I recommend that you try for the great swords, regardless of the precursor you want. They are the most valuable and have the same chance to drop. Also I tend to use exotics bought from dungeons to make attempts. Instead of blowing money and resources on the weapons you are about to toss away you will only make a profit. In addition you will make money in the process of getting the tokens you will need. 2 full clears (all 3 paths) will net one great sword. I do 2 different dungeons per reset so I get to make a try every 4 days (though I am not exactly playing anymore).

The reason you want to only go for great swords is that you will make FAR more money than you need for the one you want if you get dusk or dawn. You can buy the one you want and have a ton left to spend on other mats for your legendary. You have the same chance to get one as any of the others anyways.

Edit: Forgot to add, if you make an attempt with the dungeon weapons, sell the exotic that comes out (and you will get an exotic). Don’t save it for the next attempt. The idea is that you will eventually either get one, or save enough from the dungeons/exotics that come out to buy your precursor. Will it take longer? Maybe, but you won’t lose money.

No, he means do the greatswords anyway, because the precursor greatswords are the most valuable, so you can sell it and buy the precursor you want with leftover profit.

No, do great sword. Sell it if you get dusk/dawn and buy hunter. Same chance to drop as hunter but worth more money. So you end up with hunter and a pile of gold.

These guys are right. Do the GS, when that one pops, sell it and buy the one you want. You’ll have a decent amount of cash left over which you’ll probably need for lodestones anyway.

I recommend you to wait. I wasted 30 gold like this, I feel your pain.

But they are going to change the way precursors are obtained/legendaries are made in something better, as they have said. It will not come in the next patch, but we can expect to see it in a 2/3 months max I think.

from the many many (i could use many more manys here) threads Ive seen about legendaries and precursors, 40gold is a drop in the bucket compared to most.
