The posters don’t make the statement that caring about history is an evil thing. The statement is that evil forces can use such sentiments as nationalism and xenophobia to try to push their agenda.

The posters are written to try to undermine Queen Jennah and her reign, so the treaty with the Charr is a legitimate target for them to take aim at, as is the centaur war, the out of control Watchwork Knights, and the pirates of Lion’s Arch.

You read way too into those posters. ANet isn’t trying to send subliminal messages and be PC with them, they are trying to properly set the stage for what is shaping up to be a revolt in DR with LWS3. You can’t have something like that when people aren’t feeling oppressed, it wouldn’t work.

Yeah, I agree that you seem to be reading more into the posters than I was. I saw it as more of what we’ve already seen in Ebonhawke (and throughout DR): NPCs complaining about the world changing. I don’t see anything “PC” about it, nor do I believe it’s necessarily a commentary on what’s happening in the real world.

It’s a fictional faction using propaganda against other fictional factions that include fictional groups of people. There really isn’t anything to read into here. Saying the use of propaganda is a reference to some real life event is like saying the use of weapons is a reference to the US conflict in Vietnam. Specifically Vietnam. Not literally every war ever that had weapons involved.
Propaganda, such as the “Them vs. us” mentality is a natural occurrence in every conflict. Even made up ones.

Indeed — there’s nothing new in the type of conflict between the human ‘rebels’ and the ‘loyalists’. As in RL, people affected by prior wars have trouble letting go.

For those who do want spoilers (or have already seen the posters and need a refresher), I posted them in https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/lwd/Unrest-in-Kryta-Spoilers/first#post6203568 — only go there if you want to read the posters which this thread has kindly kept out of view to avoid spoilers.

I don’t think the opinions are presented as evil. I think they are presented as inflammatory commentary meant to rabble rouse and to discredit the Crown. Thus they are a harsh spin aimed at raising ire, not a reasoned commentary of dissenting opinions.

It is sad, IMO, that this PC trend is more and more prominent in Videogames (…). From the idea that caring about history, the sacrifices of your ancestors and your nation is some sort of evil thing (…), to pushing “diversity” while promoting an idea that a minority (…) is oppressed by the majority, when in fact it was all the opposite."

What is exactely your point?

The Bandit Posters are not about caring about history or your ancestors.
They are populist, cheap propaganda of some hidden Krytan faction and they also have some racist tendencies. I liked it, that I, the player character, was in the role of removing them from the walls.
