We all enjoy playing our different races within Tyria but if i’m honest I avoid the Charr, Sylvari and Norn – They either feel clumpsy or I just don’t appreciate their appearance.

I’ve played with the gimmick of the Asuran but baby with an axe gets boring pretty soon, which untimately has resulted in 2 of my level 80 characters being Human.

I enjoy the Human class the most, armor, weapons all seem to best suit them over the other races which I’m happy with no complaints there.

However, I’ve finally decided it is time to create an Elementalist – what if any news do we have on new races joining us in Tyria? I’ve got time to wait but I don’t want to embark on making another human when possibly there might be something new just over the horizon!

Any imput on specific Race / Class combinations that work well would also be really appreciated.

Charr works best with heavy armor classes – warrior, guard
Norn works very well with heavy armor classes , female norns look pretty nice in light armor.
Sylvari work best with medium and heavy armor classes, their leafy skin if kinda ugly looking, especialy with certan light armors.

I have two norns for my 80s (they’re very cool on lowest height settings and not at all clumsy), and very happy with them. My 2 other upcoming characters are humans, and I only just came up with a nice looking Sylvari after countless exterior experiments. I cannot, however, force myself to play Asuras (rat ppl with invisible details), and I absolutely despise the giant doggish tailed pests that run around on all fours.

As per second post, I recommend checking http://www.gw2armorgallery.com/ for a preview of how armor look on different races. For the most arguable ones I think: Chair look best in medium armor, Sylvari – in light armor (and males have richer costumes then females), and Auras look pretty much the same in anything.

I’d also like to see a new race added to the game, preferably a new class, too. It’d buy them for gems the same instance.

No news on a new race- all tough we all want one

Personally I am in love with the Sylvari- I started out with 5 human characters but after my love affair with Sylvari -I only have 3 left and I have 5 Sylvari.

Humans now look a bit bland to me and it bothers me terribly that my humans don’t glow

Any new race would have to be cooler than the Sylvari for me to even consider playing it :P

Human was my go to race to begin with. It was something I was comfortable with, which I felt allowed me to pay more attention to the profession itself. After determining which classes I liked, then I opted to look at the other races, and determined if they felt like they ‘fit.’

I like Norn. I went with female, shortest option available. Sometime the ‘slow mo’ running is a bit… meh, but otherwise she doesn’t feel any more clumsy or awkward than my human of the same class. Although…I may regret her profession choice now, since it doesn’t ‘feel’ like it matches her as a character. Oh well, hind sight is 20/20.

Charr I’m not hugely fond of. I like the general look, and I like the running on 4 paws (it does fit), but they do feel bulky and awkward to me as a player. Additionally, a lot of the armor options for charr just don’t feel ‘right’ for them.

Asura, are cute. I enjoy this race as well, but they definitely need more facial and hair options. I find their arrogance highly amusing, but I do agree that a lot of weapons tend to lose their appeal due to being quite so small. Of course, if you did a giant weapon on an asura that wouldn’t exactly fit either. I think with a bit more tweaking to weapon size for this race, it’d ‘feel’ better overall. (Anet, could you do something about the greatsword positioning on the back too? It’s far too low, especially compared to how other races carry it. My poor short arms just can’t reach correctly)

Finally, Sylvari…. ugh. This one also needs more basic facial and hair options. There is something about this race that just doesn’t jibe with me. I still haven’t found a face/hair combo that I like, which seriously dampens my desire to play this race. Which sucks, because I’d really like to see their personal story arcs.

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

I tried playing a Sylvari. Couldn’t find a single armor set that I liked. Deleted it.

I would love a new race too, but I’m not overly confident that I would like it even if they implement one.

Sylvari can be a good choice for ranged builds because those elite seed turrets can be a lot of extra firepower, that might be a good choice for your ele if you plan to go ranged. Also for engi I find human is great because they get another option for a heal skill which has a far better f heal skill than most of the original.

That’s a couple of race specific things I like.

Since when did this business of being a hero become being a business?

I have one character of each race, but it’s only because I want to go through each of the racial stories once. I’m not an Asura fan, and I’m not a Sylvari fan. The Charr make great looking warriors. The Norn are daunting enough to pull of the heavy armor sets well. For the most part, though, I prefer the human look overall.

Having said this, the only game I’ve ever played where I wanted to play a race besides human is WoW, because orcs are awesome. Apart from that, I’ve always preferred humans.

If they ever do decide to add new races to GW2, I’ll probably skip them anyway.
