Guild Wars 2

GW2 is nearing its 6 month mark, and it`s been even longer since the first BWE. Over 1 million players have joined the game since then. It seems like it`s time for a little nostalgia for `the way things used to be.` =D

Note: This thread is not meant for commenting on TP price trends or other complaints, etc. Please refrain from including them.

I`ll start us off.

1. Remember when you got dye seeds and you had to give them to a guy in the home instance and then wait a day before you got your dye?

Remember when Subject Alpha was twice as hard and gave you 1/3 as many tokens? :P

Remember when T6 materials were 10c-80c apiece?

Remember when ~1 gold can get you ~300 gems?

Remember when Mesmers could spawn iZerkers onto keep walls? That was fun.

Remember when dungeons were filled with a bunch of silver mobs instead of the new average level ones? You kittenyourself when a big horde rounded the corner.

Remember when there were snakes crawling on the ground? Why did they take out the snakes?

Remember when the Flame Shaman in the Plains of Ashford wiped out hordes of zergers during beta?

Remember when elementalist GC damage made it worth it to trait and gear that way?

Remember when engineers were viable?

Remember when blind didn’t triple-penalize mesmers?

This thread will attract a lot of bitterness, which I can see has already happened :P

Remember when people didn’t have to Press F to accept a Mesmer’s portal? I wasn’t beta testing, but I did watch some funny videos of Portal grief lol.

ahh, I remember the flame shaman in PoA during beta. holy cow that guy was tough then.

in all honesty, isn’t it a little early for one of these? it still feels like the game has barely really arrived…

I like to call those the days of banks and character slots. Also I seem to remember it being more like 1 gold for 400 gems.

I was actually pretty miffed when they nerfed him, it was hilarious when people couldn’t realise that his shield hurt you if you attacked him.

. . . butter is being scalped? With as much as was floating around, the butt of jokes over how one could replicate the Lion’s Arch Lion in chilled butter after one day of opening loot bags . . . and it’s scarce and scalped? Wow.

Anyone remember when “dungeons were too hardcore for casuals”? Especially AC?

Remember when you had to manually select your auto attack on engineer kits….every time.

Yeah, I tried to head that off in the OP. Unfortunately my request has been utterly ignored by most responses.

Still, there are some good responses! I don’t think I ever experienced the Mesmer portal griefing.

Nov 15th. Arenanet’s game “changing” patch is a tribute to Star Wars Galaxies game killing NGE patch, as they both released on Nov 15th.

That’s just a bad day of the year for MMOs. lol

Hard not to be bitter when the game released as the most innovative and amazing thing we had played and then slowly, one patch at a time, changed in flavor and direction to become more and more like WoW.

Anyhow, in answer to the OP:

. . . I remember being able to do so, yes. I miss being able to since in some group events they spend their time dirt-napping more often than not. Which only serves to remind me of my favorite pull tactic in GW1:

“Pet pulling”. Wherein I let my pet get utterly pasted and resurrect it to drag things out of position. Often times breaking up groups so we could nail them one by one.

When everything was bright and vibrant and new, when GW2 finally came to take you away from the dull games you played to have something to do while waiting for betas to come out? Remember the excitement of exploring a new world with your friends, playing all together?

Remember when DR wasn’t an issue?

-Remember the old Orrian armor that was too skimpy so they changed it?
-Remember when females used to use male voices?
-Remember when everyone found the “nude” armor cheat and ran around in packs?
-Remember when grub loot was disabled due to farmers?
-Remember when your pets had extremely loud foot steps?
-Remember when you had to carry mats with you before you headed to the crafting station?

Of course as has been said, the Dye Seeds and Account Wide Dyes was another. There’s a few more, but that’s what I have off the top of my head.

Calm down there friend. It wasn’t because of prudes or anything like that. It was literally rather revealing. My own personal opinion, I thought it was fine. But I could see where they were coming from. It didn’t have any underwear and the left breast was exposed with just a few fingers covering it. It was borderline nudity (to some). So they added underwear to it and then covered up the breast completely.

There’s a difference between skimpy and revealing. The armor is still slightly skimpy, just not as revealing as it was back in beta.
