Last year I begun my journey into making my first legendary, being an musician in the game the obvious choice for me was to create The Minstrel.
I was disappointed… Compared to the rest of the legendaries the minstrel has no footsteps, no aura and only a rather small note effect.
As of the latest patch I was hoping the minstrel would have received some love from ANet, but no, still no effects to brag about so it’s going back into the bank. :/

What do you other Minstrel owners think of this?
Will ANet ever show the focus some love?

I’m afraid not, it has some small effects like on every 4th step or so there is a note effect on the ground and apparently those are enough… you’ll just have to wait for the Gen2 legendary focus and pray it’s better. I was a bit disappointed myself as well by the fact they gave some buffs on the other legendaries that already had good visual effects like Kudzu, but oh well.

I think Minstrel owners have to keep reminding ANet of their concerns. The problem is: not many popular builds use focus, compared to say GS, staff, etc. So any changes to existing legendaries aren’t likely to prioritize the Minstrel.

Personally, I’d prefer if ANet decided to postpone releasing (for example) one of the next six new legendaries and used the designer time saved to address the issues (big and small) with the old legendaries. However, I’m sure there are plenty of folks that would prefer to see the new ones sooner, not later.

On the other hand some people made their legendaries because they like them as they are. Changing them after the fact is pretty rude.

I was rather disappointed having heard that FSP got footfalls that there was no update to the Minstrel. It’s really annoying because now basically every other legendary feels legendary. The Minstrel just doesn’t. I made it because I like it, and I still do, but I still wish it would match up to the other off-hand weapons in terms of its visuals

To be honest I always wanted it to throw pentagram-like proyectiles on our ranged skills(Similar to Mesmer trident AA; siren´s song).

These ‘trivial’ effects are the reason I made the minstrel in the first place. Well, back when I made it, the notes where even less noticeable. (and in my opinion, even more glorious) But to each their own.

That’s agains Anet’s standing policy. They don’t fix old things – they abandon them in favour of the New Stuff they can show us. Until that also gets abandoned for something even newer.
