The GW2 Next Expansion Wishlist
Some of those things, maybe in expansion number 3 (unless they have already been planned). Pretty sure new Elite Specializations are on the docket. I doubt much can be added to expansion number 2, as it is not that far off from release.
Good luck.

Well… Perhaps the biggest problems I can see for these suggestions would be for Guild Alliances (may require a rewrite of the guild coding) and the Guild List. (Calls to the server for the entire list may cause huge load problems.)
Put here all the things you’d love to see in the new expansion, from small changes to large additions.
Here’s mine:
1. MOAR SKILLZ – Seriously. They’re never enough. Forgo any new classes and bring on more skills for each class. Another thing that might be just as good would be to allow people to now choose which skills to use with their weapon instead of having them be a locked set.
2. More Elite Specializations – We only have one of them now for each class. Gotta have more of them than that!
3. “Inspect Player” option – Would show current skills, build, and armor/weapons. May be disabled in PvP. Also, have the option in chat that allows you to produce a link that will allow people to inspect you. 10 sec cooldown for the chat link to make sure it can’t be spammed.
4. Guild Alliances – Why were these missing? Bring ‘em back!
5. Guild Capes – These were also fun. I know they were having clipping issues with them in the past, but perhaps now they’re good to go?
6. Guild Banner Finisher – Downed players get a flag pole waving the guild banner stabbed into them. This finisher will only be given to a guild’s staff members.
7. Guild List – Would list all the guilds in GW2 with options to search through them. Guilds can now choose whether it is an Open Guild (anyone can apply to be a member, an Invite-only Guild (must be invited by a member) or a Closed Guild. (no new members can join, period)That’s all I can think of for now.
1) Being able to choose would be a balancing nightmare. As far as addtional skills, those come from the elite specs.
2) We’ll likely get one per class with the next expansion.
3) No on the inspecting others but linking builds was something that GW1 had. Chances are it would get tied into build templates if they ever add that feature to the game.
The new expansion would blow me away if.
1. Two elite specs per class.
One per every couple years just feels slow expansion. One is expected. Two would be extraordinary.
2. Completion of missing stat sets.
Several stat sets are missing pieces like the amulet or backpiece.
3. Completion of non-500 crafting.
Obvious
4. Challenging, extensive story.
The base game is completable wearung no armor and basically solo. HoT was more difficult, but totally completable without dying and with 1 friend or solo. Now that the power creep is at full swing. HoT can easily be done solo.

Yes, the Guild List was added after my reply.
And, no to Player Inspection, of course. Perhaps, though, the OP meant Build Templates. I don’t know.
Being able to choose would be a balancing nightmare.
As opposed to the current system which is more locked down than WoW. If I have to choose between somewhat balanced or locked into certain options, guess which one I’m gonna choose.
And furthermore, people played and are STILL playing Guild Wars. Why, if it’s so terribly unbalanced? The answer is two-fold. 1. People have too much fun combining skills and 2. The endless combination of skills and stats actually balances itself.
I don’t know why devs are SO afraid of a developing metagame. You can see a great example of this in the Super Smash Bros. Melee or current Project M scene. If you look at their tier history, you’ll notice lots of jumps in the tier list even though the character stats have remained totally static for years. Characters that were once thought of as useless going up the list due to someone finding a great use for the character.
Developers these days seem to feel a need to balance every single little thing that stands out and some just never ever leave it alone. I actually love ANet to pieces, but this it’s-too-unbalanced argument against having more skills and more options is SUPER tiresome. People want to be creative and have fun but too many others are afraid of an issue that doesn’t actually exist!
And I’m NOT saying that balancing things isn’t needed. But there easily comes a point where you’re not balancing anymore but nitpicking.
TL;DR – Give it to us anyway. Stop hamstringing the potential thousands of tactical options we could have.

I hope you mean things you’d like to see in the third expansion. Whatever is going into the second one was planned long ago. At this point, the only decisions ANet can make is whether to postpone features/content for LS4 (for gameplay or testing reasons) or for a future expansion (because they aren’t far enough long for Ex#2).
It’s good to hope/wish for things; I just don’t won’t anyone reading the thread to be disappointed that “ANet isn’t listening” — they are; it just takes a lot longer to make things happen than most of us think.

Expansion 2… Expansion 3… Whenever. This thread is just a loose kind of wishlist for what you’d like to see next. I perhaps shouldn’t have even put expansion in the thread title.
I often see threads/posts asking for better balance. Rarely see any asking for balance to be thrown out the window, so that will probably not be added in any up-coming expansions/releases.
It would seem to be a nightmare for both Devs and players.

Ah, ok. Thanks for the clarification. There are some existing wishlist threads out there, so I mistakenly thought you were referring to this next expac.
Fix the mapping. Multi-level mapping is horrible since HoT redefined “multi-level”. We need a better mini-map. If it’s not changed and the maps are HoT-like, I won’t buy the expansion.
Make new zones more solo-able. The LS S3 zones are greatly improved in this area. So, all they really need to do is resist the urge to make things harder. But, I’m not holding my breath; they seem to listen much more to the tiny minority of players who want extreme content.
Add MANY more mastery points. LS S3 is better, but still not enough.
Give us more graduated ways to get hero points. I like the idea HoT had where hero points come in piles of 10. But, they’re not evenly laid out. Some absolutely require a group, while others are easy to solo. So, yeah, have some 10-pointers, but also maybe some 3 and 5-point HPs.
De-link experience from mastery tracks. It’s absurd that you can’t get XP until you’ve topped-off all of the masteries.
1. Options to disable/enable what is shown in the top right corner.
Most of the time (in PvE) i dont wanna see info about dailies, personal/living story, dynamic events and heart quests.
2. Tengu as a new race.
3. Crystal Desert
4. A new Elite spec and a new weapon for every class. But this time use of the new weapon is not tied to the Elite spec.
I know with HoT it was a way for Anet to force players using the new weapon AND the new Elite spec. For me it did the opposite, i couldnt be bothered by either this way.
5. Remove ‘Not So Secret’ diving goggles from the the Dive Mastery.
Give that one a seperate award/achievement.
Sorry for those who did get it the hard way.

From a practical point of view: the total demolition of buff monopolies. Every group-relevant buff should be available to at least two different classes.
There is no loyalty without betrayal. -Ann Smiley
New Guild Missions
1. Ability to use interface addons. Customisation is always a good thing. WoW did it, and now the players are fixing all the awefull design decisions of the developers for free. Everyone is happy.
2. Playable Tengu. Just hand them over, or I’ll never shut up.
3. Casual raid story-mods. Cause, you know, it is stupid to spend a bunch of resorses on a content 99% of players can’t experience. But that content is already here, so give a chance to a “filthy casual” to see it.
4. Fix the mess the water combat is.
5. Far Shiverpeaks. That giant-tree forest in Bitterfrost looked very promising but had no gameplay or content. The whole Far Shiverpeaks have a great potential for an expack location, with a bunch of different bioms (giant forest, deep inland sea with icebergs, high mountains, lush oasis around places of geo-thermal activity). Unfortunately, that is almost impossible, cause it looks like Anet are going to put on a bus/kill Jormag in LS3 Ep6.

I want to be able to set up my own store.
I’d have a dye shop simply called “DYE” in the middle of Lions Arch, so that every morning I could open the doors, toss my cape back (expansion feature, of course), raise my arms and exclaim “welcome… to DYE!”.
Ritualist and new pets like a peakitten spider (they actually exist!) and some new sylvari armour designs please?
I often see threads/posts asking for better balance. Rarely see any asking for balance to be thrown out the window.
Ben CroshawYou know how it is. Cows go moo, dogs go woof, and MMO players go the PvP is unbalanced.
^
Having said that though, no, I’m not asking for balance to be completely thrown out the window. Don’t be ridiculous. And even further, how many thousands of threads have we gotten of players wanting to see more skills in GW2? I’m not exactly beside myself here.
Condi/tank meta nerfs in wvw.
Staff zerker Ele viable in wvw again.
Those are basically my two only interests in gw2…
Look at how effective someone is in a full Dire set.
Nice balance.
Give necro a support´ish elite,
that´s all what I want.
I would like to see an expansion that builds on and extends the core ideas of the guild wars franchise. In other words, something not at all like HoT.
1) New class, because GW1.
2) New skills which are not elite spec specific, reasoning to completely kill the current stale meta-game forcing a complete redesign by the players. Also, because GW1.
3) New “dungeons” in new maps with new prestigious skins, I need more dailies here, and skins please!
4) Much needed new sPvP maps based around expansion maps, with a new team death-match que. Also because GW1.
5) Much needed abundance of new skins that actually look the business and scary like, with some prestigious, but achievable even for the casual player.
6) Mastery which allows you to remove upgrade components from armour.
Things I’m unsure about;
1) Unlocking weapons from elite specs, could provide more variation in the meta-game.
2) New race. Reasoning being we already have a terrible variety of armour and weapon skins and the half decent ones we have don’t blow my shorts off and are so far few and between, I would rather see more skins and the points I mentioned above implemented than Anet have to rework existing and new skins around a new race. Although it would be kitten awesome and should be achievable.
Things I particularly support from the OP’s post;
1) Inspect player option, yes please!
2) Guild capes, yes please! Also some different shapes like full cloak, half cloak, waist cloak e.t.c. would be really cool, check out the ones from the game destiny on google to see the shape design I mean.
To conclude, I know a lot of people think so much is un-achievable from the xpac’s such as a new class, new skills e.t.c. but I urge you to look back at what GW1’s xpac’s brought and to consider the increased revenue Anet are making from GW2 in comparison.
GW2 is the best MMO out there right now, forget its problems, visually and mechanically it is the most beautiful game out there and for that reason has the most potential. All of the points we make are easily achievable and would really throw the spanner in the works that I truly believe this game needs to be able to revive itself.

A new class though, I can’t say I agree with at this point in time. I think we need to focus on the classes we have now (which are a lot, let’s be honest) instead of just adding more. Also consider that for each new class we add, it’ll be more work for ANet when we finally d get around to adding more to the classes. Now instead of ten classes to create skills for for example, we now have one or three more on top of that. And not just skills. Animations… Armor… It all has to be recreated for any new classes we add.
But yeah. If there’s anyone that can compete with WoW, it’s GW2. This game is starting to near MMORPG perfection. It’s not really there yet, but it’s close. It’s so close. It just needs that extra oomph. Mostly though, it needs more gameplay variety in the classes, which can be achieved very easily by more skills in general.

While I do agree with you somewhat I must remind you that even GW1 had 10 classes. It should be easily achievable now especially with the staff/revenue in general and from the gemstore and from the revenue that can be created from the gemstore/gold prices e.t.c.
To be quite frank if it’s really not possible I’d say Anet is wasting some serious time and dosh somewhere, because we haven’t had any real balance patches or content other than the living story which in my opinion is underwhelming and frankly a waste of time considering it is not really the type of repeatable content that would benefit the game.
However say it’s really not possible to create a new class this expac, which I still say pffft. I would be seriously disappointed to see new elite specs but no new skills which are not elite specific, we would be left with the same stale meta-game and a new band-aid to cover it.
Currently the game isn’t as horrifically rage quit level unbalanced as some of the community are making it out to be, for a starters its an MMO for kittens sake, this isn’t CoD, you can’t balance an MMO like this, especially with such unique and intricate mechanics as GW2.
Not to mention that sPvP seems to be more un-balanced than it actually is by some of the community because it’s focused the intricacies and uniqueness around 3 nodes, which creates another unique mechanic which is mistaken by that community to be an un-balanced game.
1) Since a new set of maps outside of the Maguuma Jungle and Central Tyria area is basically confirmed, I want to see Mastery Points in these new maps, for the new region-specific Mastery tracks, not be tied to annoying mini-games. Mastery point insights are expected, since they are in the LS3 maps, but we won’t get the use of Strongboxes this time. Tying them to simple events like on Dragon’s Stand would be the best way to give out enough to unlock all the Mastery tracks for the new region.
2) Maybe throw in some more Central Tyria mastery tracks, and add new red mastery points that aren’t stuck to Fractals or long-term skin unlocks.
3) As someone already said, more solo-able content is always great.
4) I’d like to see new weapons introduced but that doesn’t seem likely at this point since it hasn’t happened already as a test-run.
5) Forgoing a new class to make it more worthwhile having 9 characters to complete all the various “do x with all classes” achievements.
my wish: more cultural armor….i mean: we discoverd a new map, with new plants, animals, enemies, materials, ore….and not one of the races was able to make at least 1 cultural armor set from all those cool new materials? (and i mean they could make it like cook´s outfit or wedding attire outfit so that the cultural armor changes his look depending on wich race it wears….)….so my biggest hope is cultural armor for the next expansion….
My second hope: more than 1 new elite spec….i mean: The Dreamer and Quip are screaming: Mesmer come and wear me……(Quip in main hand…my dream)….
my third hope: beeing stronger, when i finally get my ascended gear full….maybe the new maps are easy for old players, but a big challange for new players without ascended gear…(and getting the first piece is a pain…..i got my first pice last month….last week the second piece)….and i play since 3 years (with a big break in season 2)…..and i was with my mesmer like:
“You can easily do HoT without dying….” errrm yeah…when you mean it…but my lvl 80 Mesmer 2 ascended Rings, 1 ascended armor pice, rest exotic….it was like oh what is this? dead…oh where can i go the… dead, oh a Hero Point let´s do this fas…dead…i dont know how often i was dying…but it was (and still is) very challenging to do HoT (first Map solo)…now i found a weapon set where i can do the enemie good enough to not be perma – dead…BUT: if i dont pay every second attention i am…yes…dead….so…i can not use GS anymore…instead i use scepter / Shield…so i can survive….maybe this will change with fully ascened but: remember that the new players want a challange but not a perma-death…when the new expansion hit the “old maps” will be not full of players and for some events you need players….my opinion: they can make the raids / dungeons as hard as they want…but for pve it is good like it is ( i mean without something to clear conditions fast you are lost on the new maps….that was the first lesson i learned on the first new map…sooo much conditions…)….
My biggest surprise on the new map ….the little cute raptor…there i was like oh wow, they are cute, let´s take a closer look…..(dead)…and i was thinking:
“still cute….but next time i dont run in this big horde….reminds me of the little raptors from jurrassic park 2…cute, but you better run”

Keep in mind though how much it takes just to MAINTAIN this game. ANet did a talk at GDC on their methods and just exactly what they do on a daily basis. And just to summarize it, it’s MASSIVE. Keep in mind too that ANet’s systems are designed first and foremost to be efficient without sacrificing quality or at least too much. Since they do not have a sub fee to fall back on, everything must be designed to work good and fast with minimum resource usage. How they do this is quite genius and they should probably get an award for it, but there you go. I can tell just their server tech alone is a guarded secret for a reason.
So when you factor all the work it takes just to keep this game stable and running, I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised that when it comes to developing new content and deciding what they want to support, they need to be smart about it. And make no mistake. Each new piece of content is something new to fix. To maintain. To support. They can’t just toss a wheelbarrow full of money at anything that needs developing and fixing like ActiBlizzard can. No, when it comes to an MMO like GW2, feature creep is a real and dangerous thing.
Now, having said that, I don’t work for ANet of course. I don’t know what’s really going on behind the scenes. How much ANet makes financially in pure profits. (I do hope it is a lot. I don’t want to see this game die to WoW as well. Pls no.) And it could be that I’m overblowing ANet’s problems and load. But yeah. This is why I say no new classes yet.
(edited by Arnox.5128)
1. Mercenaries!!! Allow alts to be able to be registered as a mercenary (a la GW1). As an economy boosting measure, let the gear from the alt translate to the stats of the mercenary. Would love to see my whole party filled with my alts. Unlike GW1 where a max number of alts could be registered as a merc (I think it was eight), GW2 should have no such limit. You can register all 20 of your alts as a potential merc and pick and choose your party. ANet could make a nice profit by charging a gem cost for each merc registered.
2. Additional races, in order of personal preference: Quaggan, Tengu, Kodan
3. Option to select from several skills to fill each of the weapons skills from 1-5. For example, skill 1 will have 2-3 unique skills available to choose from. Skill 2 will have 2-3 unique skills available for it. The skills will, of course, revolve around the relevant weapon you are wielding. This will allow even greater diversity of play and make lesser used weapon sets more attractive.
4. Legendary Minis. These minis will actually be able to contribute to combat, albeit their damage will be very low (single to double digit max). Introduce a game mode where you can train your minis and customize their limited attributes. No way can they ever be comparable to a Ranger pet, but you can bet a lot of players will love having a mini that can actually be a contributing partner in their adventuring!
5. If we’re going back to Elona, bring back Margonites!!! Take your inspiration from the Hellraiser movies for the character models.
6. If we’re going back to Elona and getting Margonites, make a Realm of Torment Guild Hall. Who wouldn’t love a guild hall that looks like a chessboard floating in the blackness of space!?
7. Mini-Entourage. Make a quest where you can combine several minis into your own personal little entourage that follows you around. For example, I can have Chauncy von Snuffles III, Lady Wisteria Whiskington, Mini Zuzu, and Orange Tabby following me around all at the same time.
I’ve been waiting for someone else to start this discussion for ages – cause I could hardly post the following list and the create the subject itself at the same time. Hopefully this mostly comes across as system tweaks instead of requests for custom loot. Either way, fetch a plate of tl:dr and prepare to get munching.
Black lion store:
- Add a filter checkbox to hide all unlockable items which have already been unlocked – dyes, recipes, skins, ect.
-Give all black lion dyes an exotic border (orange) instead of a rare one (yellow)
- Give all black lion traders a small aura which makes the special action skill appear (default x button) and allows people to pick up their orders without opening the black lion window.
- If you open the black lion store from the menu and walk into the previously mentioned radius of the black lion trader, allow the player to pick up their purchases without having to re-open the store from the black lion merchant instead of using the open menu based store
Normal merchants:
- Add a dividing line at the bottom of all normal merchant listings and place recipes and collectables which have already been unlocked beneath that dividing line in the sales list
Chat box:
- You will never use party chat while in a team, team chat while in a party and you’ll probably never use party chat while in a squad. Either combine party, team and squad chat options or have your chat channel switch automatically when you moved into the relevant game play type.
Mini-map:
- Allow players to request to join commanders from the mini-map in the same way they can request to join from the main map.
Waypoints:
- Given the abundance of multi-tier maps, instead of phasing out waypoints which are at different levels, either give them a blue, green or brown border decoration to denote if they in the sky, on the ground or underground.
World Map:
- Add the option to hide the zone and world completion tabs – they often cover the Maguuma fall maps and waypoints – which can be irksome.
- Add a button next to each zone name (and right click option) on the world map to open the LFG tab of that zone (The LFG feature is getting pretty cluttered without this).
LFG:
- Add a “Teleport-then-Join” button under the “Join” option in open world LFG tabs which will cause users to join a commander squad only if they make it into the map (ie, its not full) and will not lock them out from trying to join groups if they are not successfully moved to the maps they try to enter.
- Allow players to sort the order of the game type tabs to suit their preferences.
Squads:
- In the name of all things holy, put a fancy border around the squad member who is hosting it.
- Give the commander the ability to initial a waypoint-as-group channel skill (by right clicking on a waypoint while commanding a squad and selecting waypoint-as-group. The channel would last 15 seconds and would give squad members the option to teleport with the commander (at the usual cost) to the selected waypoint. If the squad wouldn’t fit on the target map, start a new map.
Inventory:
- When searching for the term “black” or “black lion” bring up all black lion goods in the inventory.
- When searching for the term “food” or “util” bring up all the foods and utilities in the inventory.
- When encumbered, unable to pick up loot and pressing “deposit all collectables”, deposit the collectables you haven’t been able to pick up yet as well.
WvW:
- When hovering over the minimised colour plates at the top of the screen, bring up a blurb stating which world that colour belongs to.
-On the map, put a picture of a lock around uncappable points instead of requiring people to hover over the points for that info.
Crafting:
- Add a new workbench which only allows for the refinement of materials but allows for the refinement of all materials which the player can refine.
- Separate out all legendary crafting and components into a single separate type of workbench (which possibly requires 5 fragments, blood dusts and dragonite ore for every use of said station).
- Move all Grandmaster Hobb’s non-legendary journal items to a new apprentice which will take his current spot – and will also provide scout directions to Grandmaster Hobbs at the Pheonix Roost.
- Move Grandmaster Hobbs to just shy of the Pheonix Roost’s summit, staring out over the ocean -cause legendary journey -.-
Mystic Forge:
- Add a recipe book which records all the mystic forge recipes you’ve discovered
- Add tabs to insert items from your bank or collections into the mystic forge
Home instance:
- Add the option to hand in gobbler items for nodes-which-act-as-gobbler-items which share the same daily cap.
Guild Hall:
- Allow the guild to move the guild resource nodes
- Add a new unlock track to allow the placement of a single copy of each of the attainable home instance resource nodes in the guild (which will only be visible and accessible if the player’s corresponding home instance node has been unlocked and will count towards the same daily use as the home instance nodes)
- Add an unlock for a stunted black lion delivery agent inside the scribing hub which will only allow the players to pick items with the “used in scribing” tag.
- Add bed decorations => Which are smaller than the colossal bed things currently in game -.-
Black Lion:
- Add a single player wind tunnel instance inside the Black Lion HQ which lets players equip time-limited bundle versions of the current glider skins on offers for visual testing.
- Add a black-lion-fed-salvage-o-matic which consumes full stacks of BL salvage kits or other BL consumables for charges (25 charges from a full BL salvage kit pls), can store any number of charges and can use up those charges to salvage gear. To justify a high gem price, either allow 10-15 charges to be consumed to salvage ascended items or give the BL-fed-salvage-o-matic a 50-100% chance to salvage higher tier crafting materials.
(edited by Gerrand.3085)
Breakbars:
- Breakbars are flat out awesome. In the long term consider enhancing them with custom animations to allow designers to relate complex enemy interactions with the visuals – such as having the break bar cracked or shattered once broken until the boss stops taking extra damage (at which point it reforms to show extra damage is no longer being taken), having a red area at either end of the break bar to tell people bad stuff will happen if the boss’s stun bar isn’t kept about midway across the break , ect. The more flexable the animation set, the more designers will be able to easily relate.
GW2 Website:
- Add a way for people to jump to comments made by staff in threads instead of having to find the first instance of a staff post before they can be hopped between.
- Several WvW ts groups I’ve been on have requested I send them my GW2 API to prove I was from that server. Please add a description on the API request redirect login page stating what you are currently logging into the GW2 website for. I’m a programmer and at the time I couldn’t tell if signing in my details on that page would either give the safe API information the WvW people stated the link would provide or if I was dangerously compromising my account by signing into that blank Anet login page – until after I signed in and it all turned out to be fine -.-
Misc:
- Resonating shards. Make them rare again please, they are currently worse than sellable trash.
- Until they worked into a better system, add another option to the bottom of each recipe book’s recipe list which lets you extract a generic sellable trophy from the book instead (with rarer recipe books giving larger quantities of the generic trophy). Perhaps only give this option if every recipe in the book has already been unlocked.
- With future living world maps, consider adding in a single remastered cultural armor as a reward for each of those maps. The cultural armors are some of the most unique pieces in game but the lack of detail, tech and texture on several of them really shows (they are the oldest of the old). If a single weight of a single class was redone with each episode (given some new shaders like higher tier PvP or WvW stuff, perhaps the carapace armor enhancement or the foefire shoulders enhancement) I’d assume all around praise for far less effort then creating a new armor set.
- At the end of the season, please give a mystic forge chain to combine all the 25-25 sentient and anomaly gobblers into a single store gobbler (like the ley-line matter converter) and if you feeling generous, extend that into some variation of an ascended/legendary construction process to unlock invisible shoulders which feature the 6 anomolies flying around and trailing after you (as pure fx) and when combat starts, all 6 anomalies ram into you, disappearing and giving you a slight aura of the leyline- distort effect until you exit your combat stance.
Axe Rifles – Skills 1-3 Melee; 4-5 Ranged. – if i could have those id be soo happy
Don’t lock the new weapons to the elite traits. It’s stupid to continue this.
The abolition of condi meta with the subsequent coming back of power builds.
More elite skills. There are a few types missing on some classes.
Engineer has no elite skill that’s part of explosions in elites.
Ranger has no trap elite skill.
So I’d like to see these slots filled so they can take advantage of certain synergetic traits in the trait lines.
I’d also like to see certain useless traits replaced or updates so they become useful particularly in the engineer tree like Soothing Detonation or Shrapnel. The first one happens anyway when we use turrets and add a blast finisher the second one should happen always because that’s the nature of mines.
Another example is the you attack faster with said weapon and cooldowns are slower which I feel should be placed in the main category by choosing that traitline. Such as bombs and grenades should have faster cooldown faster speed in the explosives line just by choosing the explosives line.
Energy Amplifier should include when we have regeneration from food or from wearing kits when Backpack Regenerator is triggered. Essentially Traits need more synergy of their own just like there is synergy when using combo fields traits should synergize amongst themselves.
I’d like to finally see updates to the home instance including decorations, the ability to make furniture, the ability to use certain things in the home instance such as bank and crafting, the ability to have npcs that actually do something useful like a merchant for example.
I’d like the balance team to take some serious time and examine certain classes that get very little attention such as the engineer and the thief so that synergy amongst traits and fixing certain metas is restored. You all did a great job by adding certain elements to certain classes to restore the meta for healers in the game which I deeply appreciate. I’d love to see you do that with bunker mine explosives on the engineer as well as Assassination for the thief. Engineer bunker explosives with mines has been lackluster and broken for some time now, assassination thief died with the addition of the Revenant Shiro setup in the HoT expansion.
Change all traps to circles seriously why are some traps rectangles? That makes it harder to hit enemies.
Hero challenges that don’t require groups.
That’s about it from me.
- Personal story sidequests. Still so many loose ends from the early personal story that could be explored further. Weekly missions for the order you joined would be a good start too.
- Weapon skill choices. It’d be nice if you could swap between similar attacks that cater to different builds.
- Additional WvW game modes that cater specifically to guilds and small organised groups.
- Universal reduction in power damage, condition damage and CC in WvW. The skill has disappeared from the mode because too many abilities can not be countered.
- Minidungeons to make a return.
- Front footprints for charr. It seems a bit ephemeral but there’s a lot of sand in Elona and it’s probably going to drive me mad seeing missing footprints for two years.

More (and smaller) guild halls. Similar to the GW1 halls. Some of them seem pretty amazing.
A guild hall “zoo” or menagerie. Some way to allow animals, pets, or even mini’s to roam around the guild hall.
Anything to make the guild halls seem more “alive”. Roaming people, etc. The guy at the tavern was always talking about making stew or something so people would travel in to taste it. Where are those people?
I’ve got a guild hall thing going on right now in case you couldn’t tell… So much opportunity with them.
A suite of new and revamped features, intended to fulfill the original design intents of the games combat system.
- Get rid of dodge. Yes, you read that correctly, trust me, keep reading, I am not suggesting the removal of active defense.
- Add in a new stat called Agility
- Add in a new “defense” skill slot to replace dodge, with three selections per class and one additional per specialization, basically just like the healing and elite skill slots. Like dodge, this skill would have no cooldown. Your defense skill slot would scale with either toughness or agility, the general idea being that damage mitigation skills (blocks, parries, shields) would scale from toughness, while damage avoidance skills (dodges, evasion) would scale from agility.
- The endurance bar still exists but functions differently, when you use your defensive skill, any damage absorbed will take points from your endurance bar. The amount taken is reduced by your stat investment into whichever stat your defensive skill scales from. If you use the last of your endurance bar, the remaining damage does not spill over, everything is still blocked for the duration of the skill, but your defense slot skill will go on a significant cooldown while your endurance regenerates. The endurance bar would also begin to regenerate passively after eight seconds of not using the defense slot skill.
- Defensive skills found in your utilties or weapons would also now scale from either agility or toughness, and would take endurance points by absorbing damage, however they would, on average, scale significantly higher than the slotted skill to offset that they have a cooldown for their use.
The initial idea behind the game was that everyone be a self sustaining trinity to a small degree, but that’s never been true for the tank third of that trinity, everyone has a defense skill, but speccing into any defense stats is worthless in nearly all content as it has no effect on that global defense skill, dodge, and all other defense skills are worthless compared to it. Even raids have slowly moved towards soft tanks instead of true tanks in nearly all encounters.
Dodge trivializes the majority of the games stats, homogenizes every encounter to the same skill check, and provides so little advanced play that high tier “combat” is just the same old boss fights with mini-games, timers, and higher HP pools tacked on. There is very little strategy to team comp, no advanced combat tactics, and very shallow depth of play. Dodge cannot be this untouchable “counterspell” catch-all solution anymore, it not only has no build or play variance itself, but nullifies very many play options from the build system that would otherwise be viable and compelling choices.

Hm… This is actually a pretty interesting way of doing things. More variety in the combat is great so I think this could really work.
HOWEVER, this may require a complete rewrite of the AI, combat, and netcode.

Maps that have replayability values, HoT maps are a good start, but people only return to do the metas. LS maps have zero replay value, and ppl only go there to farm nodes or get achievements, most players dont care about achievements though.
There needs to be something else to motivate players to replay the map. They’ll have to work it out what, cuz i’m not the designer of the game, just giving a suggestion.
Add skins options for the Flamethrower.

Not as much as you’d think.
Believe it or not, there is not a single AI string that reacts to dodge in the entire game, it is as removed from the AI system as it is from the stat system, and while there are attacks that ignore blocks and non-dodge evasion, nothing ignores dodge, it is a true blue catch all skill, the game pretty much treats it like it isn’t even there.
As for combat, your average mob would be relatively the same, it would mainly affect bosses and mobs from large group meta events who deal a lot more damage to offset how may players they face, because those attacks would frequently use up the entire endurance bar with one skill. But even that wouldn’t be too extreme, since there is no damage spillover, it would mostly function the same as now, just with a slightly smaller uptime and a harsher punishment for poor placement and poor use of your defense skills, since as a squishy in a meta event your first priority should be staying away from the mobs in the first place.
Plus I failed to say so, but the idea behind there being a difference between toughness and agility, is that agility skills would have higher baseline but scale less, the principle being that dodge and evasion skills would be more for backline characters who can drop out of combat and have more space to move, while block and parry and shield skills would scale much more from toughness, and be more for frontliners who want to stay in combat and don’t have as much room avoid attacks by strafing and placement. Of course there would be exceptions like the thief class.
Nonetheless, you’re probably right and the games existing encounters would require some form of a repass.

Add skins options for the Flamethrower.
Like this?
they could keep the skills balanced but add some anyway, one way would be on weapons.
currently if anyone wants to make a frost mage they are pretty much stuck with ether support or healing spells, the attack spells that already exists are quite lame and way to weak to even consider.
However, if you could choose alternative skills (like 2 per skill slot) you could change the healer role in to a damage dealer or mix around to suit your style.
same thing with engineer rifles, you could use it as a tool gun like it is now or change it in a long range rifle.
My wishlist is simple.
I am a solo player. When HoT came out, even though I had prebought the game, there was nothing in it for me except the REV.
I had to wait until they reduced the difficulty before I was able to not only play in the jungle, but enjoy the jungle.
My sole wish is this time they take all their players abilities under consideration when assigning a starting difficulty level.
HoT was for the Elite when it came out. This expansion, I would like to play it when it releases, and not have to wait for months as I did last time.
Lisa-Feeling wistful
One more playable race or at least a new profession.
