just altered the scaling to make it quicker to kill with a handful of people.
just today people in one of my guilds were killing it.
I finished that collection, but was apprehensive about killing the Legendary Sand Giant. People indeed don’t bother with it most of the time, and call outs in map chat usually get ignored, or it’s flat out stated it’s not worth it. However, I went to Dry Top and called it out in map chat, including my need to get it for the collection. People came and we killed it in one go. I didn’t even have to wait, beg or anything.
@OP: I don’t know if you’ve given it a try, but do so, and mention your need to finish the collection. If people hear you’re doing it for a specific reason, they might be more inclined to help out.

I did it. thx for the advice. I did call in map chat before but ppl just ignore it so i keep trying. but they really need to change that coz its really hard for 400g prec.
