The Wardrobe and "The Emporer" Title
1) You don’t need to buy all the racial skins to get the title. Only one third of them. While it might be possible to check the game logs to find out exactly which specific pieces each player bought, that would be a massive waste of time.
2) Many other players bought skins and destroyed/lost/sold them prior to the introduction of the wardrobe. These skins might have been very expensive. There’s no reason to give special treatment to certain players who happened to max out a title, and not to all the others.
It’s something that happens with new systems. You got exactly what you paid for at the time, so you haven’t lost anything. You simply failed to gain something extra (the wardrobe unlock), since you chose to destroy/sell the skins instead of keeping them.
I find it insulting that some skins that i previously used on my weapons aren’t in my warderobe. Like SAB scepter and staff, and much more that i transmuted before the warderobe system was implemented. So sad.
1.) agreed 1/3 is required for the title. but is it a waste of time to invest content into the game and not reward players for having done associated content that is to an extent unlocked on their accounts? seems it would be easy to scan for the title earned.
2.) i don’t pretend to be able to read minds on what they’ll do next, i know ive destroyed, sold or deleted skins. additionally, support has been know to re-imburse these types of issues. rarely, mind you.
3.) i have lost something over this. the title now means very little, unless you buy the skins all over again.. what player do you think will do that? especially if new classes or races are yet to be released? i would personally see doing so as a way to throw any player under the bus if anything as a ploy to get us to buy gems. for those who have bought gems in the past, we see it coming and are increasingly hesitant.
Scanning for the title may be one thing. Searching through thousands, tens of thousands, or more database entries for individual players to determine exactly which particular skins should be unlocked sounds like quite a bit of work.
Or are you suggesting that anyone with the title pre-Wardrobe should have every Cultural Armor skin unlocked, thus giving them a cosmetic advantage over other players. I’m sure the dissatisfaction would only move from one set of players to another, were that the case. Not to mention the amount of work involved for the CS Team.
They can’t automate it because the achievement doesn’t actually keep track of exactly what pieces you’ve purchased. If you look at how it behaves, it completely ignores armor weight and counts light, medium, and heavy gloves as one “unique” piece (which is why you can’t complete the achievement tier by buying three gloves and three boots of different weights).
Having the achievement tells ANet you have at least 1/3rd of the skins, they have no way of knowing whether or not you have the remaining 2/3rd or which of the 1/3rd you have (unless you still have the skin in your inventory). The only way they’d ever know is if they write a script to comb through every vendor purchase your character has ever made and that’s assuming they even archive that kind of information.
