The Path Ahead..common one or uncommon one?

They did mention that they are also going to raise the level cap at some point, but no idea when that might happen. I think it won’t happen till people had a chance to get ascended gear together. Of course if they do raise the level cap to 90 or whatever, the gearing up will start all over again. I doubt that the ascended gear will be raised from 80 to 90. In fact I even wonder if legendary weapons will be upgraded to level 90. That’ll be a touchy subject when it comes to that.
But I wouldn’t expect it for at least another year.
You know, I dont mind it, at all. Sure it is nice to have something to do, Im almost done with my legendary, Bifrost, once Im done with it and since I cant wear Sunrise on my ele i was going to take another extended 5 months or more break, sadly neither the PvP (very unbalanced, to the point that the fun level is almost absolutely zero, once i got my 6000 AP i stopped going there for good) or the WvW appeal to me (very unrewarding, and my PC is really crappy so zergs make the game unplayable for me and thats what predominates there), if they dont give me something to work on I might as well dont even play. Yes stories are nice, if you are not stolen the spotlight (‘cough’ Trahearme ‘cough’) or people just does not go with the flow, SEVERAL time have I tried to roleplay just to be dismissed as childish, or taken jokingly or simply ignored (I want to play a ROLE PLAYING game, eff me, right?!). Right now all Im working on is dress-up with my ele and getting as many shinies as possible, since thats all there is left for me. Im fine with gear grind, as long as it doesnt involved CoF farming or Scarlet farming, there has to be better ways than making gold than flipping tp (effective and the only way I have made money, sadly) or farming like crazy.
Bring more shinies, you will keep more people like me in the game.
Legendary SoloQ
Who knows?
However, new skills and traits have been pretty much confirmed in the blog post.
Time is a river.
The door is ajar.
I think raising the level cap will pretty much only cause problems gears wise. I mean, even at 80, getting an extra level is quite easy and seriously doesn’t take that long. Let’s say they add another 5 or 10 levels, one week and you’re there, if you play a couple of hours a day. Two weeks at the very most.
If they raise the level cap and add new gears, well.. Leveling will be super easy, getting the gear will probably be much harder and might compromise the relevance of the existing 80 gear. If they do raise it without making it much, much harder to level up past 80, it’ll only be an excuse to introduce more gear… Which, quite frankly, wouldn’t please me at all.
So, as far as gears are concerned, I hope they are not in any way connected to levels past 80, at least for the first year or so after they do increase the level cap. Since they’ve said it’s part of their plan, I’m hoping they will add something else, i.e earning a new skill or trait requires you to reach level 85 or 90, and other new things perhaps, but not gear. At least not right away, it would suck so very hard.
LOL this company…
Not at all, in any way, the company that brought us GW1 or even tried to sell GW2. I’d never thought I’d say this but ANet is no longer ANet. They forgot where they came from, what they originally intended, and what they’ve promised. This company has done a complete 180 and I have very little of the respect I had for them in GW1 left. I am beyond disappointed with what they have become. I wish somebody would walk down there, slap them in the face, and staple a list to their foreheads of the things they originally aimed for and the things they are currently doing.
I hope I never see a level cap increase.
Think about it – it will be a disguised version of vertical gear progression. Unless your gear levels with you ( highly unlikely) it will just be an excuse to get us grinding more. And that wouldn’t be THAT BAD if everything wasn’t TIME GATED.
So – basically delete all the work you’ve put into gearing up for level 80 with the best possible gear. Time to start it all over again because why not.
Anyone else feel like this game is turning into a watered down WoW clone, because i do..
Innovative and new this is not..

There are times I wonder how much influence Patrick Wyatt and Jeff Strain had in GW. Now that they’re gone, is Mike O’Brien making all the decisions, or does he handle the business end and leave everything to subordinates? Are GW2 game decisions made the way Lucasfilm made Episodes I-III, with Lucas directing as well as producing? We saw how well that turned out. It seems to me that GW2 is no longer the game that was advertised.
@ Dante: I wouldn’t go that far, because many of the things I hated about WoW are not in GW2 — like GCD, static combat, node-stealing, etc. However, I would say that GW2 is moving towards trying to appeal more to players who like WoW — and not doing that great a job of it.
