seems fun, I’ll stop by
I´m from another server but i´m very interested to take part in that rush to Balthazhar Temple, it´s a great idea to do that weekly events
It´s possible to go with you w/o the server transfer?
It will be soon – guesting should be implemented in the tomorrow’s update.
Folks, remember that tonight:
- at 7pm GMT we organise the daily mining run on Gunnar’s Hold; check www.ghnodes.com for all details;
- after the mining run, around 7.45pm GMT, we liberate the Balthazar’s Temple – guest over and check up on us at Rally Waypoint!;
- after the Balth Rush, around 8.30pm GMT, we organise a social event in Hoelbrak – the Costume Brawl Extravaganza! bring your costumes and tonics, but don’t fret if you don’t have one – there will be enough witches to spawn cauldrons for everyone!
The Costume Brawl event was a blast! Thanks for coming, everyone!
Here’s a small screenshot gallery of the meeting =)
It was fun
I made it for a bit at the start.
Missed Balthazar though, by the time I got there it was already open.
Next week
Ace Aviator the Amazing Asuran Adventurer is missing!
Join in and help in the search!
http://www.gunnars-hold.eu/threads/845-Notice-Ace-Aviator-Missing-
Wow, a server actually got its own forums and community “management” by the players themselves.
I’m impressed!!
Might pay a visit to you guys.
Hey folks.
Starting next week, we will liberate the Temple of Grenth in case the Balth one is already uncontested by the time we’re ready.
We also have a scheduled open PvE event for 28.02 – killing the Displaced Ogre and running through the three mini-dungeons in Shiverpeaks. Want more details? → http://www.gunnars-hold.eu/threads/965-28-02-13-8pm-GMT-Displaced-Ogre-and-Shiverpeak-mini-dungeons
We’d like to invite all WvW players of Far Shiverpeaks and Drakkar Lake, our current’s matchup opponents, for a social get-together in Hoelbrak, Gunnar’s Hold, this Friday at 8pm GMT. Fun and contests (with prizes!) ensured. To quote the event’s organiser, Lippsy:
We will be holding a end of match celebration this friday at 8pm GMT+0 in Hoelbrak on Gunnar’s Hold. We hope you all will make use of the guesting systems to join us there.
Why Hoelbrak you ask? The answer is simple. KEG BRAWLING.
We will start of with some boxes of fun and then try some keg brawling at 9pm if you are all game ^.^
Since we will be in PVE we can also talk and joke together which we were unable to do last Friday. We will also have no nasty party crashers ^.^Same prizes as last week are up fro grabs (hopefully people will enter this time :P)
There will be prizes for the following:
3 ectos for the best screenshot of you as a statue (medusa effect you get from the mystery box)
3 ectos for the best screenshot of people line dancing
3 ectos for the best costume brawl screenshot
3 ectos for the best keg brawl photo
Also, a small reminder about tonight’s Balthazar & Grenth temples liberation. Be sure to hop in at 8pm today if you nee obsidian shards!
I currently play on SBI, is there any american server with the same feeling of Gunnars? I am leader of small PvE guild, being in an american server that is more PvE friendly would be awesome.
Awesome, i had no idea and been on that server since the beginning!
I will be joining!

Never heard of one, i can only say that Gunnar’s is trying hard and succeeding at being a true PvX server
Players of FSP and DL – remember, 8pm tonight in Hoelbrak, GH!
We’ve set up a Gunnar’s Hold-only guild database, feel invited to add your GH-based guild there!

Just letting you know that Balth and Grenth are currently open on Gunnar’s Hold, hop on o/
As per MM forums:
So the thing is that these goggles are a pain…the whole puzzle is very unforgiving, but the last bits are even more. So if you tried it and failed it, or have not even tried yet but curious, or did it but want to help others come around Wednesday at 8PM CEST (Amsterdam, Rome, Berlin)/ 7PM BST (London).
Where is it?
Not So Secret is a jumping puzzle in Gendarran Fields with two routes. The first leads to the Not So Secret achievement and the other to a pair of Diving Goggles.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Not_So_Secret
What is planned?
There are two achievements here, the jumping puzzle (get the shiny chest) and the diving goggles (hit the water). We plan to get a mesmer at the chest (fairly fast and easy, one portal is enough) and a portal chain up to the goggles (bit more painful) so people only need to get into the retreat where the ship is (it isn’t trivial but shouldn’t be too bad) and from there just portal them up.
Now the tricky bit is that the dive itself isn’t simple as you would think. There are several pipes on the way and while falling you need to avoid them, so people tend to die before they get the achievement. Hopefully with the portals you can try to hit that patch of a water as many times as you have patience for.
What do we need?
We need mesmers (Low levels are fine as long as they have portal as Gendarran is a 25-35 zone. Also better trait the jump damage/portal recharge time reduction for this event.), at least 4 to be comfortable (one for the chest, 3 for the jp though the latter could use one more too. I got my own mesmer circa halfway up the jp, can portal others up there earlier if anyone wants to leave their alt ready there before the event). We need volunteers scattered around at different levels to res the dead people.
If you volunteer as a mesmer/resurrection specialist please whisper Eili. Would be nice to have a surplus of mesmers so the ones, who are porting people originally can also get the achievement.
We already have quite a number of mesmers available =)
Right – we also have, and will keep, a mesmer at the puzzle’s chest =)
What is this about?
So the thing is that these goggles are a pain…the whole puzzle is very unforgiving, but the last bits are even more, you make a mistake, you die a horrible death flattening out like a pancake. So if you tried it and failed, or have not even tried yet but curious, or did it but want to help others come around Saturday, 24.08 at 7pm GMT+1.

Details on the wiki: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Not_So_Secret
What is planned?
There are two achievements here, the jumping puzzle (get the shiny chest) and the diving goggles, (hit the water*) needed to complete Dive Master. We will have a mesmer at your convenience at the chest for the first one and then a portal chain up to the goggles (bit more painful) so you only need to get into the retreat where the ship is (it isn’t trivial but shouldn’t be too bad, we can also guide you with that!) and from there just portal them up.
Now the tricky bit is that the dive itself isn’t as simple as you would think. There are several pipes on the way and while falling you need to avoid them, so people tend to die before they get the achievement. Hopefully with the portals you can try to hit that patch of water as many times as you have patience for!
How long does it take?
It can take 2 minutes and one try, it can take 2 hours and 50, it depends on your skill and luck. We are going to be there to help you for two hours (from 7 until 9pm GMT+1).
What do you need to do?
You need to log on/guest onto Gunnar’s Hold server on the day, zone to Gendarran Fields (Broadhollow Waypoint) and run towards the Second Aetherblade Site point of interest (see the map on the linked wiki article). Our guides should show you how to get in, then run to the tag (we will use /m to communicate so better keep your red chat ticked in!) and wait for the portal. Then get into your swimwear, dive and hope for the best:)
So if you miss any of those or need your No One Left Behind (‘Revive 1,000 players’) achievement or simply just int he mood to see masses of people jumping off a platform and die miserably while their scattered bodies lie around, this is your opportunity!
If you got questions or something isn’t clear whisper/mail Eili.2186 in the game or here for more information!
PS: Jumping puzzles are a pain when there is a mob trying to hop around so please take note: if you want to jump your way through please be so kind to choose another time as this event is about getting the achievements with the least pain possible.
*You need to hit the water while still wearing the goggles and your undies. This means you can’t bump into anything on the way down, because it results in you losing the goggles and getting your armour back on.
Greetings!
Are you tired of running the frost gorge and Queensdale champ trains over and over? Is it hard work finding anyone at 2am to help you kill Shadow Behemoth? Would you like to get boss achievements or one guaranteed daily rare to sell or salvage?
We want YOU for the Gunnar’s Hold World Tour!
The World Tour was born back in August out of the need for our fellow late night people to kill bosses and run several of the temples for loot, karma and simply to have fun! Troy Callindrael and I (Rosanthea) run the tour 6 days a week (except for Saturdays) at reset (00.00 UTC).
EVERYONE is welcome. It doesn’t matter if you are a guest, a newbie to the game or have never done a temple before-Troy and I are patient and willing to teach you how to navigate Flame Temple Tombs or help you to take down The Shatterer for good!
The fun starts Sunday-Friday at 00.00 UTC in Lion’s Arch with reminders called a half hour and 15 minutes before start. At reset, we will mark a waypoint for you to join us at and the fun begins!
Typically, we hit 12 bosses per night over 3-4 hours of Tour. Fire Elemental, Great Jungle Wurm, Shadow Behemoth, Modniir Ulgoth, Dredge Commissar, The Frozen Maw, Megadestroyer, Inquest Mark II Golem, Rhendak the Crazed in Flame Temple Tombs, Foulbear Kraal Chieftain, Fire Shaman, and Temple of Dwayna. Occasionally we will hit Melandru or Lyssa but they are rare exceptions. The Shatterer and Taidha Covington are also done IF they are up.
We do NOT hit the other temples (Balthazar, Grenth), Karka Queen, Claw or Tequatl.
if you would like to join us, please join us on Gunnar’s Hold in Lion’s Arch! We will see you there!
The Tyrian Institute (TI)
One of the few Americans on Gunnar’s Hold (EU)
Organised by Commander Troy, folks gather up and have a stroll through PvE world bosses just as the daily reset kicks in.
To get aboard, hang out in our Lion’s Arch around midnight GMT and keep an eye out on the /m chat. During the run, be sure to join the commander’s squad for extra chat and giggles over the /d chat.
If you have any questions or would like to express your love about the event, contact the commander herself in-game – Saint Troy.9258
Just a little tip for those who don’t already know… If there’s a large group of people, clicking on someone in specific to be able to join squad can be tricky. Even then, sometimes the join squad button doesn’t work.
To be sure of joining the squad, use the console command, /sqjoin <commander name>
Great Idea. I ran 3 toons up to 80 via WvW and got my exotics. Then I decided to focus on PvE, but it was dead lands out there, so I took a break from the game.
Need more PvE server talk!
Hello Folks. Some of you know me from doing Gunnars Hold Daily World Tour on daily server reset (0000UTC) Sunday-Friday. On Monday, 11/11 @ 2000UTC, World Tour is starting early with a special stop in Sparkfly Fen.
Now, this will be little different to World Tour as usual. I will be on Gunnars Hold TeamSpeak for it, and ask that people join me on that if they can and will. Reading of mapchat will be necessary. Paying attention will be necessary. Giving it your best shot will be necessary.
There are a few things that interested folks can do in advance that would be very helpful. Getting Fire Elemental Powder, Ogre Pet Whistle, and Mortar Seed Turret consumables would be extremely useful. Wearing armour that has power as main stat plus defensive stats would be helpful, as Tequatl is technically a structure (immune to critical hits and conditions), so armour with pre/crit/cond damage is less useful for the fight. Getting useful foods like Bowl of Orrian Truffle and Meat Stew or Plate of Orrian Steak Frittes would be helpful. All of this would be very useful to help make this a success, but, even if you cannot manage any of it, come along anyway.
We want you if you are experienced in fighting Tequatl, but we also want you if you have never fought Tequatl before and just want to give it a go, as long as you are willing to do your best. Experienced turret operators are desired, as are people experienced in any aspect of this battle, but don’t worry if you have never done this before, as explanations will be given.
