So, uh… Right. ANet have held off swinging the banhammer to better understand the mechanisms by which they work etc. etc.

They’re recruited a crack team of bot hunters!

They’ve banned oooh, 10k?

And yet… there’s a guild on Piken Square of pure bots who’ve been botting the same loop now for weeks. Same characters, same names, same guild. Day in and day out. I’m not a “bot hunter”, and nor have I got a great deal of experience in network traffic analysis etc., but I’m starting to doubt ANet’s commitment to bot banning here.

What more could ANet possibly hope to learn from these guys that they haven’t learnt already? I get code is refined and they need to keep up to date on what’s happening, but the external behaviour of these bots is unchanging.

Ban their guild please. Ban the bots. Or give us a really good reason why you’re allowing these guys to make so much money… because at the moment I’m starting to believe the conspiracy nuts in that you chaps are in on it.

Well before your thread gets locked with the ususal comment that reporting bots should be done in-game I have to agree that it takes them too long to do something about it. The economy is affected already, by what degree is anyone’s guess, but it definitely affects the legitimate players in a negative way.
The thread “about bots and what we are doing about it” is over a month old. I am no expert but it seems to me that this should be enough time to gather data.
Maybe they are not so keen on solving the issue as they want it to appear. I saw a group of 6 bots also in the same guild running in circles teleporting towards mobs. I reported them but it does not seem to have any consequences short term or medium term to those accounts.
So either ANet has a really good long-term solution or just wants to silence the issue as much as possible. I hope for the first.

At least spamming via mail by goldsellers has gone done.

I favor the long term solution. The drawback is that it takes longer to set up. Up to this moment ANet never failed me, so as a “fanboy” I still believe in them working hard on the solution.

Hello,

Thank you for your feedback, it’s appreciated. We are taking such issues very seriously, and it’s one of our top priorities at the moment. Our team is working very hard to find the best way to solve this.

But as we explained, we want to give you an update about that only when everything will be setup, not before.

In the meantime, we invite you to keep reporting that kind of issues to our customer support team.

Thank you for your understanding & patience.
