The Minstrel
I think it’s supposed to be a rooster.
The red and gold colouring and the shape of the crest and feathers matches a rooster much closer than a peakitten.
Also anyone whose ever heard a peakitten wouldn’t theme a legendary harp on one. (Not that roosters sound especially pretty, but peakittens….maybe if it was a legendary fog horn…)

I think I’m going to start saying peakitten in real life.
Yarr! I be keeping me pirate runes, Matey. Yarr! You’re welcome. Yarr!
lol peakitten, just use Peafowl to get around the censor.
Heavens Rage
I spent more time than I’d like to admit trying to figure out what a peakitten was, until I realized what it actually was.
Also, I imagine it’s more rooster-y. The color theme with the blue “tail”

Red, gold body…blue tail. Pretty rooster-y if you ask me. And the crest on the head or whatever that thing is called.

When anet finally opens up more weapons for more classes I want a melee class like the warrior to get a focus.
Because I want to see someone get bard slapped, or see them chuck the harp like an angry orchestra conductor.
I always think of it as Alan A Dale from the Disney Robin Hood, since he’s a rooster AND a minstrel.
I like the minstrel only because I like to whip out my…uh…rooster in public without being judged. My friend still insists it’s a peakitten. Either way, I get to say I’m pulling out my kitten in public without it being inaccurate or inappropriate…much.
Edit: Alan A Dale could be an inspiration for that weapon. You never know.
I thought it was a reference to the Musicians of Bremen folktale:
