So I leveled 10 times off of Jewelcrafting on my Mesmer, bumping him up to level 25. I looked for rares that were going cheap on AH for armor upgrades and there were none. So I searched for Masterwork upgrades… and I found -this- set!

Shadow of Hoelbrak gear. It looks amazing, I got called a kitten for wearing it, and I was SO surprised that something so cool was low level! So, I’m creating the unsung skins thread. We’ve seen Grenth’s, we’ve seen CoF, and we’ve all fawned over that adorable Asura in that tech gear. But I’ve never seen this armor before and it is absolutely amazing.

So go ahead! Post pictures or at least the names of armor skins below level 80 that you’ve found sort of tucked away.

One of my favorite cloth armor skins by far is the Winged set. For females, at least. It doesn’t look so good on my Asuran elementalist. :c

I use a mix and match set. I’ll post it when I get back.
It’s the BLC chest and legs, masterpiece helm and boots, exotic gloves and dungeon shoulders.

That armor seemed too fairy for races other than Sylvari for my personal tastes. However, I saw a human with a really sick black and dark purple. They looked pretty cool.

I imagine on your Asura you’d look like a twisted version of Tinkerbell, lol.

Uh, I’d hardly call that set “unsung”…90% of female human and norn casters in the game are running around in that, and/or those pants in combination with the barely-there Feathered brassiere…

Anyway, back when I still played, this coat was a personal favorite, despite being “regular” Orr karma gear (not 42k).

Whoa… that is rather stylish! I like the color scheme you used with it too.

Nice staff. I don’t care for the scholarly look of the second picture myself, but I do like the first one.

I am thrilled the game has transmution. I am in love with my armor set and I am overjoyed I can keep the cosmetics while upgrading the stats!

So…how does one get Warmaster Forgal’s chest and bottom piece?

I am thrilled the game has transmutation. I am in love with my armor set and I am overjoyed I can keep the cosmetics while upgrading the stats!

Cosmetics in this game rocks!
I love transmutation stones myself and I carry several in my inventory at all times.
I also love how you can mix and match armour sets to get a unique look and just put the stats you want on them..
Now for a shameless plugg pic- since I am in love with this look.
Whispers set with transmuted Winged boots since the Whispers boots are fugly- the whole set is now transmuted with exotic carrion stats. so yay.
but this is 80 so it is not what you are looking for

Unfortunately you cannot preview from the TP. That makes it a complete gamble, you have to hope the icon accurately depicts the product. Luckily most of these items are rather cheap so you.

I really like the cabalist coat. If you look closely you can see two small bottles, a green and a blue, which are the same as the transformation tonics from halloween, that turns you into a ghost or skeleton. The patterns on the coat is also great. But the main thing I like about it is the skeleton head, so I decided to give my charr a dungeon crawler/ghost killer look, by using skeleton heads and a bit of “ghost blue” colors.

You do realize thats the same look as the cloth karma sets for that level range right? Nice finding it on AH, it is one of my favorites (without the helmet). Kept it on my Female Necro for as long as I could.

Side note for the OP – rare armor is not available until lvl 30.

All this thread is doing is reminding me how comparatively terrible the choices are for light and medium armor for male characters.

When I think of what a colossal dorkwad my poor mesmer looked in that very same winged armor set that is such a favorite among women …

And the skirts! So many skirts! My mesmer has been transmuting the same pair of pants onto every new skirt he finds (which are always inaccurately listed as “pants” in the item description) since he was in his teens.

My ranger would do the same thing, but the skirts that medium-armor professions get stuck with are part of their coats – so he has had no choice but to transmute the rawhide set to level 80 and beyond.

Why, ANet? Why do you want to force men to wear skirts? Maybe I’m not the most macho guy in the world, but come on!

Try using it while hiding the shoulders (which is where the wings are). The armor suddenly becomes a lot less flamboyant.

I have it on my Charr Elem’ with Charr T1 helm. Keeping the bone look via a light tan color.
Just head to wiki and Search Armor sets, or alternatively, players put all Medium armors, all Light armors, and all Heavy armors into a single image=gallery of available sets, if you search images, its an easy find. Get the name to a set then investigate how to get it in wiki or else where.

I love the Asura Tier 2 cultural heavy armor, IMO it looks better than the vastly more expensive Tier 3 (and surprisingly i’ve only seen 1 other Asura in it).

Another is the mace in pic 3, that’s the Tier 3 Asura cultural one (i love it, possibly my favourite mace skin) – when i got it i had no idea it had light spikes as the preview doesn’t show them (i’ve yet to see another player with this on my server or in WvWvW).

This thread sure dropped far.
