What purpose does it serve to remove BL ticket skins?

Are these ever coming back?

Why were they removed in the first place?

Doesn’t ANet realize that some people still want access to these skins?

Why would ANet deny people access to content like this?

Valid questions. I’m looking for an official response. Please advise.

Think it was something to do with freeing up vendor space, although I would have thought a 2nd vendor would be more appropriate.

I have never understood why they were removed either. But, I also never liked that they required such an inordinate number of scraps (more gem store money I guess).

I agree that skins should remain purchasable. Even more so now that there are achievements to be worked towards

The removal was thanks to the vendor running out of tabs, most believe. Hopefully they will return in a vendor revamp (I intend to pay attention to the PAX announcements to see if things like that are addressed).

Why were the removed? Same reason the various infinite gathering tools are only around temporarily. If things are around all the time people will put off getting them because you can get them any time. If you make it a limited time availability people will feel a certain urgency to get them the next time they are available because you won’t know when they might be coming back.

TL;DR It’s to get procrastinators to buy more stuff.

Some of us don’t really buy that excuse, when they could have replaced each tab with a “double click to choose your reward” box for each set. Maybe they’re planning to do that in the future, but for now creating scarcity is the only reason that makes sense.

Or place a second vendor with as many tabs as the first one(for future weapons too).

I believe this is the reason^ they are trying to drive sales in general. The removal blc weaps can actually benefit some players too. The ones who saved their weaps to sell later can get a nice big chunk of gold now :](sadly im not one of those players) . Even if you missed out on some older weaps and they dont bring them back. They will likely keep coming out with more so hopefully you see another set you like. Or you can try to buy off the tp if you want it THAT bad. Asuming its still available ;/

As with any item that is removed while saying “for this year” the potential for returning it to the vendor in the future is always there, and most likely that is what will happen with the ones that have been removed…they’ll be back again for a limited amount of time some time in the future.

I’m all for stuff being removed eventually so it at least has some notability and exclusiveness. AS LONG AS SUFFICIENT NOTIFICATION IS GIVEN.

Example: “Hey guys, at the end of season 2 these skins won’t be available anymore (be it BLTC or LS skins), so you have that much time to collect before gone forever!”

Halfway through: “Remember, these skins are gone at the end of LS 2!”

Month before end: “Skins disappearing at the end of LS 2!”

None of that, “here’s a patch, skins are now gone. Forgot to tell you all!”

It’s understandable to me when it’s stuff linked to a specific season of sorts – like the Lovestruck weapons only being around close to Valentine’s Day?

Personally I’d like to see them just bundle them into boxes like Palador suggested. Oh, except people hate clicking through boxes

To be fair, there was a notice or two posted before they did it.

If we are talking about the BLTC, i know, they gave like a month in advance (i think).

If we are talking bout like tribal armor, there wasn’t a post made by a dev, but supposedly it was mentioned somewhere in their livestream, though I can’t find it even going back and looking through. That is the main thing that annoyed many of us.

its probably removed after a while to give people incentive to buy bl keys and keep the skins for long periods of time as investments

Or, more likely, people will put off buying other stuff and wait for what they want to come back in the gem store.

Because as a general idea, a smart merchant offers as much of a wide variety they can give to increase sales. You sell more if you have 100 different items for sale than if you only offer 20. We’re not talking Rembrandt paintings here. If people want a neverending harvesting tool, they will buy it no matter if it’s a burning axe, small golem or frozen dragon tooth. If people want a specific mini, they will not buy another one just because the one they want is on sale only in Wintersday. They will wait until Wintersday to buy what they want. And if it’s not there then either, oh well, there’s always a Pizza Hut around to spend your money on.

Doh.
