Does anyone else feel like the game is turning into a chore now?

i sign in everyday, do teq, do wurm, do a frac49, do the biweekly achievos in 20 minutes and then immediately put down after receiving absolutely no reward.

Through all this, i’m playing LoL or something in background and it honestly feels like a job now.

LOL. When a game starts to feel like a job, then it is time to find another game that delivers more entertainment. I am not even close to that point with GW2, but have been there with lots of other mmorpgs. Believe me, it is best to just move on.

That may be repetitive, but it’s not really grind, is it? You only have to hop in to play briefly as opposed to slogging through a dungeon for half the day, every day.

I used to love this game, but now I find myself logging in less and less, mainly the search for a precursor (which is all I’m missing for my Bolt) has left me down, and tired. Dungeons became a mechanic chore after a while, blast here, dps here, dodge here, pull here, stack here. Fractals I quit doing them since the time investment vs the rewards are abysmal and doing a 38 or 49 for 2 blues and a green is hardly motivating. WvW is fun for the people, but I eventually got tired of running the same 2 maps (since all BLs are replicas of each other) over and over and over and over and over again… EotM is just KTrain 24/7, albeit the map would be awesome for some more classical WvW. PvP, well it just doesn’t cater to my taste to have a build on a stat diet, a small map, and some people that just seem either coked out, or 12 yo on redbull
(not all of them, but the ones that are are VERY vocal). LS has had its ups and downs, and while I try to log in to play it, well lest just say that 3 hours of content won’t keep me hooked. Add to this things like skins behind BLC Tickets which i despise… I’m alright with a cosmetic paywall….. but an RNG Cosmetic Paywall is just awful.

I was not a fan of the expansion proposal….but at this point i really feel that GW2 needs an expansion that includes a BULK of new zones, weapon and armor skins, quests, lore, WvW maps, 1 or 2 races…. that would really bring back the OOMPH to the game.

tl:dr: GW2 used to take most of my freetime….now I debate between some playtime and Friends Reruns.

I am not bored with the game as such. But I want to level up my crafts while levelling my toons. I am a patient farmer.(Not Botter) I am very disappointed that actually farming for my own materials is prevented because I have the patience to farm my own mats. With mostly low level toons it is not like I can just buy everything I want or need & am not overly interested in farming for money. So for this game to actually remain good for me I need the anti botting stuff removed so I can farm & be rewarded for it properly. And as long as I am actually farming, not botting, why should I not be properly rewarded for it. It is not up to me to determine how to prove a botter but I at least reply once I am aware someone is talking to me & I would expect that if a GM is talking and chat is turned off, they must have a way to make you see they actually spoke to you. I love playing Dress up Barbie & want to farm my own mats, dyes and so on, but if the rewards are going to decrease after a short time or I get the anti bott message that something is turned off, I may be wasting my time here despite the nice things about the game and the nice people I often meat along the way.
If farming is one of my things a game that is against that makes it a game to maybe reconsider. (Sadly)

Just go play something else, and come back every two weeks to do your living story.
Win Win heh?

It sounds like you guys are experiencing burnout. That’s normal for any game, especially MMOs. Just put GW2 down and go play/do something else for a while. As long as you remember to log in every 2 weeks for the LS unlock, you’re not really missing out on anything.

While I still like this game; at times it can feel like a grind, more so when trying to up gold levels as I don’t flip stuff on the tp or run dungeons every day.

Been playing MMO’s for several years now and when the game turns into a job there are only a couple options open to you.

You can take a break and focus on other games for a few months (which is why I love GW2’s business model! just log in to update your LS).

Or reinvent your GW2 interests. Meaning make the game more about the social experience. Don’t look at it as “I have to have that next shiny and will do whatever it takes to get it!” But more about making friends, helping others and enjoying the smaller parts of the game. So maximize what makes an MMO great: the social experiences.

Only worry about gold if there’s something you want. In which case, never grind for that goal.

So you want to work up 100g to get one of the new pact weapons. Ok, there’s ways to do that without grind.

1. Always do your daily stuffs. Use the laurel on heavy crafting bags and sell the mats for a gold.

2. Have a guild, run their guild missions. If you do puzzle+rush+bounty that’ll get you six commendations. Use those on gear boxes. Sell all dat.

3. Run a dungeon or two each day. Don’t join zerk only groups, though. They rarely communicate. Instead, make your own listing helping new players learn the path. With this, you’ll communicate with your party and joke around. Have fun with it. Just because you’ve run CoF p1 five hundred thousand time doesn’t mean it’s not still fun to bring a new group in and amaze them with how well you can get past those flaming boulders. The same situation of amazement can be achieved by melee soloing the troll in HotW.

4. Never ever ever do something just because it will get you a gold. NEVER. Don’t like Edge of the Mists? DON’T DO EDGE OF THE MISTS.

5. Go out and explore! You can gather mats while you do and that doesn’t take long for you to gain a few gold. Use jumping puzzles to have fun and grab achievement points.

GW2 is pretty much grind/farm game for endgame content.
Since it was aimed to be extremely casual friendly, it also makes the game very easy for farm and grinding….

Well, it also depends on personal opinions.
Content has extremely poor replay value for example.

I’m a casual PvE adventurer, I enjoy combat, adventure and helping, but not farming.
I rarely do PvP or Hard PvE, unless it’s organized.

I do not play this game just to build up my gold, although the gold grind is for a specific reason. Would not be into my third year of play if it had been all about the gold. Still do events, play world vs world, temple runs, world bosses, level alts.
Just think it has become more difficult to build up gold with some of the changes to loot tables etc.
